What turbo do you have there, I have a GT ti with a IHI VF19 at 10 psi, O don't Know how many power I have, I don't a have a dyno in my city, and I don't know if the turbo I'm running is appropriate for the engine as well. The guys of mighty car mods in Australia, put a IHI vf16 in a Dahiatsu Mira 1.0L but do you know which turbo is bigger ? Vf16 or vf19 ? Greetings from Chile

I had one of the 30 complied GTti's (years after they were imported), flew to Brisbane to buy it, drove to Newcastle the next day then 7am-11pm the day after that to get home to Adelaide, the CB70 ran like a dream. I had two G11 CXT's, then a G201 Detomaso, the GTti then a G102 with a HD-E, never should have gotten rid of them, far better cars than people would have had you believe. Good to see theres still people mucking around with them!

Sure is hendo337, It was an 1987 model which originally an Australian delievered 1L carburetted turbo model which was quite slow, but an import Japanese twincam DOHC 3 cylinder turbo engine was put in and modded like crazy! thanks for the compliment, I miss the sound the car makes since its runs an odd amount of cylinders it really gives it an unique exhaust note. That and the fact it had no mufflers ;)

Is this car from 20 years ago? I think it's amazing that Daihatsu had Dohc turbo 1L I3 all those years ago and now Ford has just come out with their 1L Ecoboost engine that makes 125hp from the factory(for now) and it is considered so revolutionary. I like how it sounds, like a turbo I6 very cool car.

Diaclub, would love to know what mods you were running at the time. Can you direct me to any further info about your old car on the net? or list the details here? I have an old G11R running the CB80 and am always interested to see how people are making their power. Thanks

@doubleym The dash cluster installed in the car was from the carby Turbo charade hence the redline was only 6000RPM. After all the mods before I sold the car the car was easily redlining at 7950RPM in 1st, 2nd & 3rd :)

@daiclub I don't mean you didn't hit redline, I mean on the GTti I drove redline started higher, at least 7000RPM possibly 7250...

hey guys! i hav a problem on my charade, i check the compression on my engine and i only got 93 on every cylinder. is it ok if i used d standard piston and will be putting an oversized piston ring? pls i need an advice on this

the Formula 1 urbocharged cars ran up to 70 psi, i know a cosworth engineer who had a 1.0 litre engine putting out 1500 hp at 19'000 rpm with 72 psi of boost. the engine would only last about 2 hours at race pace, but that was F1 in the turbo years. Also group B rally cars ran up to 50 lbs, on stock blocks.
