Why is it so close? Because the base-of-the-base of Trump supporters will vote for him regardless of his policies, regardless of his record, and regardless of his action. A normal relationship between a voter and a politician has the voter respond positively or negative to a candidate for office based on what the candidate says they will do, what the candidate has done in the past, and what they are doing now. And that voter will withhold that vote if any one of those three aspects are viewed unfavorably by the voter. This dynamic doesn't work with cult leaders. Trump doesn't have supporters, he has followers. He doesn't have rallies he has services. Maga is a fellowship of lonely, disaffected, and mentally exhausted people who are energized by vague discontent and reinforced by simplistic tropes and transparent scapegoat xenophobia. The enthusiasm for Harris and Trump's pathetic performance at the debate peeled away a few hundred thousands, perhaps. But for the true believers, there is no easy agnosticism. When you have been rendered terrified and angry for reasons obscure even to yourself, you are unlikely to spontaneously construct a health psyche from whole cloth. It may be months, year, or never for these depressingly hateful members of Trump's flock. And the saddest thing is... he really doesn't care about them. He is a shepherd with a tendency to fleece.

The excuse they make for killing the bill doesn't even make sense either. "it was attached to Ukraine's military aid." Yeah? So was Israel and Taiwans, yet you don't care about those two, how does that make a bill, *that YOUR leaders mostly wrote* a "bad bill"? Like what does that change on the bill itself? The thing that is angering me the most is, I just *know* that whoever wins, that bill is going to get passed. But in Trumps case he's going to pass either the exact same bill or a bill that's 99% similar, slap a new name on it, then pretend to be some kind of fucking hero.
