There’s something about the Elphies who play her sounding like a Disney Princess that are God-tier whether they’re American or English. Laura Pick is the same & awesome too.
@@kyleruggles8754 for someone who enjoys riffs so much, Jess really stuck to the melody a lot during her run as Elphaba!! She’d have some little inflections or alterations she’d do here and there, but nothing crazy at all unless it was a special occasion!!
@@cjcotza7033 Yes! She spoke on the Sentimental Men Podcast about how strict Wicked is, and how she was always getting in trouble if she went to far off from the original score (even Eden's riff which was once approved is discouraged). I would definitely recommend a listen if you haven't heard her episode.
@@hannahlashbrook I looooove that podcast!! They were VERY strict when Jess was in the show, but it seems like whoever the musical director of the show is now is less strict because the Elphabas are making a lot more options and alterations especially in defying gravity now!! I noticed this started with Lindsay heather pearce and now with Alyssa fox too!!
I believe it is from Wicked’s 15th anniversary! I was in the audience and I believe it was the one and only time she sang this opt up in her entire run!
The Eden refers to the option up on the notes in the line "feeling things I've never felt" from the traditional way it is written in the score (Idina's version). The Eden was created by Eden Espinosa and used to be taught as an approved option for the Elphabas, but is now discouraged.
How did the audience resist the urge to go nuts at “AND I’LL STAND THERE WITH THE WIZARD FEELING THINGS I’VE NEVER FELT”

I love Laura Pick! She was my first West End Elphaba!
I wish they still allowed this option😢
i agree it's one of my favs
They don't allow this anymore??? It's literally the right way in my opinion
Okay so just realized that she says she is unlimited in Wizard and I. Then in For Good she says she is Limited. Such good writing
it’s also referenced in defying gravity
@@Brandon-yr3njAlso it was mentioned in the original versions of No Good Deed
@@thomas965oI hate that they took this out. It was SO brilliant.
Elphaba's arc.
wow this audio is so crisp! wish they did proper studio recordings for each elphaba, sucks there's no official vosk soundtrack :(((
Did not know if she ever sang it this way, but always hoped she did. Thanks!
This is from Wicked’s 15th anniversary!!! I believe it was the one and only time she sang this opt up in her entire Broadway run!!
@@cjcotza7033that's an interesting fact! Wish she did it more than just once, but it sounds great any way she decides to sing it. Thanks again!

God she’s incredible. My favorite Elphaba BY FAR
also 2:19 crazyyy vibrato, never heard that before
Do you have her her last no good deed by chance?
I don't think so, but I'm sure it's somewhere on TH-cam already!
So incredible! Do you know the date of this performance? 😍

Yes, it is!
What’s the difference in the “Eden version”?
