Merrill, you are hands down my favorite YT detectionist to watch. Your finds make it exciting and your humor and entertainment is the best out there! Great hunt, appreciate the knowledge with two spoonfuls of humor to boot!!!!
Merrill. Couple things. #1 Had you routed the antenna cable thru the mounting clip per the instructions it would not have broken. #2 It comes with a lanyard so if the RC comes off it does not get lost. #3 Always read the instructions
Well Mr, electric, With all due respect, I've only been using the XP2, For maybe, 2 months now, I'm still learning it, and Still think it's a great machine, But my RC popped off at least 10 times so far, And I'm not exaggerating, If it wasn't for that tether it would Have gone bye bye, I know I hunt in rough conditions, On the beach Doring storms, But that's a little excessive in my opinion, If they only could develop a little Type of locking system to keep it on the shaft, Because It just seems to pop off too easy, Other than that, great machine, From Sunny Florida, Thanks, 🙂👍🏝
Not sure how you lose a gold ring… I know you are experienced but instead of trying to hold your pinpointer and detector and dropping everything, why don’t you use a finds pouch? You said yourself you’re losing everything…
If the nox has a drink you loose it completely, Merrill did you forget the control box strap, maybe next time,😉 great detecting with you.fantastic day.
Merril, I am SOOO excited for you, my own heart started pounding when I saw that gold monster of a chain that you pulled!!! You deserve that kind of a day at least once a week....... for the value of your teaching, inspiration and fun you you bring to us all!!
Holy Shit is right. What a spectacular find and day. Congrats Merrill. It couldn't happen to a nicer guy. The second I saw that banana I thought Quarter Hoarder too. I started laughing when you said it.
One more quick comment lol. I shortened my antenna wire and ran it through the inside of the shaft. Where i spliced it I soldered the connection and used waterproof heat shrink tubing to seal the connection. Secondly i I picked up an extra shaft and lower rod, so when I do dirt hunting I don't have to constantly remove the antenna wire. It's much easier to just switch the coil for me. Keep up the great work!
As you said, in time, with use, detectors pay for themselves. To all the people who lose valuables, detectorist's everywhere think about you often. And if possible, those conscientious human beings return 13.5 gram 18 kt. gold bracelets and other returnable jewelry. Good for you Merrill. Keep us informed, entertained and passionate about our shared hobby.
Nice vid Merrill. All of my detectors were paid for by others. It really is a great hobby. I had issues with my XPD1 anntenae when I hunted the lakes. The wire broke insude. I bought this on Amazon,(uxcell Low Loss RF Coaxial Cable Connection Coax Wire RG-179 10m) 10 meters of wire and made my own antennae. you just have to strip off the outer jacket and water proof the thin white jacket with heat shrink or silicone. Make a couple up and leave them in the car as spares, just in case. I did. I understand XP is not warranting any broken antennaes .Put the lanyard on. And the black tape that is coming up on the back is exactly that. Black tape. Remove it, it only covers the battery as the plastic is clear under it. I had this same problem and it would not let the remote seat properly on the shaft stem remote bracket. it is $750.00 for a new remote. use the lanyard.
Omg! What a day! After this video, everyone’s out there looking for Phil’s ring! Congratulations on that chain and unique ring! The ring looks like a real old design. Beautiful! My fav on the video today.
Hey-Hey Merrill, congratulations on finding the mother lode of gold, I'm esthetic, and thanks for those golden tips you shared today. GREAT!!! finds today! Plus, you may get a phone call from Mr. T about that gold chain any day now, just don't answer the phone... HOLY COW!!! you blew it up today. Happy New Year big fella, and may it be the most prosperous and exciting year ever...But I do feel bad for Phil when he lost that gold ring, geese! poor guy...Thanks Merrill, it was a blast! I don’t own the 900 yet. The Manticore feels like the Equinox with better visual inference but little depth or separation improvement. Deus 2 beats everything on the beach. I never matched the Equinox with the Deus in dirt. I would say Manticore or Equinox on dirt Deus 2 on the beach.
Because of your teachings (and the Mighty Vanquish 440) I found 3 musket balls ( 2 fired and 1 dropped) and a Silver Ring on Christmas morning ! I'm about 50$ away from paying it off after 6 months! (I found a Gold Class ring that I returned to the owner and some guys motorcycle keys this summer!) Thank you and Happy Holidays to you and your familly! :)
Merrill, your friend seemed skeptical about the authenticity of the gold chain....If you want proof its real, just take a magnet off your fridge and see if it sticks to the chain....if not, its GOLD!!!
Great video Merrill! Awesome finds. That gold chain paid for your whole kit! When your control box fell off the attachment I was thinking "where's the tether that came with it?" I agree that it is a design flaw with the Deus. A lot of guys are swapping out the attachment bracket for an after-market version that is better designed. BTW, I really enjoyed listening to you on Relic Radio podcast the other day. Keep up the great videos and happy digging, Dave.
Hi Merrill, solution to prevent control box being lost. I found a little tether that can be snapped together. One end loops through the small tether hole in the box, the other part attaches to the stem mount. I had to drill a tiny hole in the stem fitting to loop the other half of the tether through. I clip the box on then snap the tethers together. If the box comes loose it still remains attached to the stem mount.
Sure makes me wish more that I had closer access to a beach. I’m about 3 hours away and get there 1-2 extended weekends a year. Could be worse, I could be in the Midwest and never see a beach. That was educational, entertaining, and just humorous all rolled into one. Your Sushi moves are hilarious. I will be checking out your previous recordings. What an amazing beach day! The ocean was with you and Phil. I feel really badly at Phil's ring loss. You, on the other hand, came up trumps. That gold necklace was the bomb! Not sure of the Deus II build. With detectors, it is always something!
Nice video as always full of great finds great information. I’m ready to take the plunge for new detector ? Question: Would you buy the 900 over the 800 ? It seems to have a lot over the 800. I have the CTX-30-30 but is becoming very heavy. Need to get something lite. Thanks Jacoby
Okay 👌 thanks 900 was my choice so Thank you for the Validation. Keep those video coming best overall Informative , funny and your finds are Incredible. I’m a fan! Happy new year best to you in the new year!🗽🎉🎊🪅
Great outing Merrill... now, please, please do me a favour... take the Legend out in similar conditions... I would love to see (and learn) how you do! I need to find ways of using my machine in high iron settings... my best spot at the moment is littered with iron/ bits of brass/ aluminium space peanuts... but I do find the green coppers and silvers too! However, with all the old stuff I find I need to get a better understanding of what gold would sound like! Thanks!!
Hi Vossie! Did you do the update that gives you the iron filter? Go high recovery speed and you can lower the iron filter. Dare I say you can also dig some iron to move it when you might have a conductive signal nearby.
@@MetalDetectingNYC Thanks Merrill, yep - I dig iron to get it out of the way! I have the latest software version so It is working for me. Maybe because this is my first MF machine I must just be a little more patient and learn as I did when getting the Simplex - after all, that is part of the fun!😁😁
Merrill, you live in Freeport. Take it to Doral. They can analyze the chain for you. Doral is a refinery on Atlantic Ave. in Freeport. Nice finds, by the way.
HOLY MOLY!!!! That necklace was incredible!!! That was certainly an amazing find. Merrill I'd certainly like to metal detect with you one day, I live here in Michigan, maybe you'd like to detect the lake waters here during the summer. Sure would be and honor. Hey Merrill could you tell me what kind on scale you use to weigh your gold rings and necklaces? Also what is the computer sight you use to find the calculations of your finds? Great video and I'm so glad I found your channel. I just ordered 2 of those remote locking clips for the DEUS on eBay. Worth the $20 USD after seeing what happen to you! Get a couple zip ties for you TX cable, problem solved. Cheers from Asia!
I know the Deus 2 is out of my range to spend to get one. But I also know that in time yes these pay for themselves with use. This is a hobby that pays you back over time. Congrats on the heavy Chain Wicked Brother. I got excited with you and I was not even there or the one who dug it up. That is incredibly awesome. I wonder if Deus would warranty the detector cause the wire Broke. Keep On Go Go GO .it works for ya.. Peace
They are literally money making machines! It’s the only hobby where you are guaranteed (with use) to recoup your investment. I just bought the extra wire. Didn’t want to jump through hoops
Awesome gold finds! After you use the xp deus II, do you feel the company need to make modifications on their manufacturing to make it a more solid machine?
Awesome trip to the beach. You have to use that tether cord that came with the detector. You just have to tie the one end to the shaft and the other just loops onto the remote.
The Deus 2 is definitely a great detector, one of the top 4 or 5 made. It seems like more and more problems are cropping up with build quality though. Every detector has its strengths and weaknesses. I was watching a CTX user using a manticore and he could tell the difference between iron falseing and good targets because it sounded on iron just like the CTX does. An update should be able to fix the iron issue on the Manticore though.
Great finds!! If you find really old gold coins or jewels (100 years +) don’t polish them, they are worth more with the patina. There is a place on the box where you can put a cord through, the cord clamps between the top stem so you will not lose the box, and it will not drop on the ground when nocked off also. You can judge the size of the targets better because of the faster recovery speed of the XP Deus. The antenna is giving problems more often I hear, as are the bone conduction headphone wires which breaks sometimes.
Just started watching your channel . 😀. Curious do you actually sell your finds or do you just look up the scrap value to see what they would sell for. 🤔. I haven't sold anything I have found. HH from UK. 🙂.

Nice Hunt mate!!!! How you solve the antena problem??? Its amazing a 1700 dollars detector has this problem. In my case the antena cable gets rusted within 3-4 searchs and starts fallin apart. What do you recomend me??? Thank you!!!
I do t think it’s a question of rust. It’s a question of something loose being tethered down and catching something. Mine broke when the edge was not clipped under. Make sure that the wire is fully under the clip.
Where I live a simplex might pay for itself in 10 years lol. There was no cash money in the southern Appalachians everything was traded in hogs chickens and liquor. We do occasionally find stills and lots of farm iron.
Super nice hunt. I was going through my beach finds from this summer and I had a gold nugget earring in the pile. My family were skeptical it was real so in the drawer it went when I got home. Sure I had silver coins, rings, and earrings but never got gold before. I was off before Christmas so took it to my brother in laws jewelry store to see if it was real. I was so thrilled .6 penny weight of 14k. It made my year and first gold ever. Not a big find but to me it was awesome. Been detecting off and on since I was a kid and as an adult when time allowed. Never found gold before. I really enjoy your adventures.
Hello Merrill, always good to see a video from the beach with you. The Deus II is expensive and very good. But lousy in the quality with this cable that easy brokes... 😢 Regards from Germany

That's beautiful...
Merrill, nice vid. DEUS 2.
Where I live a simplex might pay for itself in 10 years lol. There was no cash money in the southern Appalachians everything was traded in hogs chickens and liquor. We do occasionally find stills and lots of farm iron.
Wow! I bet there are incredible relics there!
I really enjoy your adventures.
that chain looks like something Mr. T would drop 😆🤣
Congrats!!!! Also- what day was this?! You have to be freezing- shorts and sandals?! 🥶
Hi Monica! It was November! I am behind with my videos!
What a hunt Merrill!
Nice to see the payback in almost one shot💣.
A good day for sure🔥
Great video as usual. Tell you what that D2 is a beast. Just wait for the next update. Will no doubt bring those XP haters out for sure. Just wait
Agree, metal detectors pay for themselves
4:48 hood ornament?
That yellow chain you found is the short leash my wife keeps me on... clearly I've escaped so if you find me, please let her know!
😂
BAM! you nailed it! Congrats on the great finds!
Thank you!
When was this filmed? You guys looked dressed for spring or fall. Lol
November…, it was 50 something degrees
Holy sh* Merrill. My detector paid for itself not on money, but historical trash, ie relics.
They always pay for their use! Joy, history and gold!
Congratulations! That was a very rewarding hunt. Thank you for sharing it with us.
So is the manticore better ?
Honker , , tops the 29g 1976 Pitt class ring I found
😳 29 gram ring!!!! EPIC!!!
Hello Merrill, always good to see a video from the beach with you.
The Deus II is expensive and very good. But lousy in the quality with this cable that easy brokes... 😢
Regards from Germany
