I have two questions sir, what if a child is born without the ability of hearing or speaking (deaf/dumb) what kind of linguistic thoughts would his/her mind create ? Or according to what Terrance said would he have duality at all? Second question is, we all understand to some extent how the mind works but when one is in excruciating physical pain who feels it? Or just because you eliminate the feeler, is it not felt???
I am sure Terrance can explain this better. 1- My version is that ' Linguistic thoughts ' was presented only as an example as to how duality occurs. For a child who is born without hearing and speaking ability, duality occurs from other means such as seeing actions of others including the lip movements. {A dog will wait until the master comes home in the evening to go for a walk and this is thought driven though not necessarily linguistic) 2- Excruciating physical pain is felt without the ' me' in the center. In both cases, humans have to live in duality even after ' me' falls away and there is no escape from it. In other words, one lives in a dualistic world, will only see through the illusory self though there is no escape but there could be an immense release. This is why some speakers speak of ' surrender ' to what is... If you apply the example of a ' Dream' , these questions do not arise. In fairness to Terrance , he is taking many examples to show that the duality is not true
