Mazda is on a diferent level in therms of reliability and quality compared to other mainstream brands. The price is honestly not bad compared to peugeot, renault, Opel, Kia, Nissan, etc. The Trunk is a little on the smaller size and it's not as "flashy" in therms of certain tech, but man the exquisite flare is there...
Hi Dan, please and again please make the same films as the last cx 30 for CX 5 for 2024. Video series for the cx 30 is great to watch, so it would probably be the same for the cx5 thank you in advance
Mazda has the best display placement. I am not a fan of the huge touch screens. Always loved the controles in the center console. This is probably the reason i will go for mazda this year
i´m having this control on my CX3 and it´s not great, especially not during driving, because you always have to scroll through every menu item until you reach the right one. Sometimes you go too far, then you have to scroll back. Especially on Android Auto this is way more annying and distracting than just tipping the item on the touchscreen. But Mazda deactivates touch during driving - which is a stupid decision in my opinion, because touch works faster and more efficient than this scroll wheel in the center console.
One of the main drawback of that car is average consumption to say the least. On motorway at cruise speed you can achieve a mere 6.8l , at 120km/h, 7.5 at least at 130 . Urban driving with traffic expect 12-14l , so if you do a lot of city drive , don’t expect fuel savings. Pb is that automatic gear is not fuel efficient and adds about one litre more at least compared to manual gear. The X is expected to be far more efficient. Otherwise this car rocks on most compartments, one of the best value for money in terms of handling, equipment. The car is very silent, and the audio bose is ome of the best systems had even compared to meridian , HK in other premium brands. Only weakness are the fuel efficiency and the lack of space for rear seats.
My CX-30 has a manual gearbox and my numbers are similar to yours (maybe between 0.5 and 1L less). I love this car, but I was a bit disappointed by the fuel efficiency.

Thanks for the videos, DAN: after your detailed reviews and a few test drives I've ordered a CX-30 in top-spec 😎(it will arrive only in December though 🥲) Really love the way you review cars. Many thanks again 🤝
I love my CX-30, but it burns a lot of fuel despite being "Mild-hybrid"... On the highway it can manage 7L/100km (even 6.5 if you drive bellow the speed limit), but in town it quickly climbs to 10L/100km (even 12.5 in high traffic). I tried using 95 and 98 octane (1000 km each) but it didn't change anything.
@@NIxp3 Yes, it's a manual. Necessary update : the numbers were so high last winter, but they dropped this summer. I'm currently around 7.5 L/100km in the city, and 6.2 L/100km on the highway. I also notice that the battery was more often used during summer.
@@glurp1er is it worth getting a cx30? Im planning to buy a cx 30 but i've heard mazda consumes alot of fuel i have no idea what to do i very rarely use the highway and i drive always in the city
@@NIxp3 it depends... I love my cx30 but if you only drive in European cities with high traffic and narrow streets, then I would not recommend it (on large US roads it should not be an issue, though). Maybe a Mazda 2 would be more appropriate. If your budget is tight but you still need to carry stuff, the Dacia Stepway is pretty nice. If money is not an issue and you rarely drive on highway, go hybrid with the Toyota Yaris Cross.
Almost 7,5 l/100 not bad but average. If you are able to test the skyactiv X 186 with manual gears and in the same conditions, I think it will be better. Happy new year and thanks for this video
Hello, I have heared of great consumption figures on the 186ps manual model ... a lot better than that of the AT gearbox ... it remains to be confirmed ! What I can tell based on my own experience I tested the car I refer to ... and I can cofirm the silky function of the motor and manual gearbox as well as the start stop ... I couldn't hear anything while stoping and starting the car. Mazda has done a great job I should say. I tested the new X1 and I could hear everything ! a clear difference between the two cars !
Hello Dan, Happy New Year. Do you think the e-skyactiv x engine with the 186ps ... may achieve even better consuption figures ? especially with the manual gearshift ... I quess so ... and another thing, regarding the suspension and how much stiff this is ... It would be interesting if you could test the new BMW X1 with the M-pack M-Suspension (that I have a personal experience and I am telling you that although that car has an independent multi-link rear suspension ... the feeling it gives you on the road and bad road surfaces is quite annoying ... it is not good) ... and make a comparison between the two suspensions, which one is more confortable ... because when talking about this kind of cars, crossovers - B/C-Suvs - we need to have a balance between confortable driving and sport feeling ... these are not sport cars. I wanted to comment on that because I have seen so many BMW small crossovers with the M-pack ...
i don´t find Mazdas cars to be quiet. Road and engine noise are higher than on many competitors. Acceleration and consumption are not great either due to natural apirated engines. Reliability on petrol engine and gearbox is good. But diesel engines, steering and especially suspensions are not good. Mazda has tons of issues with their suspension for quite a long time. Even new cars develop knocking noises that often do not get properly repaired because the dealership cannot find the root of the noise. I have a CX3 from 2021 and it has issues that according to Mazda TSBs should have been solved years ago. Still, mind has those issues. So Mazda quality seems to be a lottery.
Yeah, Great comsumption for your grandpa driving style. But in real life, the medium cons. will be around 10L/100km. The car is very good for city drives, and it is a little bit more agile in the city than the Cx5, wich is bigger and heavier, of course. Anyway, the price is still high for such a model, and i think that in this price range it is better to go for the Renault Arkana wich has a full hybrid system also....

Hey that's Lance Stroll testdriving that car. Same accent haha :) Good job though. Going to buy CX-30 soon!

nice video Dan, but the CH-R / Corolla Cross, both offers less consumption, even with the 2.0 liter 198 hp
Yea true 👍
Happy new year all! I noticed this also on my parents' 2022 mazda. active lane keep is not offered at all at mazda right?

Pe mine m-ai convins. Incerc sa fac un test drive cu un skyactiv X 186cp automata. Sper sa consume ceva mai putin.
15 year old civic 1.8/140 hp has similar consumption, I expected more from new technology.

There is no 48 V system and no battery on the "Mild-Hybrid". Pls check your infos before doing a video about it and spreading false information.
Actually, there is a 24v mild hybrid system with a tiny 0.216kWh lithium-ion battery.
