Tom - I don't know if you'll read this but thank you. I lost my job in March and had a difficult time finding a new one. Getting up every day and sending in applications only to hear I'm overqualified, underqualified, or just not what we're looking for is a soul-crushing experience.
I watched your video with Goggins and then started watching a few more. I made watching your videos part of my daily routine before going to the gym. I've seen them all.
They've really helped me to keep a positive mindset and not to fall into depression. I'm happy to report I'll start a GREAT new job in October. New City, better pay, new life.

Levar Burton was so impactful! I love what he said about how passion is the antidote to self doubt. It honestly is so true because when you’re in whatever you’re passionate about you really don’t have time to think too much. You’re actually doing more than thinking and it makes you realize it really is all about the process. It’s in that doing that you really find joy and peace and meaning in life. Passion to me has nothing to do with the end result. It has a lot to do with just doing something for the sake of doing it and discovering yourself more and more through that!

I mean, to put it as simply as possible. What an absolutely lovely man. His outlook, his gratitude, his passion and his curiosity are just so inspiring. This was a really warming interview
Wow. When he started talking about the importance of passion, and how being in that zone leaves no room for self-doubt and negative self-talk, that just hit me. I have so many interests, but no real passion to follow. The closest thing I've had to that, was music, and going to college to be a music teacher. I had that goal until my senior year in high school, when all of my teachers, my orchestra conductors, all these people that had believed in me, they took me aside and told me that this was a path to nowhere. That the experiences I grew up with, the inclusion of music and art in public education, were disappearing. That the path I was taking would ultimately lead to something that would no longer exist. And, they were right. But, that last minute insight turned my world upside down. I haven't been able to go after anything with passion or commitment. That is a key element that is missing now.
LeVar operates on a different level. His words are full of wisdom. It’s reassuring to hear a great human being embracing the grind. He still struggles with frustrations just like all of us. This is an inspirational interview. Thank you as always.

Another coincedence. When I was a kid and Reading Rainbow was in reruns. I'd always tune in exactly when Lavar did the fryed bannanas in Chinatown episode. At that time. I remember hating and failing Social Studies in school. Now I've been obsessed with Cultural Anthropology, art and design for many years. Still haven't tryed fryed bannanas. Thank you Levar Burton for helping kids like me that absolutly hated school with a passion, see alternatives in cultures and ideas.The library was the best part of grade school and recess.

At 18:00, I realized he truly is a child that never let go the wonder and creative insights... and grew with it.
My favorite man ever, 32 years of teaching. You helped me teach big time. I miss you in my daily life after retirement. Your impact is huge. Oh I hear you, we need to reinvent.
This man inspired me when I was 7 (1982), and he still continues to amaze me.

I owe my career and life goals to LeVar Burton. LeVar has impacted my youth and my adulthood beyond words. Theirs something about leVar in Roots & especially in Reading Rainbow. The nostalgia is deep and profound, Mother, stepdad and a few friends and strangers has shape my life. I can say I lived a life that exceeded my dreams.
