  • I remove the sump and start stripping the engine from the bottom and look at the broken conrod.
    Hello, I'm Lance (aka Bundy Bear), and doing these videos is my hobby. I do own Queensland Tractor Spares in Australia where I sell parts and offer technical advice to customers.
    Parts seen in our videos can be purchased from www.queenslandtractorspares.co...
    We have a lot more than we can offer on our web site available to us and in our store. If you don't see what you would like please email info@queenslandtractorspares.com.au or call 1300 850 097 and we will help where we can.
    I do try and help with technical advice at bundybearsshed@gmail.com if you have a question or are having trouble with your project.

    When I were a wee apprentice boy we worked on triple expansion steam engines with white metal bearings. We had to micrometer blue the journal, scrape the bearing to bed to the journal then tighten with soft lead wire to check and shim the clearance.

      How old are you? I would not have thought many triple steam engines were in service past 1950.

    In my experience with those ancient engines the cranks tend to wear out of round pretty bad. That makes setting clearance a troublesome affair. I usually set till it starts to drag then add .003” shim. Better loose than tight as long as you can get oil pressure good enough

      Yeah I agree, the lube was ordinary at best.

    Good day from Ont Canada I am 74 & I remember ploughing with 10-20 when I ws about 10. Do they only have 2 main bearings ? & I knew they were ball bearings. I mean they only ran at 1000 rpm. , some cars jdle almost faster.
    I had sub, but I guess I didn't ring bell
    Thanks for now

      Fordson House in the USA seems to have a few parts available. we are chasing con rods at the moment but the first ones have the wrong number so we will keep looking.

    That thing looks really dry. No oil residue in it?

    • @BundyBearsShed
      @BundyBearsShed  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes it is very dry, I dont know how long it has been since it was drained but it never had oil when I got it to work on.
