    Any concern wrt rod bearings or timing chain guides at this mileage? Are these generally symptom-based or is there some mileage or age you would err on the side of preventative replacement?

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      I recommend oil pan removal and pan/oil pump pickup inspection at each oil change over 175k. Once you find any timing guide pieces, it's time to do them. I also recommend Blackstone oil analysis at each oil service regardless of mileage. Those results can help you plan and time rod bearing replacement.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Excellent eye candy video as usual @E39Source Ryan. Awesome you have customers sending you vehicles from across the country. A question if you don't mind - can you explain more about the DSP upgrade to Bluebus? My music is choppy, and Ted has been great answering my questions and sending me a longer harness connection. He says it lousy Samsung Bluetooth strength and at this point I'm just going to go iPhone. My car is a 2002, 10/21 build, and has DSP. But I see no DSP cable, except one plugged into the back of the Nav DVD. Any thoughts welcome and continued success.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Samsung phones have very poor Bluetooth range in my experience, the iPhone is definitely the way to go! Digital DSP cables were replaced with analog for the 2002 model year, which started 9/2001. You can buy the cable and plug it in to your amp no problem. The cable you see going into the navigation computer is the GPS antenna, so don't use that. You can buy the digital DSP cable here: tinyurl.com/yw69wsus Thank you for your well wishes!

      @dinan53 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@E39SourceGreat info! FWIW, my 2003, 02/2003 production has DSP. And the amplifier has the coax digital DSP cable connected, it's there plugged in at the amplifier. And CD changer has "both" digital DSP cable "and" 6 pins analog. I know i have DSP feature because the MK4 screen shows DSP option in MENU. And under DSP setting i see settings such as concert, church, jazz hall, with EQ settings, etc. However, however - while i'm playing from CD changer, removing digital DSP cable and 6 pin analog connector, "one by one", the music ONLY goes away after i remove the 6 pin analog connector from CD changer. This aligns with my understanding that after September 2002 the digital input at the so called DSP amplifier is a NOP.

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dinan53 I suspect somebody added your digital DSP cable after the fact, or perhaps there was a dealer installed accessory (such as Sirius) that would have required another audio input to the amp. Out of the dozens of 2002+ E39s I've had here in the shop, not one of them has had a digital DSP cable at the amp.

    • @dinan53
      @dinan53 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@E39Source Thank you! I want to purchase Ted's BlueBus and have that be the ONLY music source. I want to connect BlueBus music output through digital DSP cable to my amplifier using existing digital DSP cable. That is my goal. But as i said in my last post, when i tested the digital DSP cable with CD changer (i do not have any other music source such as Srirus), i get NO SOUND through digital DSP cable. Only sound is coming from 6 pin analog connector. Does this mean that the digital DSP input at the amplifier is a DUD on my 2003, 02/2203 production which does have DSP option? Thank you!

    • @E39Source
      @E39Source  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Remove the cable from the CD changer and the amplifier. Using a tiny flat head screw driver, press the prongs inside the digital DSP cable slightly towards the center. These are known to fatigue over time and cause the connection not to work. If that still doesn't work, I'd try a new cable. @@dinan53
