A beautiful presentation of a part in the life of Elvis. I knew of the poem, but not Boyers’ song. Losing his mother so early, then his marriage breakup, did hurt Elvis deep down in his heart and soul. So many of Elvis’ songs show his emotional side, and the tender heart he had. My go to music is definitely his Gospel songs. I have and listen to a lot are the early soft ballads and the 70’s songs where he excelled in his presentation vocally. Thanks to you Scotty and twin Craig for his part.

Brought tears again to my eyes Scotty. Hello Scotty. another great and informative video about a moment in the life of ELVIS. Of the immense star that he is, it remains no less than a man with his doubts and his pains. Notoriety and money do not prevent psychological pain. Was he really happy? Who could he talk to about his doubts? There are no answers to all of these questions. Elvis was a genius and turned a song into jewels. His voice, his attitude, his face, his contact with the public, his presence on stage have thrilled generations of fans. And despite everything, we can ask ourselves the question: was he happy? Yes it's a great video and I think you are the big internet impressario of ELVIS. Thank you and see you soon. RIP ELVIS. FRANCE.
Great Show, I love the video, great job. Story always moves me. I also believe when Parker got rid of the Books & Larry Geller he gave himself a 50% Raise. Hovering like a Vulture he picked his moment to strike.
@@ScottysElvisPresleyMusicChanel I agree with Parker regarding the soul searching going into an area no different than what the Beatles hippie movement & The Hara Krishna's were doing at that time, Parker did his job there but took advantage of the situation by convincing Elvis & Vernon to give him 50,%. Like a Shark circling his next meal. BTW: my opinion is that it was Larry Geller's influence that led to that fall, possibly was on some heavy hippie stuff + I can't listen to him talk, he turns everything that happened with Elvis into a Bhagavad Gita story..lol
Scot, Craig, another superb upload, delivered as always with sincerity, respect, compassion ,and empathy, never once with the intention to judge , scorn, defame , or question the integrity of your subject. You present facts, In such away that whilst watching and listening youre there in that momemt. You are feeling what your subject felt, you are hurting with him and for him, somehow youre reliving those moments as if its happening right here and now, and its all because of your impeccably descriptive presentation skills . It does not surprise me at all that Elvis would seek great comfort in listening to Boyers album, the spoken words would have a far deeper meaning to Elvis, when words moved Elvis they got him thinking, especially profound and thought provoking as were many of the lyrics on the whole album. His search for answers to his many questions as to mere his exsistance and beyond came from a variety of sources music being one of them. He was clearly at a time in his life when fun and frolicking no more gave satisfaction, nor substance . He needed more from life and his insationable thirst for knowledge and enlightenment was in full swing, sadly those around him were not on the same intellectual level and showed nothing but distain and at times ridicule towards him. How ironic that you chose The track , You Dont Know Me, too many had their own preconceived idea of Elvis , without bothering or caring to look behind the facade. To try to strip away the very essence of a mans motivational aspiration , is nothing but cruel. To think that up to this point he,d endured the monotony and somewhat ludicrousy of most of 24 movie productions that had devoured him mind, body, and soul from the inside out, and noone around him could see it, is a travesty of injustice. The sad thing is to blot out the disillusionment , the disappointment and the emotional pain , he found solace in prescribed medication. Elvis was no fool, while he had been his masters sorry, managers and the Hollywood moguls puppet for way too long, his off screen career had taken a nosedive and only he could do something about that, once his contractual obligations were fulfilled he would be done , the fake and phoney world of Hollywood would be a thing of the past. Hollywood had failed him as an actor, his only hope was that his music career which was the driving force to get some semblance of sanity back in his life was still attainable. He had to think ahead, yet was full of intrepidation as to what the future would bring, his own personal life was about to change and with that brought even more pressures and commitments and the music business itself was very cutthroat. 1967 was most definitely a crossroads in his life and career and he had to make sure he took the right road or everything he'd hoped for and aspired to be would have been in vain. As we knew he was finally freed from the movie shackles in 68 , i and the rest as they say is history. The Boyer album clearly left its imprint on him, and once divorced the tracks he recorded would reflect The intensity it aroused within him, certainly where lost love, broken hearts , and regret was concerned. Elvis had such a sensitive soul, a soul that was so misunderstood by too many for too long. You shot an arrow straight through the heart with this one lads, well done both. Yet another layer of the complexity that was the Elvis peeled back, you reveal the real man behind the image, the man he truely wanted to be but all too often was never allowed to be, Thanks
Hey my friend you get it 1000%.. You clearly think deeply and profoundly about what you write.. I’m very pleased that you are a part of this channel.. In fact everyone plays a part..I feel like Elvis fans have an unbreakable bond that started in 1956 and has never stopped.. You could go back as far as 54 but we will keep it nationally.. Thankyou 😊

What can I say scotty except, well done, what a Video. Listened to a few versions of what now my Love, by different people. But nobody comes close to Elvis version so powerful and sang with all his heart and soul. Thanks Guys yet again. 👍
You people who put thumbs down on this great channel have absolutely no idea the love and work that goes into these videos ..neither may I say have you the knowledge these two guys have that's obvious .
Had some idiot earlier said I was doing this for profit..seriously if anyone think this channel is money driven you are a fool.. The amount I’ve had in donations which I cannot tell you how grateful I am for..but it’s minuscule. The real people out there know why we do it but unfortunately there are always people who know better or think they can do better.. Well I’m waiting..I think the waiting will be never ending.
Another great, informative episode. A very personal introspective time in Elvis's career. One that I've always thought of as him at that point sort of he must have been almost feeling adrift alone at times ...(he himself knew & understood) even though he was surrounded by so many that didn't really understand his own Journey. As we know the 68 Comeback Special was just around the corner, then the come back to live performing. But going back to 1966 his life could have taken so many different directions. Fascinating to even think about at one point he discussed with Larry Geller his desire to become a monk and dedicate his life fully to a spiritual lifestyle.... walking away from entertainment business completely. This is where his own mind and heart was at that time, it must have completely freaked the colonel out ...plus everyone in Elvis's Inner Circle. Of course you know all this as we've discussed in the past and you mentioned in video. Part of me is thankful he didn't get to pursue that Journey, only because of the interruption of the colonel and those around him at that time steering him away from his interest and passion, because it gave Elvis back to us as that legendary live performer for his All Too Short remaining years. But the other part of me feels guilty (or selfish?) for feeling that way because I know he he didn't get to follow his own genuine personal intended path in 1966-67, that may have taken him a completely different direction by the 1970s. Could Ponder this forever and a hundred different ways
Indeed it could have saved him from himself.. It was never going to happen was it..which like you I get the selfish feelings we all have because we wouldn’t have wanted that but it maybe just what he needed.. Thankyou Jay I totally get your thoughts on this😊
" you dont know me" a beautiful song, Ray Charles did a lovely version but every popular cover song Elvis performed he made it his own with his own magic....
My boys you have pulled another fantastic episode out of the bag ..this one is fabulous just fabulous ..yes Elvis would love it too I am sure ...you two do his legacy proud ..I am proud of you both ..you are both so talented in what you do and compliment each other beautifully ..SUPERBXX
I’ve now watched this video three time and all I can say is, WOW! Your depth of background knowledge and how it ties into what is outwardly happening to Elvis is unmatched. Craig’s writing has been nothing short of phenomenal and giving him his proper credit is well deserved. One facet of Elvis’ talents was to recognize and interpret a lyric, not to say that he could be better than another performer performance , but to be inspired by it and then with his performance make it his own. I would say elevate it, but I do not think Elvis would look for that kind of credit. Now that I know of the inspiration of Mr. Boyer to Elvis, I will never listen to “What Now My Love” the same way again. Always a personal favorite of mine, but it has now just risen a notch or two. Thank you both.
@@memphismaverick100 you deserve it, you’re doing outstanding work/writing. It’s easy to see that you and your brother are so well researched with your videos, by far this channel is my favorite that is related to Elvis.
My God I've been an Elvis fan most of my Life, and read books about his life and career. But This is new to me!!!! Still discovering facts about Elvis's life,Amazing life. I have never heard of Boyer and never knew" What now my Love " was from him!!! I've always assumed It was from.the French Singer Gilbert Becaud. My God what a sad story about Boyer, and Elvis being so sensitive picking up on this. I wonder how he got to know about this frenchman??? This was not mainstream music in the U.S. Elvis was an intelligent man searching areas, music and other that most would not consider!!!
That’s what we don’t know Brian..how he came upon it but it certainly stuck with him. The fact it influenced him a great deal is the story in itself..thankyou😊
@@caprice8770 Hello Patricia, that is quite Possible but would Elvis have watched many french movies that are usually subtitled??? Or other European productions??? And did Boyer sing in those movies, making the link to "Et maintenant" in french, thus "What now my Love"??? I know Elvis would rent out a whole movie theatre for Himself and His entourage but for foreign movies I have never read. Not to say That It never happened. At his home is also a Possibility for a screening but no one ever mentioned this that I know of from His entourage
@@brianderiemacker5234 Charles Boyer spoke beautiful English, made many good films in English. I've seen a few of them. Gaslight, Love Affair, and later in his career, the comedy Barefoot in the Park. Thanks to my late mother, she introduced me to all the old classic movies.

Could hardly wait to watch this episode today...i'm so fascinated by your presenting this incredible story , thankyou Scotty, dear friend!!! 🙏👌💯❤ The Colonel just wanted to please his wallet...Elvis' great talent was wasted on the assembly line...😪
Scotty regarding when Elvis had a concussion. The Dr advised Elvis to stay in bed a couple days and Elvis asked Billy Smith(his cousin) to stay in the room with him. I think on the 2nd day Parker barged in and Billy left the room.(He said they Never discussed business in front of anyone.) But he heard Parker yelling and then he heard Elvis yelling. He didn't hear what was said but after Parker left, Elvis made the comment "Pretty soon I'll be working for the Kernel" he asked Elvis what he meant by that, but Elvis played it off as nothing. Billy nieces that's when Parker started taking 50% of Elvis earnings. Not long after that Billy was riding in the car with Parker and Parker said that maybe he ought to be managing Elvis money instead of Vernon. Billy said well you know that's his daddy and he gave him that job. He said Parker got real quiet and didn't talk the rest of the way. This was 1967. Can you imagine the millions he made off Elvis? Then the Greedy SOB wants.to quote manage Elvis money!
There were forces greater than Parker controlling Elvis' career, Parker himself was a lapdog to mobster Kerk Kerkorian and practically a permanent inmate of the Int. Hotel. Think of it what you will but Parker deposited almost all of his earnings back into the Casino. Kerkorian owned the hotel and MGM studio in Culver City where TTWII was filmed, if you watch the original cut of this film you'll notice it's primarily a promo picture for Las Vegas and the Casinos, the Lansky-syndicate were using him to pull people into Vegas which is why they had no interest in letting him tour oversea.
Just great 👍 I'm glad you made your own unique way of telling the story of Elvis's life, I really like this style of storytelling and I enjoy it😍 thank you very much. 🙏

Scotty and Craig, just watched your latest video. Never knew of that album by Charles Boyer. He was before my time, but I've seen some of his movies. I hope Elvis found solace in this. Sounds like our sweet man was a hopeless romantic. The people around him really did not understand him at all.
Elvis was a lover of words and of music !He had such a deep soul which came through in his music and yes even his acting. ! His cousin. Billy. Smith says that he believed this was the time that. Parker took advantage of the situation and got a new contract andbegan getting 50% .He remembers Elvis a heated discussion between the two and afterwards Elvis made the statment that a this rate that. L' ll be working for the Coronal ! I just have one regret as an. Elvis fan is that as much joy Elvis brought to us all that he never really felt fufilled That he was always searching ! ! But in some ways that wS what made him the greatest talent of all time ! My friends you have done it again
Hi guys ...what a great episode...love the way you put it all together guys...yes some of the film's are poor but all elvis fans can find something in them they like...elvis must have been under immense pressure churning these out and not really wanting to do them...love the take on what now my love..brilliantly done guys..Take care ...TCB.👍🏽🤙👑
Hi Scott. You guys are finding some fascinating stories to dig into. Thanks for searching out the Boyer record. I've always been curious about that album. Ironically, Boyer's spoken version seems very melodramatic, whereas Elvis' massive singing makes him sound like a guy right on the edge. In the video, the line "Now there is nothing / Only my last goodbye" struck me as particularly poignant as you could say the words apply equally to his professional life, at least commercially.
Indeed David..I know you love certain lines in songs..me too.. I think the emotions are very similar but also differ at the same time..Boyer is almost acting it out..with Elvis he’s living it out right in front of our eyes.. Both equally as fascinating in my opinion
I very much enjoy your research and all the movies of Elvis . I think you are one in a million Keeping doing what your doing I know Elvis would be absolutely surprised at you and your brother 👍🏻👍🏻❤️❤️

Great episode once again . One sad note some medical experts believe the Elvis fall and knocking himself out on the bathtub in 67 was one of the reasons Elvis eventually died young . Look it up folks . It produced a auto immune response which gave Elvis pain throughout his body causing him to hit the meds even harder .
What a tear-jerker especially when Charles Boyer started to speak and then you showed Elvis. As you said you could just feel what Elvis could have felt listening to him! Goodness, can't stop crying ,what an emotion tonight!! Thank you!

well it was certainly worth the build up, great story telling and learnt more about Elvis yet again. Great video Scotty. I feel i learn more about Elvis with each of your videos. Who would have thought Charles Boyer - amazing stuff.
The song must have rung true to Boyer. He committed suicide two days after his wife of 44 years died. And that record came out the same year his son committed suicide after breaking up with his girlfriend. BTW, Clambake co-star Will Hutchins recently turned 91. He once said, “I’m convinced Elvis would have won an Oscar if he would have never met Col. Parker.”
That's so sad regarding what Will Hutchins said. Because one viewing of King Creole proves that it's true. Flaming Star, too. Such slow burn subtlety . . . Dr. King had a sermon called "Unfulfilled Dreams." He tells the congregation about King David and says that while all of life is a tale of unfulfilled dreams, "it is well that it is in thine heart. You had the desire. It is well." I sometimes think of Elvis' biggest dream that became a nightmare for him. And wish he could have heard that sermon. "It is well."
@@RobinMarkowitzcoolmedia Even if he never won an Oscar, it would have been nice to see a career filled with movies similar to Follow That Dream and Kid Galahad. Solid performances in nice, fun movies. Rock Hudson and many others had great careers doing that.
Hi Scotty, What a Video !!! I think that is your best one yet .Especially near the end where it goes from Charles Boyer to Elvis singing (Made the hairs stand on the back of my neck ) Keep up the good work! Fantastic !!!
I know you put a load of effort into these , and how proud you are of them and you should be, you put it together amazingly, and I’m proud to see how many people enjoy and leave you such great comments.
Yes great content, script and great production and great delivery it is no wonder why your subscriber numbers are increasing. One of my go to songs for comfort is a song, not sung by Elvis to my knowledge though a song, that he would have Sherrill Nielsen sing to him over and over again; Come Ye Disconsolate. It was on a 1972 album by Donnie Hathaway and Roberta Flack and I often wonder if it was this version he first heard. The lyrics take a bit of time to get your head round but I can really understand why Elvis loved this tune so much; it really speaks of a broken.heart and spirit. Thanks again for another great post Scott, and a nod to Craig too for the great script.
He made a few good movies with some serious acting. Its sad, because he was going to rid himself of the Colonel, but he left us before he could do so. He had wanted to slow down on concerts and do more charitable work for children, because he loved them so much. He was truly a good man at heart and he had wanted more children of his own. We lost a true gem that nobody can ever replace. A good old poor country boy that worked himself to death to make it big. Myself will always miss this special gifted man who left us to soon. Thank you Elvis for all the beauty you brought to this sad old World!!!!!!!
Beautiful. Elvis forever! 💖💖💖🌹🌹😔

At this time he needed more from his manager than taking even more from him..
Sadly Parker wasn’t that type of person..to put others before himself
Yet another layer of the complexity that was the Elvis peeled back, you reveal the real man behind the image, the man he truely wanted to be but all too often was never allowed to be,
Thanks

You never cease to amaze me, this gave me goosebumps thank you
It was great that but wasn’t it😊
Another great, informative episode.
Thankyou Jay I totally get your thoughts on this😊
Walk-in away becoming a monk might of been the best thing for Elvis to break Free
from the life he was living it was not to be
" you dont know me" a beautiful song, Ray Charles did a lovely version but every popular cover song Elvis performed he made it his own with his own magic....
So very true.

Thanks Dave your words fill me with joy 😊
Me too, and never heard this story before. Very heart breaking. But, just about everything I have read about Elvis breaks my heart.
Elvis being the movie buff that he was, probably saw many movies with Charles Boyer.

Kerkorian owned the hotel and MGM studio in Culver City where TTWII was filmed, if you watch the original cut of this film you'll notice it's primarily a promo picture for Las Vegas and the Casinos, the Lansky-syndicate were using him to pull people into Vegas which is why they had no interest in letting him tour oversea.
my opinion Elvis was working for his so called manager

Scotty and Craig, just watched your latest video. Never knew of that album by Charles Boyer. He was before my time, but I've seen some of his movies.
I hope Elvis found solace in this.
Sounds like our sweet man was a hopeless romantic. The people around him really did not understand him at all.
I guess you are right..though he did have a couple around him that I think got him..but not many😊
Elvis was a lover of words and of music !He had such a deep soul which came through in his music and yes even his acting. ! His cousin.

Great episode once again . One sad note some medical experts believe the Elvis fall and knocking himself out on the bathtub in 67 was one of the reasons Elvis eventually died young . Look it up folks . It produced a auto immune response which gave Elvis pain throughout his body causing him to hit the meds even harder .

Parker.”
I never heard that comment..probably true..
Thanks for the info on Boyer😊
How terribly sad, i never knew that.
Yes that pretty much sums it up..it did turn into his own nightmare
@@RobinMarkowitzcoolmedia Even if he never won an Oscar, it would have been nice to see a career filled with movies similar to Follow That Dream and Kid Galahad. Solid performances in nice, fun movies. Rock Hudson and many others had great careers doing that.

Thanks Lee
He made a few good movies with some serious acting. Its sad, because he was going to rid himself of the Colonel, but he left us before he could do so. He had wanted to slow down on concerts and do more charitable work for children, because he loved them so much. He was truly a good man at heart and he had wanted more children of his own. We lost a true gem that nobody can ever replace. A good old poor country boy that worked himself to death to make it big. Myself will always miss this special gifted man who left us to soon. Thank you Elvis for all the beauty you brought to this sad old World!!!!!!!
What ifs now Rebecca ..but your sentiment is just lovely..I appreciate your kind thoughts😊
