I'm a huge - as in HUGE, - SRV fan, and have every live recording etc. to ever be collected....also a guitar player....and 'I've said this before (over and over) and got bashed by many fellow SRV fans, but I do think that Jesse Davey got the tone Stevie was looking for....and he plays one hell of a guitar too... heavily inspired by stevie yes...so what ?....he does great, and Jon Amor does great too....and not the least; The Hoax is a f...... great and original band...love them..!
Tone .......I would have to give it to this guy....he's got it down, or had it down, he has since changed his style and still plays fantastic.....Intensity.....I would have to give to Philip Sayce though ......only other guitar player I've seen match SRV's intensity.
two of the most awesome guitarists ever in one band! i wish these guys would come to the states and tour and put out more music for sale. they are unbelievable! thanks for the post
Supported them back somewhere in the 90's at the (long gone) Red Lion in Brentford. They sounded absolutely fantastic then, and obviously still do. Thanks for posting. What a guitar tone! We could do with a lot more like that.
Wow!!!! This guy is really original and so unique!!! His guitar tone is soooo amazing, new and innovative!!! I think this guy is gonna be one of the biggest guitar players on earth and probably will influence the rest of the guitar players. He'll change the blues, man. He mixes Albert King and Hendrix so perfectly! Thanks for posting such a creative thing.
Waiting for my Duellist pedal in the mail, and came to hear Jesse Davey in action. Damn! This track was smokin! On my way to dig up all the Hoax tunes I can find.
Used to love watching the hoax a long time ago,a band from bristol called " The mean blues monsters" used to support em,seen em loads in the north east, does anyone know what became of em ? They were a 3 piece & they were fucking brilliant aswell 🎸🎸👍👍
@@starchild6347 Maybe...if they heard the original...like Stevie Ray did and covered it, Buddy Guy did and covered it, Albert Collins did and covered it, Chuck Berry did and covered it, Pee Wee Crayton did and covered it, The Fabulous Thunderbirds did and covered it etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. A very covered and copied song...at some point you go back and hear the originals.
@@MrStanleyMilton The idea of doing a cover or interpretation of a song is to do it in a unique way and put your own stamp on it…. Just as the artists you mentioned did, These are SRV licks, with different words…. a facsimile. I’ve personally, not got any time for it.
@@starchild6347 The signature riff after the first line of the verses is directly taken from Guitar Slims; Things I use to Do...However you are correct about tons of SRV style licks thrown in as well.
Saw them last sunday in zoetermeer, the Netherlands. An experience I'll never forget. I mean, even their version of 'Come Together' was better than the original by the Beatles, and I frikkin love The Beatles. I'm gonna purchase an album soon.
Sounds really good and like so many others I'm a huge SRV fan. I think it's great they are paying tribute to Stevie, and I "get" the devotion and respect. But I'm totally uncomfortable with tribute bands who feel the need to completely and totally replicate Stevie's persona from facial expressions to clothing. They remind me of Elvis impersonators. Entertaining, but still not the real deal.
These guys are so badass. What a sound they have and two awesome guitar players and that singer has a great blues voice!!

saw them so many times in pubs in the uk in the 80s and 90s -- great live.
Always been my favourite Hoax track, never get tired of hearing it. 👏👏👏

That's not only playing like SRV, but even imitating his movements and facial expressions.

Yet another SRV track with different words! Ha! Great stuff!
...Actually... Guitar Slim's; "Things I use to Do".
@@MrStanleyMilton For sure…. But the Hoax never would have ‘written’ this song but for the SRV version, right?

What? this is the first I've heard that SRV started the blues!
Hi, friend, please record the Driving Blind song. Thanks!
Holly Shit! This is fuckin awesome! These motherfuckers know how to make a Texas blues
we can talk now, since it's on Jon's site and the festival sites. Great news!

SRV reborn!!! i'd sell my soul for that tone!
Great Fender amp, Jessy's King Tone The Duelist, a fat pickup set, and then turn it up to breakup. You won't be able to do it in your room though :-)
Things i've used to do / Fabulous Thunderbirds (or S.R.V) ;)
I couldn't put my finger on it as to why this sounded so familiar ,you were right on the mark.
Geweldige band , onbekend maakt onbemind , luister ook maar eens naar supersticious g e w e l d i g
very good !!
Does anyone have a video of Jon and Jesse's 'party piece' where Jon plays Jesse's guitar from behind and jesse plays Jons?
They should get back together!!!
Geweldige band en te bewonderen op Hookrock 04/07
DEVIZES BOYS . REMEMBER THEM AT MIDSOMER NORTON FESTIVAL EARLY 90 IES
Holy Shit!!!
Mr Tone Good stuff 😎
And by the way Jesse makes some fantastic gear Ears and hands equals magic Most builder's aren't the best players but w JD he "gets IT"
wooooowwwwwwhat a Fucking great band
P.S. what re union gig? YOU LUCKY BUGGER!!!
Too many people are compared to SRV--what happened to the groundbreakers in Missip and Bammy?
Oh this just smokes!!!
Damn.
rockin'
fucking mint!!!!!!!!
What's the genesis of this band's name? They can call themselves whatever they want, but "hoax" has a negative connotation. Just curious.
a pure fucking band no clone , just pure talents

another SRV clone......
may be, but this is the best SRV clone i've ever heard. His live playing is phenomenal!
good comment
Poor tommy katona he just found better clone than him
Definitely not. Two completely different styles. Maybe you'll know now better after some years.
Take it you never saw them live then. Far from a clone actually, Jesse is a killer player
