Shibaura make alot larger mowers and tractors . The reason its still working is Ford did not touch the design . Shibaura and Kubota are big competitors thru out asia and Pacific regions . Once you have mowed with a diesel you will never have a gas again ever.
I believe it is a double belt that runs direct off the engine located either right behind the grill or a black plate directly below the hood/grill area. It is a simple tension style engagement setup that may need to be adjusted tighter or the belts replaced. This setup in turn drives the shaft going to the deck.
I would NOT use it full time, this should be a collector tractor used a few times a year, it would bring good money to collectors, and believe me there's plenty of them. It is too good for daily wear & tare!
It's actually a Shibaura, re branded as a Ford, had one for 27years, best small tractor ever
Not built today like this one. This is a keeper! Not a throw away 2 year old Home Depot special.
Beautiful tractor! I have the same model, but 1990. I also have the rear pto and 3 pt hitch. I use it to till gardens with. Love it!!
Oops, sorry. Mine is a 16D!
Now that is cool!
mint
Made in Japan actually means quality. Interesting not a ford guy but it's really cool.

What type of gas does the ford 120 lawn tractor take?
Would you consider selling ? Seriously thanks. That thing is beautiful
I have recently bought myself a 1989 and I’m looking for parts if can can you help me with information on getting new belts and tips?
When I needed parts I was actually able to get them from directly from the local new holland dealer without any issues
Time to sell the John Deere I just bought last week.
