Jane, tip from Chef AJ...Once you get the main amount of material out of your food processor, put it back on and the blade will spin clean. You could save your tovolo from the blade.
I always take the opportunity to make my hubby a smoothie when I need to "clean" the blade :) After making that, it's a breeze to blend up the soapy water for a deep clean!
I made chickpea cookies yesterday and tried this tip...works like a dream! How did I never think of doing this before?? My spatulas are breathing a sigh of relief! 😁
“I have set my timer”. I. thank you so much for your TH-cam videos. I’m 70 and just 3 months in this new way of eating. You’ve simplified things so much for me. I already have 3 of your books and Rip also and not a day goes by that I don’ t go through them. I 💞💞💞💞
I love your kitchen. It looks so homey and cozy, unlike modern expansive kitchens in all neutral colors with nothing on the countertops. Looking forward to trying the fudge.
Haha i expect to get shouted down here, but i dont agree. Just my personal preference but i REALLY would rather have the cold modern expansive kitchens in neutral colours with empty benchtops! : ) That's my dream! But what have i had all my life? A homey cozy "old fashioned" too small kitchen w/ red floral canisters, a purple toaster, blue kettle, yellow coffee cups & cluttered benchtops. Sigh. Oh well. Maybe 1 day? lol
We are very new to plant-based eating but just wanted to say we made this for our Thanksgiving dessert and even shared it with family members. It was a thumbs up from all of us, especially my husband who usually survives on Hershey kisses every night. This has been his treat instead. Thank you for the great videos. I have now purchased all the books also. Even though I’m 59 I have never really cooked many meals that were not out of a box, canned, or frozen pizza! So I’m learning now with your help!! 😬
This is so delicious and chocolatey. Wow! I will repeatedly make this. So easy.... I made it with pistachios the first time, and pecans the second since it's what I had. LOVE the pistachios as did my coworkers. I have a 9 X 9 dish freezing right now that I am "experiMINTing" with--- I replaced the vanilla with peppermint extract to try mint chocolate fudge.
After dumping the majority out of the cuisinart.... run it again quick... the spinning will clean off the blade, which you then remove and scrape down the sides. No scaring and you get all the goodness! 😁
Looks amazing! Quick tip about your dilemma getting all the batter out - once most of the batter is removed, put it back on the base and pulse to get the most off of the blade. Once the blade is clean, it’s easier to remove and clean out the rest of the bowl! Magic!
yeah but what about in my blender? i dont have a food processor & i hate that vitamix blade doesnt come out. why cant they make an EJECT button where the blade is removable? i dont mind the cleaning cos it IS easy using the vitamix method. (half fill jug w/water & 1drop dish liquid then 20 seconds on high. hey presto! just EZ rinse!) BUT i hate waste! & enough cookie dough hides under blades for another cookie!
I make a similar recipe but I use date/fig/prune paste instead of maple syrup and organic PB powder instead of walnuts. I always keep the skins on the sweet potatoes, too, so don't worry about peeling them! If you don't have sweet potato, feel free to substitute acorn or butternut squash. The recipe is very adaptable... I've also used hemp seeds for a creamy texture and extra protein. It's a great pre- or post-workout snack!
@@blk3118 I'm embarrassed to say that I rarely measure ANYTHING. I've been cooking/baking from scratch for so long that I know visually and texturally if something is "right." However, I'd say it's a mix of 1/2 acorn or butternut squash with 2 (skin on) Japanese Sweet Potato/Stokes (purple)/Jewel and/or Garnet potatoes. I add a Tbsp.or so of PB powder, about 1/2 c. raw cacao powder, 1/3 c (ish) date/fig/prune puree and 1/4 c hemp seeds. After blending well, I manually fold in ground chia/flaxseeds to thicken it. Tastes better when cooled overnight. I serve over a bean/lentil and grain bowl that I cook like oatmeal and garnished with celery/coleslaw and fresh berries!
I was waiting for the frosting’s turn....good catch, Jane! I make a black bean brownie, with the white Japanese sweet potato in it, but I’d like to try your frozen treat, too.
How did I miss this dessert? I have the cookbook. Perfect timing for the holiday. Regular fudge is made with - white sugar, cocoa powder, vanilla, milk, and butter. Using the sweet potato is so clever - I'm wondering if I'll be able to tell it's in there. Gotta try it - and soon. Thanks for demonstrating another great recipe from this book. I love it.
Kefir Heals, since you have the cookbook, and many of us don't, could you please tell us the amounts of each ingredient in this recipe? That would be so very much appreciated.
After watching this video, I had to make. Your videos are opening my eyes to so many recipes that I already had (Engine 2 Cookbook) but just had not tried. Before blending the walnuts, I made up a 1/2 cup of oat flour. I had everything for the recipe except pistachios. In their place, I used sliced almonds. I don’t know if we will be able to wait until tomorrow to eat but will try.
Anne is a pusher..😅with the sweet potato skin..😂 Love those glass containers with bamboo tops-I’ve noticed the top lasts longer when I use parchment paper to protect lid from the food, wood could get stained after a while. This recipe sounds amazing!!!!
I was wondering what happened to the part you poured into the small bowl earlier! I thought I had missed something and would need to watch the video again!! Louise Jacobs
u guys r great! Im gonna make this for Christmas, but i think im gonna try black walnuts instead of pistachios. When i was a kid, mom would tell us to go crack a cup of black walnuts and then she would make fudge, it would take me all day but it was worth it, They r so hard to get out of the shell, we would pick them out with a nail
When you added the oat flour, I was expecting the slice to be baked! But of course we eat raw oats in muesli and overnight oats so oat flour is great for this! Thanks so much for your wonderful recipes and funny videos. Happy holidays to all your family from l of us Downunder
Easy cleaning of the blade is to scoop out most of the stuff in the processor and then put the lid back on, turn on the processor and whiz the blade again for just a few seconds. The spinning motion pulls the excess off the blade and to the sides. So you can take the clean blade out and then scrape the rest. You don’t want to waste any of that goodness!
I'm wondering how well this might work using date paste, or date syrup, instead of the maple syrup. I think dates are more of a whole unrefined food as compared to maple syrup. I might try that and let you know!
@@cg4806 i use date "sugar" which is just dehydrated date syrup. works great. the powdery texture is especially good to roll bliss balls in, instead of coconut. might try making balls outa this recipe too!
Save your kitchen tools from the blade by scooping out the majority of the food staying away from the blades, then spin the blade one more time so all the food whips off the blade to the sides -- then you can remove the nearly clean blade and swipe the sides of the processor with the scraper / spatula / tovalo / spoon to get the last of the food. Saw it on Chef AJ. Thanks for sharing the recipe 😍
