like a child after throwing sand at mom at the playground: "will you pick me up and hold me in your arms?" Carrie we are adults we are not in kindergarten, let's take accountability
Carrie had all the audacity when it came to Aiden, the way she wanted him to still come to the wedding, then how SHE decided to pursue him again after she broke his heart, then told him "you have to forgive me" refusing Aiden and still keeping a friendship with Big and inviting him to the cabin... my goodness, leave some audacity for others
Even dogs do not love unconditionally, just go to any animal shelter to see that. Lots of dogs have had their trust broken and will growl at everyone until they have healed. Every single living being has limits and boundaries.
Carrie feels victimized by Big and therefore sees her victimhood as an ‘okay’ to cheat. Like she gets a pass to be shitty to Aiden because Big is/was shitty to her. This is what happens when you never self-reflect and heal from your past.
Yeah Carrie that only work if Aiden was the a****** in this case. But no, big is. She did cheat on him, but she never told him it was only that one time.
I think Carrie also telling him right before heading to the wedding was trapping Aiden and trying to minimize his ability to really react, like putting pressure on him to immediately act like everything is ok because they are expected to play 'couple' in public.
Speaking of the smoking part, I also see it as a metaphor for the cheating itself, since Carrie says she has trouble "quitting" which can be interpreted as having trouble quitting Big. Aiden saying he'll learn to live with it could be what Carrie wanted to hear in regards to her guilt for cheating, although we know that realistically Aiden does not want to and does not have to " learn to live" with Carrie cheating on him obviously.
I find it so weird that Carrie is smooching in LA, shows that she doesn't really have any feelings for Aidan. She just wants a man to validate her. She did the same when Big went to Paris.
I think Aiden’s reaction of saying 'I know' comes from the fact that he is still processing the situation. It is not correct or rational because he is emotionally shocked. I remember that he just had told her that he loved her, and he was probably trying to convince himself that Carrie changed her behavior for another reason. For me, his 'I know' means that he is trying to believe she cares, and he didn’t have enough time to process everything at that moment.
The smoking itself isn’t the red flag, it’s the deceit. If Carrie were upfront with Aidan that she was struggling with her addiction to cigarettes, then he has every reason to choose to prioritize the commitment over the boundary he tried to set, because in that case it would be a matter of them being in a healthy partnership and supporting each other. It’s reasonable to be flexible on the actual smoking, but not addressing the dishonesty is definitely sticking your head in the sand about relationship problems.
The way she finally confessed just shows how selfish, self centered Carrie is. Her only reason to tell Aiden, the way she did it was to unburned herself. To somehow take the lies and betrayal and make it now Aidan's problem. Cheating isn't a flaw, it is an act of betrayal and he didn't owe her forgiveness or understanding. She didn't even say it at a time when he could absorb it and let him process or ask her anything. She blurted it out like diarrhea ten minutes before a wedding. Uncontrollable! Then started ranting at him "Forgive me, forgive me!" How can you demand forgiveness as well within 5 seconds of confessing. If she wanted Aiden really she'd have stopped with Big sooner. But I think she was waiting for Big to say I'm gonna leave Natasha for you and let's make a commitment. It never happened and now she has this guy who is too good. But Carrie is so messy and selfish, she doesn't care if she hurts Aiden. Aiden was an after thought. Personally I feel she should have kept it to herself despite the guilt killing her. Take that guilt and burden and keep it for yourself and treat him better. Of course he could find out later, after all now dozens of people knew about it. Overall I hated that told him that way and wanted him to forgive her immediately.
34:25 Unconditional love isn't usually there 🌚. Even if it's unconditional, a relationship can't be that way , because loyalty, empathy etc are the basic pre-requisites .
I can see how Aiden misses the red flags. When you love someone and think that love is based on that person’s inner essence, a deal breaker (like smoking) turns into a quirk. The sum becomes greater than its parts. Aiden thinks he loves the whole Carrie, not realizing that she’s holding major parts of herself back because, as you said, being with someone “good” like Aiden means that she is a better person than she believes. People fall in love with who they think someone is, instead of who they actually are sometimes. It stinks. And it’s better not to end up in a relationship like that for the long run.
Yeah, exactly. He has no reason to believe she is cheating, and he loves her already, so he is always turning toward her, which would actually be a healthy way to build a trusting relationship. Which is why many good people get cheated on, because they assume the other person is similar to them.
Carrie is horrible to everyone and treats them like they exists to serve her, that's why I never felt bad for her when Big treated her like sh*t. He's a horrible person but she deserved everything he did to her.
Regarding Joe Goldberg and the YOU novels, my suggestion would be to listen to the audiobooks. Reason being that as it his perspective and stream of consciousness-it is simply more effective hearing the narrator’s voice (v similar to the Netflix actor’s one). The pauses and gestures on certain words, statements and gestures that are heavily loaded elevates much more than words on a page. Would be very interested in your insight. It would require many, many uploads as there is so much to discuss per chapter. I prefer it when you show a heated discussion that you feel deserves emotion because it matters. Having the courage of convictions should be admired. More uploads please 🙏 x
If it waa causing her that much guilt, she really shoulda stopped after the "bad hotel". It wasnt fun anymore, she was uncomfortable, she seemed boted of it. Also she could have told him "i dont want you anymore" instead of "what about our partners? Because obviously Big didnt give a crap. She wouldve been lying but it mightve helped t o keep him away.
Also, I feel like New Yorkers get jaded about wealth eventually, because you're bumping into TONS of rich folks just day to day in NYC and you learn pretty quick they are just jerks, not these great aspirational people who will really easily let you into their club. So Carrie being so naive and child like in the face of displays of wealth is surprising. Every New Yorker I know would just roll their eyes at obnoxious flexing like house guy.
I love these episodes! While I was watching this today, I was thinking… Like now, I am in my 30s. And I was watching these series on TV when I was like.. I don't know, 15-16 years old. Something like that. And the way I saw it then.. God. The writing is not good, especially for young women. I know, I know, this TV show was created for women in their 30s, probably then, but we all watched it when we were much younger. And YES, the TV show was created by a man. A woman wrote the book, but the show… I don’t know; I think this TV show a little bit ruined our perception of relationships back then.
The amount of times youve made me laugh out loud with your commentary! I had to subscribe. Love the sex and the city content but could probably listen to you talk about anything because youre hillaruous! Thank you for all the laughs and great videos!
There are always signs if someone is cheating. But it takes a lot of self-awareness to act on it also lot's of growth. Carrie wasn't there with Big either Aiden wasn't with Carrie. SPOILER ALERT Even years later that hasn't change. Only in Just like that Carrie admits that the love with Big was a big mistake and Aiden is the one. But then he has some issues and let her somehow down. So karma is a b....😂
37:10 😂😂 youre talking like youre not the calmest person roasting carrie 😂😂 babes youre fine your tone gives the tired annoyed friend if anything. I love your vibes and give that good friend who just wants you to not make dumb decisions🖤
“What about the wedding?” Girl- If she wasn’t so impulsive, I would almost think that she told him before the wedding on purpose-as if to force him to immediately compartmentalize it so that it would seem more minimal somehow.

So true!
Sounds like an accurate description to me 💯

She said "he was married, and it was a mess" before any kind of apology. 😂 On the DAY of her friend's wedding.
seriously 😒
inviting big to the cabin is actually devil's work
I'm yet to get there🫣
Please don't change! We watch you because of your emotional rawness. It's refreshing and insightful. ❤

Uff, yes, nice catch!

Sooo true - that recovery was QUICK!

Love these videos. Also when you say Mary it really feels like you’re talking directly to me lol

"unconditional" love was made by narcissists to keep their victims in line and duped
💯
'Until he locked her in his basement, but ...details" really made me laugh 😂
I’ve never seen sex in the city but I LIVE for these videos

I love how carrie told him like he just forgive her 😭 on the spot
I don’t think you sound angry lol! I think you sound frustrated with her choices and frustrated with the way people romanticize her relationships.
lol! What in the narc.... are we talking about here? You are effortlessly funny.
That's not "a cute guy", that's just Vince Vaughn 😂
😂😂😂😂
Hi :) Show as many emotions as you want. I like your videos, cause all your emtions are natural :)

Complete BS tho. If Big was still alive she would be with him and not want Aiden
It was truly the cherry on top that Aidan dumped her in AJLT, he finally got to make her feel the way he felt except he didn’t cheat like she did 😂
@@witchf4ce310 Exactly. Shes only saying that because bigs worm food
"She met a creep" 😂

“What about the wedding?” Girl-

Of course it's nice when guys try to impress us.. it's part of the meeting process (referring to the drawing)
I‘m convinced she has a borderline personality disorder. Trust me. It takes one to know one. Unfortunately.
I did feel triggered at some point when you called carrie out. But its okay. As you said. We need that.
43:20 LOL

I love you
I like you so much, where are you from? ❤

Apparently there is some evidence that cheating has a genetic factor behind it.
