What I love about James May, is the fact that throughout his entire career in the public eye on TV, even at times as when there were only 5 channels to pick from. HE has retained his personal integrity throughout, you can tell he has stayed true to who is is, and has found a wage from it sheerly by being an amazing, intelligent, polite, anal retentive, and humbling human. I just got my drivers license two days ago in Singapore after failing once.

By far my favourite of the three. Literate, likes to approach things in his own way, seems kind and a true friend to even Clarkson. When Clarkson got fired, he shows his true nature. Go watch the inverview when the news broke out.

I like manual transmissions because if you have a problem like a dead battery, you can push them off. For example, I had a dead cell in my battery and couldn't get a new one till the next day. I needed diapers for my son. So I pulled up in front of the store on a slight grade. Got the diapers and sure enough, it wouldn't start. So I put it in neutral. Got it rolling. Hopped in put it in second gear. Let the clutch out. Jerk jerk jerk and it started. Went home and my son was quite happy to have a fresh nappy.

I think it's just you and me that noticed. And in which country can you buy both a mustang and a Peugeot? You can buy one in the Usa but not the other.
@Jeffrey Dittburner can confirm mustangs are for sale in EU. Quite many of them around here since the introduced the four cilinder ecoboost. With emission taxes those are twice as cheap as the v8 gt's.

Yeap, same here in Lithuania, and there's a hefty fine if you drive standard transmission car with only automatic drivers license too.

Was lucky enough to ride in a P90D and sweet thumping Buddha it goes like a.... well, really the only sensation I can genuinely relate it to was like a scary but quiet amusement park ride. All linear, never relenting pressure.
As another sleeper I'd say one of the twin turbo Volvo's. Little bit of lag but half the price of the full-out Model S but a brand association with Actuaries and accountants.

What is your opinion on the new Suzuki Jimny? Is it still just a run about for those who live out in the countryside or is this a Jimny that is can compete with the Golf's, Fit's and etc. around town?
Honestly, why would the Jimny be not good for the town? It's relatively small (I mean it, every generation of Honda Civic is larger), agile, with a reasonable engine for such light car. It's a perfect town car as well as a good, if small, all-terrain vehicle.

Is it just me or did James misunderstand that Peugeot Mustang question? From what I understand the guy was trying to say I used to have a Mustang but now I've bought a Peugeot, so what's wrong with me? Pretty sure that's what the was trying to say. Anyway, regardless of that I really enjoyed this video!
always a treat to watch Dr. James May
I always advice anyone about to get their licence, to learn how to drive a manual, and get that licence. Especially young people. It's easy to imagine, if you've not driven cars much and don't have a licence, that you'll use your family's automatic and buy auto once you get your own can, and that's that. But in reality, we usually end up driving a lot of different cars over the years, many of which are not our own, and we don't get to choose whether or not those are automatics or manual. It may even be a requirement for a job at a later point, that you don't realize/imagine now.
So even if you don't intend to _own_ a manal, I strongly advice to learn how to drive one, and don't get a limited licence. You don't know what kind of car use, requirements, needs, relationship you might have a year or two further down the line. Learning manual and getting a manual licence, leaves your options wide open. It is also much preferrable to learn to operate a manual, while you're learning the rest of operating a car. It's really not hard, and when the time come and you need to drive a manual, it will be a natural part of driving, rather than an intrusive and distracting "new" element. You'll basically be a safer driver when doing it.
IMO it's one of those "better to have and not need" things, although at some point you're all but guaranteed to need this one.
I originally was going for an automatic licence but the lessons were more expensive for me, so I chose to learn manual, ten years later, I glad that I did.

Two things about automatics: you can't bump start them and you can only tow them with a designated tow vehicle, not with another car.
You can tow 1 behind anything if the drive shaft is removed. They will tow start above 30mph.
In the US 250 million cars are automatic so I think those are minor problems lol
Wait, not even on neutral gear? I mean, I'm pretty clueless on cars, but I took a manual license at least. I do know that the friction plate and gear plate will release on neutral, so the wheels aren't attached to the engine anymore. Is it different in automatics? Is the clutch still engaged even on neutral?
@@aphenioxPDWtechnology I see, thank you, I was wondering why you can't feel the gear changes in an automatic, whereas in some older automatics l could still feel the clutch disengaging, like a manual transmission but automatically worked.
Good luck pulling the driveshaft on a front peeler, which is 95% of cars here.
The reason one doesn't feel the shifts on a modern automatic anymore is the engine electronics rev-match the shifts seamlessly, L Ys. Sequential automatics even make 'clutchless' shifts and only use the torque converter for transitioning between being stopped and moving.

Mr Perv here once went on the highway, doing 90 mph while finger banging the girl I was with at that time, basically one hand on the wheel, two fingers in the hole. And yes, the car was a manual. And yes, the stick ended up really wet, haha. xD So you should be able to handle a couple of McDonald's fries. xD
