as a child of a mom that kept her last name, let me tell you it really doesn’t matter if you don’t have the same last name of your future kids. i have my moms last name as my middle name, which i like. but because i’ve had a relationship with her family, and not my dads (they all died before i was born) , i’ve always felt more connected with her last name rather than my dads. plus all that paperwork just seems like a nightmare! :)
Just wanted to share as an EDS girly who had a spinal csf leak (so painful and disabling) and therefore a neurosurgeon... That my neurosurgeon said absolutely no chiropractors. Sharing this with love!❤
Ive been watching almost all of your videos for over three years, and the nonchalant way you said " People will have opinions," was EPIC. It's a new time babeeeee!
Love your decision to do it in your own time!! What’s the rush? When you get married you don’t need to change your whole identity (unless you want to, more power to you!) I’m all about doing what’s best for you. I didn’t change my name when I got married because I have a deep connection to my heritage. A supportive husband in this is everything. I also think I may change my name when I have kids because I’m not dead set on which name to give my kids but I do know I’ll probably want the same name. Our opinions in the comments really don’t matter, but I just wanted to reaffirm that whatever decision you make, is YOURS and will be the right one 😊

I have been married for over 5 years now and never changed my name :). I am having my third baby too and still haven’t felt the need to change it. Of course nothing wrong with changing your name, but for me I’m happy I kept mine :).
Same, my mom, my grandmother, my aunt and all the women in my family didn't change their names. I won't be changing mine either because of the long process, the financial cost, having to change it everywhere, etc. There's no need to change it
I was married a few years and did not change my name and my husband was fine with it. Once I had my son, I wanted to have the same name as him so that's when I changed it. You're doing it right, take you time to decide. Best of luck!
You could also give your kids the name Janse! Not sure why men’s surnames are the default when women do the birthing work (and often most of the caring) 💕
I know in the state I live in on your drivers license they drop your middle name and use your first, maiden, and then married last name. But you can choose on your social security.
I did not change my name last year when I got married and people were SO weird about it but I’m actually really content with my decision. It doesn’t make us any less a family. My name is my identity for 27 years and is on all my diplomas. There are also so many cultures who don’t change their names. Like in Quebec, Canada, it’s actually illegal to change your name when you get married haha. I totally support your idea 😊 I also find it weird that the default is to give kids the father’s name when the woman is the one who gave birth 🤔
Hi Michel! Having recently gotten married I completely understand wanting to keep your maiden name, as I had a hard time with the thought of giving mine up. What I decided to do is add my maiden name as a second middle name. So I have two middle names instead of one. Both my middle names are listed on my passport, driver’s license, bank, etc. My social security card is the only one that wouldn’t let me do both, so it just has my original middle name, but that hasn’t been a problem for obtaining other government documents. All I did was fill out paperwork for a name change request, file it with the court system, then they give you a court date to appear before a judge and answer a couple questions. Then after the judge approves it you get a certified copy of the name change and use that to show as proof as you change your SSN, license, bank, etc. I am so glad I did it and wouldn’t change a thing. I love both my middle name and my maiden name, and I’m grateful I didn’t have to part with either of them. With all that said, I’m sure you will be happy regardless of what you end up deciding to do. And even if you do change your name down the road, it’s nice to wait a while when it is so much work and such a headache. Much love to you! ❤️

Some couples merge their surnames to make a new combined name. Eg, taking the first 1-2 syllables or letters of one surname and adding the last 1-2 syllables or letters of the other surname. They might both take this name, or both keep their original surnames and give the new surname to just their kids. When the UK tv presenter Dawn Porter married her actor husband Chris O’Dowd, she became Dawn O’Porter.
It's your life and you decide what's best for you and your family. In other countries women don't change their last names at all and I've seen more and more men getting their wife's last name, there's nothing wrong with either. To each their own.
I've been married 11 years and I never changed my name!! I love O'Reilly as my last name. My daughter is almost 5 and that may be the only reason I change it..but still keeping O'Reilly for now ❤
Hi Michel! 👋🏻💖👋🏻 Just fyi Botox & autoimmune diseases aren't the best combo. I'm sure you already did your homework, but just in case you didn't take that into consideration I wanted you to know 😉
I agree - when I got rheumatoid arthritis my doctor did not treat me with Botox anymore because it’s contraindicated. But not everyone is that honest - it’s making money fast . Besides that there is also something like “Botox Fatigue “ . Starting at a Young age ,eventually you need more and more units .
I came to the comments to say this as well! I am also autoimmune and have researched Botox. It's not worth it due to all the complications and side effects!
Michel, i love you and i promise you this isn't coming from a place of judgement or negativity, or anything - but you do not need Botox! Your beautiful face doesn't even wrinkle. I say this as someone who started Botox around your age and has been doing it for nearly a decade now, but i need it, unfortunately. Love you 😘
I kept my name. I don’t regret it at all. My childhood, and my growing up happened with my name. Marrying my husband and taking his name at that time did not make sense to me. I was educated and had my career growing at that moment. These were my achievements and that of my family. I don’t think women need to change their names. We have our personal autonomy. We choose our husband and stand with him - holding our own place, our love, and spirit.
Millennial parent here. I had one kid in 2009 & one at the beginning of 2015. First kid was allll about meal trains & home cooked food. Second kid I could feel the transition more to take out & baskets so you might be onto something. I love the latter honestly, gifting & receiving. Also I’m not the best cook. 🙃
Michel I decided to move to, can I just uggggggg. I am older then you by a bit so I realize I better start early packing, clearing out the not needed, ect. Can I just say I have watched you move like2 and 3 times. I have so much stuff. It’s insane. My stuff makes your stuff look so small. I started going through stuff like 3 months ago. It’s so much stuff but the nice thing is I am buying a house so it will be so fun to move to a new place, new house, new furniture, and new puppy. You have made me so excited about getting a all new everything. Thank you I was so nervous now I think I can do this.
I am glad you are keeping your name. Getting married doesn't mean losing one's identity. As a European, the name chaning thing sounds really odd to me. If you end up choosing to change it, consider the option of both of you getting a Janse-Searcy or Searcy-Janse surname.
Michel, I never comment. I haven’t looked at other comments and maybe everyone will be super kind (I hope they are), but I wanted to show some support with your decision to not change your name at this time. I, too, was divorced and when I got my name back, I felt SOOO unencumbered, like, I could fly! I later got remarried and I went to a hyphenated last name. 😞 I so wish I would have just kept my given name. You do what’s best for Michel. Jordy is so kind to say he could take your name.❤ Take good care of yourself and your *good* man. That’s all that matters! Valerie
My mom didn't change her name when she got married and its never been weird for my sister and I. Actually we both have our mom's last name and I really love it! (Our parents decided they would give girls my moms last name and boys my dads last name which is kinda wild but it worked out having two girls.)
Thats sweet that Jordy is just supportive of your feelings. Another option you could look at is hyphenating your maiden and married name together. That is what my sis in law did
Love the thrift haul! And im obsessed with the flower skirt and white sweater combo, so chic! Edit: the demin dress is stunning!! I cant pick a favourite haha
This is such a random comment but I always put my diamond ring in a cleansing solution when I put my makeup on and hair products. Then I rinse it, dry it, and put it on last thing. Do you have a ring-cleansing solution? I make my own with Windex and a few drops of dawn dishwashing liquid. 💍✨
O-M-G it really sounded like you said you're gonna take Max to the vet to get him 'LAID'... & I was like whhhaaaatt?!?! Wtf?! 😱 So of course I had to go back to listen to it again! Oh boy! 😜 LMAO!!! 😂😅🤣
I will say, only my friends that changed their names have regretted it. I've never had a friend that didn't change it and regretted it. Also, if he's offering to change his...won't tell you what to do, but I would love that.
Ever considered hyphenating your name? I did and so glad I did and my husband was so supportive of it too ❤ No matter what people say (cause they’ll always have opinions 😅) you do you. Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind 😊
I love you Michel love watching you. As my opinions on name change, dont change it. I didnt change my last name no one in our families did. I seriously consider is dumb...I wouldnt do it. It doesnt change anything. Is just more work doing all the change.
whatever you decide to do with the name change thing will be the right move for you. You could always keep Janse as your professional name and use Searcy as your personal name or even do a hyphen type of thing of keep Janse as your middle name and Searcy as your last. Michel Janse Searcy or Janse-Searcy
Thanks for taking us along for the ride Michel! As always, I’m in ! I’m glad you were able to see your friends babies before you move! The next time you see them, they would have grown a lot! What did you think about the botox experience? Better to have tried then not! Happy hump day! ❤️
Michel you never fails to make me entertain with your vlogs and I really really love your style of your vlogs so so much you are my inspiration and I will support you till end😁💗💫
Actually I‘m kinda a little glad and proud that you dont want to change your name immediately just because you were soo happy when you got your name back like you said! But to be honest I personally dont really understand the name change subject - either way should be normalised (changing your name as a woman, that the other part changes it or that nobody changes it) but I dont think it should be expected to change your last name just because you are the woman… I dont know why but that never seemed right to me. Of course if you wanna do it, do it! Thats totally fine!! But women shouldnt feel like they HAVE to change their name, everyone should do what feels right to them. Same goes for giving your children your last name or the name from your partner (if they are different). I personally think its kinda cool if children have the last name from their mother, so maybe if I have kids one day I would give them mine, I‘m not sure yet but thats totally an option for me… I mean I would also be the one giving birth, why shouldnt it have my name? 😂
I hyphenated so I could keep both. I did not change my name on my first marriage...second go round I went with both! Do what makes you feel comfortable, and the right person will support that.
You always make me feel so determined and motivated, which is funny because it's 8pm here, when I'm actually relaxing from my day. But I'm here in spirit for your motivation!
super smart to do that and change your name when you have kids, I think I will do the same thing :) and like you, I reserve the right to change my mind ;)
I would recommend looking for a DO who does osteopathic manipulative treatment instead of a chiropractor. They are physicians who can perform manipulation as well but are fully knowledgeable on how it will affect any other medical problems.
She doesn’t need Botox, just like no 20-something needs it, or 30-something. People start early to prevent any wrinkles. Also it take a few days for it to kick in, not a few weeks.
I knew you’d keep your name for now. It was such a hassle changing everything and I don’t know about the USA but here passports are expensive if you want to change them might as well sit with Janse to until you have kiddos then at least any name change costs will come down the line too. Jordy is so sweet of he took your name people might start calling him JJ though lol 😂 oh interested to hear how the Botox takes and also hope your back is a quick fix we only have one of them girl 😉xx
Girrrlll your mic keeps rattling 🙈🙈🙈 it has been in the past few videos too 😬 just wanted to let you know in case you hadn't realized. Right around this time specifically 15:47 , 15:54 , and 16:50
I feel like the name change is not as strict these days, and i like your relaxed approach. I have a relative who when she got married, her and her husband picked a new surname together! Which i love the idea of ❤ p.s that's not a cultural or traditional choice, they just wanted to do it that way, and make a fresh new family name
I love that you still say Hi friends. Been here since almost the very beginning and it just makes me happy. I saw someone else comment this and I love the idea that you could be Michel Janse Searcy. I know when you first changed your name you accidentally dropped Michel all together so it’s obviously a complicated process.
That blue dress is gorgeous on you. I love how you kinda dresses it down with the white tshirt! I think that it makes a lot of sense that you want to keep Janse for now. We know how much it means to you. Especially since you have just gotten it back officially.❤
So interesting about the name change! In Canada (everywhere aside from Quebec) when you get married, the standard is to *assume* the persons last name, not legally change it. So it’s almost like an alias. Is it the same in the US? My husband actually changed his last name to his mom’s maiden name (she still uses it) and I then assumed that last name. I love it :).
No, we actually legally change ours in the US (if you decide to do so, of course!) drivers license, social security card, everything gets changed over!
Been married 9 years didn’t change my name legally. I did do it on our marriage certificate so I would have the option after kids…so I wouldn’t pay the higher price if I decided to do it after. It’s technically not legal until I change it with SSN. Our son is almost 3 still haven’t done it though. 😆 I have real estate, notary, etc licenses and it feels like such a drag. Plus just haven’t felt like I want to yet. 🤷🏻♀️
Pls be careful with Botox…not only have people with auto immune issues experienced issues but you are stunning and only 20 something. The beauty industry sucks you in when you’re young with so many promises! New “Budget Michel” may want to rethink it in the future because it’s quite an investment for a “temporary” thing so you have to keep spending and you have so many upcoming monetary obligations as a couple… I developed a want verses need mentality and it made me much happier …plus I have never once had financial arguments in my marriage. You do you …but once you start you could easily be convinced you “need” it.
I don't get it either. We should normalize aging but she's still super young anyway. 🤦🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️ not to mention you're injecting your body with a foreign substance.
Botulin is a toxin which paralyzes the muscles . It is a NO No if you have an autoimmune condition. I am glad my doctor was honest and did not treat me . I am much older and I wanted to try . @@angelrebekah9153

I know how hard your divorce was on you but you rose above it and turned your life around for the better. They say that the Lord works in mysterious and wonders ways for the good and I believe that He has blessed you and Jordy by bringing you together to share your love with each other. You are an amazing and an inspiration to all of us that have come to love you and follow you through your always wonderful videos. When one of your videos ends I can’t wait for the next one to begin. I want to thank you 🙏 for sharing your life with us. I think of you as a very dear and important friend. I can’t wait to continue on your life journey with you and Jordy. I hope that you will continue to share what you want with me as I know so many others do. You parents and your sister and her husband are such loving and supportive, caring people. You are such a beautiful Soul. I know by the sharing of your life in your videos have helped so many of us and your dedication to your faith has been so inspiring and a blessing. I look forward to seeing you in the next video. And I am looking forward to my invitation to the wedding, or parts of it. I look forward to getting to know Jordy better but I understand that you will only share what you both agree to and that’s the way it should be. I have followed you for years and you have helped me through a very difficult and shattering time in my life journey. My beautiful and amazing Son, Michael passed away when he was only 20 years old and my heart was shattered and my life was turned upside down. There are so many things that I have missed because of my loss but following you has given me hope and joy. I get to live vicariously through you and now with Jordy. So thank you 🙏 for helping me out of the dark place I was in. You have brought some joy and excitement into my life. I want you to know that you have touched so many hearts and lives and helped so many of us to keep our faith and believe that good can come out of bad. Thank you so very much 🙏 I know you must be thinking when is the end of this message going to be. But I wanted to let you know that like me so many of us have come to love and appreciate and support you and now Jordy. I will end here and I hope you will be able to understand what I was trying to say. Take care my dear friend and I look forward to seeing you in the next video. I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your week and like I said I can’t wait for the next video. Your friend Cindy, from a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏

Oh boy! 😜 LMAO!!! 😂😅🤣
I think you should go with Michel Janse Searcy💜
I will say, only my friends that changed their names have regretted it. I've never had a friend that didn't change it and regretted it. Also, if he's offering to change his...won't tell you what to do, but I would love that.
How much milk do you put in the frother? I have the same one.
Good morning Michel happy Thursday morning and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
The name change...it IS a pain to change it! lol (divorced once as well) But, I love having the same last name as my kids and my husband.
As someone who’s waiting on their second baby to come. You absolutely did right on the baby care package!♥️
Yayyyy I’m so glad!! Also congratulations friend🥰🤍
I was legitimately sad when you said I’m going to end the blog here😢😂we love hanging out with you❤
Ever considered hyphenating your name? I did and so glad I did and my husband was so supportive of it too ❤ No matter what people say (cause they’ll always have opinions 😅) you do you. Those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind 😊
Okay but hear me out Jordy Janse sounds so goood maybe you should take him up on the offer!!
Love that idea to make a matcha. I never thought of that. How much milk do you put in there with the matcha packet? I am excited to try that!
I love you Michel love watching you.
As my opinions on name change, dont change it. I didnt change my last name no one in our families did. I seriously consider is dumb...I wouldnt do it. It doesnt change anything. Is just more work doing all the change.
Don't you worries you look pretty gorgeous
whatever you decide to do with the name change thing will be the right move for you. You could always keep Janse as your professional name and use Searcy as your personal name or even do a hyphen type of thing of keep Janse as your middle name and Searcy as your last. Michel Janse Searcy or Janse-Searcy
Honestly in such a big part of the world no one changes their names , so just do whatever feels easier
So so sweet friend!! Thank you for always being apart of this community!!🤍🤍
I kept my last name as well since there's SO many changes and I love my last name!
Love newborns!
Dysport is less expensive & almost immediate results!
I hyphenated so I could keep both. I did not change my name on my first marriage...second go round I went with both! Do what makes you feel comfortable, and the right person will support that.
What is the supergoop product she is using? It’s sooo glowy in the best way!
Also jordy janse would sound cool because of the double j’s
You always make me feel so determined and motivated, which is funny because it's 8pm here, when I'm actually relaxing from my day. But I'm here in spirit for your motivation!
super smart to do that and change your name when you have kids, I think I will do the same thing :) and like you, I reserve the right to change my mind ;)
Do you wash clothes when you get them from thriftin.
Okay this is so random but can you link the photo that was hanging in your storage unit? This is the wall art I've been looking for for months!! 🙌🏻
I’m not familiar with Gen Z terms 😂🤷🏻♀️ so what does “crunchy” mean when you said you felt like a California crunchy mom? 8:06
In Quebec , Canada we are keeping our family name when getting married and it is a lot easier this way
I would recommend looking for a DO who does osteopathic manipulative treatment instead of a chiropractor.
Right around this time specifically 15:47 , 15:54 , and 16:50
That Anthro dress would be great for your honeymoon depending on where you are traveling to.
I feel like the name change is not as strict these days, and i like your relaxed approach. I have a relative who when she got married, her and her husband picked a new surname together! Which i love the idea of ❤ p.s that's not a cultural or traditional choice, they just wanted to do it that way, and make a fresh new family name
Michel Janse-Searcy ❤
I love that you still say Hi friends. Been here since almost the very beginning and it just makes me happy. I saw someone else comment this and I love the idea that you could be Michel Janse Searcy. I know when you first changed your name you accidentally dropped Michel all together so it’s obviously a complicated process.
That blue dress is gorgeous on you. I love how you kinda dresses it down with the white tshirt!
I think that it makes a lot of sense that you want to keep Janse for now. We know how much it means to you. Especially since you have just gotten it back officially.❤
Awee thank you for being here Tahlia!!🤍🤍 this is all so sweet thank you for your comment!! 🫶🏼🤍
Would you ever consider getting a Sercy tattoo? Maybe matching tattoo with Jordy?
Pls be careful with Botox…not only have people with auto immune issues experienced issues but you are stunning and only 20 something. The beauty industry sucks you in when you’re young with so many promises!
New “Budget Michel” may want to rethink it in the future because it’s quite an investment for a “temporary” thing so you have to keep spending and you have so many upcoming monetary obligations as a couple…
I developed a want verses need mentality and it made me much happier …plus I have never once had financial arguments in my marriage. You do you …but once you start you could easily be convinced you “need” it.
In France, many women just add their husband's name to theirs. This way, you are both : daughter of Janse, wife of Searcy. (The tunic is so breezy!)
I love your style.
Thank you Jackson!! 🥰🤍
Michel! I am from Colombia and guess what! In South America we get to keep our Last name and that feels amazing! We love you not your Last name!!!
Curious why you stopped wearing your oura ring? Do you still like it?
I think she wore it during her last vlog if I remember correctly. Maybe wasn't convenient to wear it while disassembling the studio.
I loved your decisions . Always do whatever is the best for you ! :) always ! I loved the vlog 😊
Excited to hear about your experience with Botox!
I am not judging, but confused as to why you would want Botox when your skin is flawless.
So true- she will not see any change because her skin is flawless
Especially at her age. I’m 56 and have never gotten Botox. She’s 26. So young.
Michel, I just wanted to say that I love how happy you and Jordy are together. The love you have for each other is so precious and apparent.
Thank you so very much 🙏
I know you must be thinking when is the end of this message going to be.
Your friend Cindy, from a small town in Northern Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🙏
Dear Cindy sorry for your loss and 🙏 for comfort and strength
❤❤❤
I’ll be honest in saying I don’t get not changing the name but that’s just because for me personally I find it really romantic. That’s just me though!
You have such a smooth forehead I would have thought you already had Botox 😬 😂 Fun to try though!
I was a crunchy California mama. 😂 now, I'm a retired Montessori teacher. I highly recommend Montessori when you're ready to make that decision. Tell your new mama friends too. There's nothing better than the smell of newborn babies. 👶
Oh, Botox? You're braver than me!
Lol I got married this year and he offered to change his name too... what is up with that.... sounds so wrong to me.
You are smart! Name changes suck. Keep it Simple!
Hey friend 🤗 love your channel 💕
Awwe thank you so much friend!!🥰🤍
I would never get Botox. It’s not good for you. You look great you don’t need Botox
The Anthropologie dress is so pretty!
Color analysis - have you/would you consider getting your colors professionally done? I would be so interested to see what season you fall into. 😊
I've definitely had the realizations that I need to change out of my dress before my chiropractic appointments 😂
The threadUP stuff…. Wow!!! All of the pieces are so spectacular and that navy blue dress was made just for you! How exciting to meet your friend’s new baby! Great job getting everything done and facing your confrontation issue. Always anxiety producing but… until you do it, anxiety continues until you do what you need to do. So… the sooner you can deal with it, the better. I always have to work things out in my head first so I’m as prepared as I can be. The name you take is your own business but i think you plan is a good one! 😊
You should do some thread up for your December Pairs Vacation. Also Amazon has some great stuff
You’re such a sweet treasure and a blessing, so beautiful where God has placed you in sharing His love 🍂 I’m so encouraged by your step of faith in persevering in this kind of platform through humility, love, grace and authenticity 🍁🥹
Maria🥹🥹you’re so sweet thank you friend!!🤍
I’m not sure that’s generational, it might just be the way some people are raised! I live in a small blue-collar town and have made freezer meals for all my friends with new babies 🥰
Yeah
