Great video and awesome radio. I really like the design on this one.
I'm currently restoring a Party-Boy and there seem to be quite a bit of similarities. The audio section seems to be nearly identical, so I was pleasantly surprised when I recognized the circuit you explained.
And I felt your pain when the dial cord snapped.

Hi from India, and Mr. Mechanic you did it! I'm impressed, and a huge fan of radios.

Wow Darren that was a real slog. Having to do the dialcord as well. What a pain. Pretty much everything you didn’t want to touch you had too. Seems to be the norm with these old Grundigs now. Great work and they are lovely sets once done. Well worth the effort

Thanks Graham. I must admit the amount of work required seems to be far more than you think when starting theses projects. I think we forget how old these are getting. I may see about building a mains supply for it.

Thank you so much for this video! I can't find words to tell you, how much it helped me by restoring my Concert Boy N210.
Just one more thing to do at my Radio: to change the Scala-Bulbe. But this won't be a big deal at all!
    Greets from Germany!

Very nice set. I do have a few grunnys that I have yet to play with on the shelf. Good to see the innards of them before having to take your own apart.

Yes I'm sure your have fun with yours I remember you have aquired a few. I must admit not looking at any videos before starting a lot of projects so it's more of a challenging but the down side it might take a lot longer!

Hi Darren, very interesting audio circuit on that radio, plus negative feedback!! Wow, almost HiFi! If I had the transistors in the output stage I think I might build one just to hear it and do some measurements, just for fun.

Sounds a fun project, Michael. Yes I was surprised how the output stage is like a music centre at the time. I guess the concert boys all have a big output and hence the mains supply.

Thank you for creating this video. I just bought a Grundig Transistor 1005, which is a US cousin of your radio and I think electronically identical. It needs some minor attention but works reasonably well. It's getting increasingly difficult to find these radios in a condition where nobody has been inside tinkering with them previously.

Hi Darren, i have a small question.... How do you open the back (up) of the transistor ?
I remove the two screw but impossible to open. I think it's the antenna but not shure. I don't want to force and breack the panel. (Sorry for my english)

    • @darrencoe5795
      @darrencoe5795  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes, you have to remove the screw holding the aerial. The top rear panel then lifts up as in the video at 1:47. then further screws on PCB and plastic part holding knobs. Also the knobs have to come off to remove PCB.

    Buenos días
Yo tengo una igual y tiene una recepción en FM perfecta con gran calidad de sonido pero el resto de ondas no recibe nada, sabe que fallo puede ser? Gracias un saludo

It is good that the FM is working as that proves the IF and Audio stages are working as they are shared with the AM stages. The most likely fault is dirty switch contacts but failing that it is the AM mixer and RF stages (Transistors 3 & 4) and possibly the detection diode for AM would be my first guess. Also any broken or corroded coils in that stage. Daz
