NEW Porsche Macan S 2022 UK review: should you wait for the electric SUV?

  • The Macan S is one of the best driver-focused SUVs on the market, but it'll soon be switching over to electric power. Here's why choosing between the two might not be so straight forward...
To set the scene: Porsche is planning to launch an all-electric version of the Macan - it's best-selling car - within the next couple of years. Though the petrol-powered model will still be sold, it's unlikely the Macan EV will carry a huge premium to help tempt new buyers. So we decided to look at the last piston-powered Macan to see whether you should head out to your local Porsche dealer now and pick one up, or wait until the EV comes along.

Air suspension doesn’t change the ride quality at all in the S model bc of PASM. If you are familiar with Porsche you understand why the Macan S model (out of the Macan line up & for many reasons) is the ticket for the ‘22 model year

The relatively small size is what makes the Macan so agile and sporty. If it gets bigger and heavier as an EV it will lose that characteristic.

@@Cobnapint yeah i hope so, i don't think you will be getting it, its a whole new dashboard mold and screen size, im guessing they are adding it to the next complete facelifted macans, which will be the electric macan, or maybe there is another mid cycle refresh with the electric macan for the ICE? I wish they would add a hybrid. Something where at low speeds it uses electric motors but at higher speeds or acceleration anything it switches to the engine which then also recharges the motor.

The EV motor will still be a decent lump under the bonnet and where do you think the batteries are going to sit? This could compromise interior space still further like it does in many cars now.
