The set tours especially are so rewarding because it’s making me appreciate even more all the intricacies of the sets and the costumes. This show is honestly a work of art❤
I´ve found the diversity of this show so refreshing and joyful to watch. At first, when I saw the trailer, I was suprised to see people of colour playing characters in high position, simply cause of historical knowledge that at this time and place this was unimaginable. BUT I was very intruiged by it and watched the whole series in one night (lol). What I have discovered was, that although I first was a little confused by the diversity (again, because of history), you forget it as soon you feel that the characters don´t even mention it - it is simply normal in their reality and mindset. Nobody talks about the "Queen of colour" or the Duke, nor questions their position or person. As a cultural anthropologist I am very intruiged by this, it shows how humans create their social standards and society decides what gets to be normal, accepted or not. It is completely up to humans, to set our rules and mindset. To choose diversity over historical structures shows, how quickly one can adapt and what is possible for our society in the future. I applaud not only for the great setting of the series, but the idea and courage to try something, that has never taken place before, yet letting it appear as it was never any other way. Showing a reality, where skin colour doesn´t matter, even in a historical british high society, is something entirely new to this world.
I mean, it's hardly new. New for the general public perhaps, but not as a piece of work. Bridgerton dances around the fine line of Historical Fiction and Historical Fantasy as its genre, the latter of which most people seem to not realize exist or think it's more fantasy than history, which is decidedly untrue.
Queen Charlotte was indeed descended from African lineage, and it was refreshing that they showed how a culture changed in order to become a much more diverse, democratic society. Love the way in which Bridgerton presents the factual history in such a beautiful way!
Unpopular Opinion: Beloved as Simon and Daphne are, I much rather anticipate Anthony's story being centred in Season 2, I absolutely love Eloise and I also am anticipating her and Benedict being centred more, and I honestly am rooting for Penelope, not for any kind of love story, but rather for her to journey towards finding validity in herself. Also I am living for the splendour and majesty and audacity of Queen Charlotte and Lady Danbury.
I didn't think I would like Bridgerton but I find it refreshing, fun and even moving at times. I really like how this show is colourblind and it makes me sad reality isn't.
@@nickyapps I love Eloise's relationship with Benedict. I did read a comment from Claudia in a recent interview, where she says she expects Eloise to be very angry at Penelope when Eloise discovers she is Whistledown.
I do like this one really. I mean Simon is the best main character I've seen for a long time now... He's charismatic and their connection/attraction really seems real. That said, I usually don't like when they don't cast people similar to how they looked like in historic fiction. For 2 main reasons: 1) it misrepresents how society really was. Let's not brush off how badly different people were treated. I wouldn't want to see an openly gay couple in an historic representation of Italy in the 15th century being accepted by society, because people used to be killed for it. Not "only" discriminated but murdered. The same goes for any minorities... The poor ( of any colour) and any minorities had it really really bad. So, if we're making an historic fiction about how people lived, I think it's better to show how they were really dehumanized and try to educate people who think racism is made up. 2) using minorities in historic fiction usually means we're seing another European-aristrocacy based fiction. It means we still don't get writers actually giving a s*** about African, Native American or Asian history. They just lazily switch some white women or men and put a black/asian one and call it a day. In the end we only get people who think that was usual, that minorities always mingled freely without any problems and no one is any wiser about the stories and folklore from the rest of the world. There were kings, queens, empires and wars with people who are considered minorities in the western world. Why not show that?? ( I know this isn't a popular opinion, I would probably not dare to say it personally because I feel people see it as me being racist... But I feel it really just undermines the struggles people had to go trough back then)

Love Jonathan Bailey's portrayal of Anthony in S1! Without him, the S1 would have been flat. He was the overprotective loving brother but also the selfish obsessed lover as Anthony. Although, in real life, both are not good things, he was so believable in his role and was actually chasing Sienna as most men would even do. Contrary to Simon who was rather cold in S1, Anthony will burn for Kate in S2. am sure he will be the great leading man of the season as a lover burning for desire and love towards his true match- Kate. I just hope Kate is casted well. Looking forward to a season filled with Anthony and Kate.
Huh? What is the point of trashing Simon in order to elevate Anthony? Do you even understand the traumatic backstory that shaped the psychology of the Simon that we meet riding into the show? Does any other character share the same level of trauma as Simon? And yet flawed as Simon is, it is Regé’s magnetic portrayal of him that drives the wild global success of Season 1. The data does not lie. If I were you, I would be more concerned about how Anthony and his love story will sustain the audience interest that Regé’s portrayal of Simon did. And Jonathan Bailey does have some really large shoes to fill no matter how electrifying his love interest might be in Season 2. There’s No need to pit one actor against the other.. Plus, we don’t even know what direction the show creators will take the next season. Considering the major changes plus additional non-book characters and plot twists that they featured in Season 1 we have zero clue what new surprises await us in season 2. There are myriad plot lines, changes, twists, and additional characters that will also drive the success or failure of Season 2. We just have to wait patiently and see.
@@ebdesignplaza1849 Many viewers are actually trashing Anthony, so it's always nice to see him getting some love, don't be offendend, people LOVE Simon and Rege) But also, can we support Jonathan a little bit? As you said, there is a lot of pressure after the success of the first season and many people are saying that they only want to see Rege and Simon, otherwise they won't be watching. And there is absolutely no need to compare Jonathan and Rege, they are both very different and both great.
@@annaive3531 you are absolutely correct! We can like both actors and cheer for both in an objective way. I like Regé and think he is a great actor but Simon's character, besides being handsome, the monologues, and those steamy sexe scenes, is not the ideal lover. The music helped in adding some Romance but objectively, I see nothing romantic in a girl actively chasing after a man's love. I dont know about you, but in real life, most men will actively chase after the women they love regardless of how broken they may be. In the book, Kate and Anthony's love story seems to be the favorite of all readers for some reason. And I think Jonathan will make him justice.
@Ana Wintour, Jonathan's a very talented actor. No need to bash Rege/Simon. Simon, Daphne, Benedict and Eloise are my favorite characters, but I am looking forward to Anthony's story in season 2.
@@rrdbrooks3929 haha wow. You are responsible for your own interprétation of my writings. I am Regé's fan and applaud him on all of my comments. I just believe Anthony did a great job as well and his support helped give S1 some spice. The plot of S1 was very predictable and the plot has nothing to do with Regé's talents. Believe me, Regé is a shining star and I scream it loud everywhere. Thanks for your input
I hated penelope so much in the series. But here she is so likeable, adorable, and loveable totally a farcry from her role in the movie it makes me feel bad for hating her that much in the series🤣🤣🤣
I'm still salty the series did dirty to Pen's character. Marina is unnecessary add character. And why they reveal Pen as LW too early... Seems most of people who didn't like Pen in the series, reminds me of what said in Book 4: If someone that pretty and popular claimed herself as LW, she will be praised as brilliant. But if people knew a girl like Pen was the real LW, she would be labeled as a jealous b!tch.
well if you don't like her because of Marina, plz don't. Because she was kind to Marina when she was alone. But Marina started being a b*tch and ignored Pen's advices and i am sorry but she deserved it. No one have to keep her dirty secret. And she insulted Pen for no reason so...
But can someone normalize that everything is so very inclusive now in this show.😱🙌🏽 ofcourse theres nothing bad. But its just interesting to finally include ppl of a different complexion to be in higher power in which we all know that history does NOT really recalls it that way with ppl of a different complexion.
It’s inclusive but not in a Brandy Cinderella way. In fact, Simon’s father mentions the equal treatment of POC in this universe as because the King fell in love with a woman of color. The choice to mirror reality, yet erase all issues that we still see arise in race conversations today, is kind of tone-deaf and is a sanitized fairy-tale plot point that isn’t actually treated as such. I’m glad the show got it slightly wrong though, because I’ve heard how this plot point opened up new discussions on how casting works as a storytelling device! It’s hopefully going to keep getting refined and get better as we all learn and time goes on.
@@Ebathora I get and agree with your point that this rendition being slightly wrong, tone-deaf and sanitized fairytale. However, this Regency-woke version of storytelling remains within the boundaries of bodice-ripper romance fiction. That tension is inherent in the genre, not necessarily the reimagining of it. Just as fairytales have their problematic stock characters and familiar narrative arcs, Bridgerton also remains within the boundaries of the genre as it pushes them open. Four years ago I had the opportunity to attend a performance of Der Rosenkavalier staged by Tokyo Opera with a cast of international singers. It was the first time I had the experience of seeing the opera with a bi-racial black lead soprano together with European, Korean, Japanese and Chinese artists instead of the traditional all white cast. Of course, there was none of the to-do about it that has attached itself to Bridgerton. However, casting top-tier performers in this way brought the original music to life in an extra-ordinary way. As I watched, I remember thinking that opera needs to break wide open in this way. My point is that the more audiences become conditioned to seeing dramas cast according to the best artist for the role rather than traditional casting, the more this welcome departure from tradition becomes expected and normalized. It's time.
Perhaps they’re saving him for later BTS. Or they are strategically withholding BTS content featuring him in order to keep us audiences pining for more and returning over and over again to their sites in search of content on him. However I think they’re featuring Jonathan Bailey (Anthony) here cuz he’s the next focus of Season 2, and they need to build up audience love for him now. I personally didn’t warm up to him in Season 1. I felt the same about Penelope. The show has lotsa work to do to build super audience love for other characters beyond Simon & Daphne. .
@@ebdesignplaza1849 me thinks the hype is already dying down . If that's their strategy, well it's a stupid one!! No one has time to constantly check in each day to see little glimpses of Regé. We have lives !! Perhaps there is not much BTS on him as they did not bank on him being the star of the show. After all the series is really about the Bridgerton siblings and didn't that director (Mrs Robinson) say she did not view Regé as a sex symbol and drool worthy
@@jazzjo456 Interesting points you make JV. Did you mean the hype of Jonathan or Regé? If it’s Regé you mean, well the reality has surpassed the hype. It’s fascinating what a global audience does to change the perception of an actor. Regé has labored hard for 5 years on American Television without garnering the acclaim he richly deserved. His performance on both Roots and For The People were a marvel in Method Acting. His fate on Mortal Engines was sadly eclipsed by the thrashing critics poured on Peter Jackson. So in a way, Bridgerton gave Regé a new prism through which his acting prowess could be seen without distortion. And voila! The series creators and crew were already Regé colleagues from Shondaland, and so already knew his mettle. But they too were recovering from the ABC cancelation of For the People, and probably were apprehensive about how this new gig with Netflix would go. It is likely why they spread the spotlight on the British cast on their home turf, in order to ensure an insta-fan base plus the already existing Julia Quinn book fanbase. I read that Jonathan Bailey originally auditioned for the role of the Duke, before being asked to try out Anthony’s role. Anyway, Regé broke the mold globally and now they’re all scrambling to come to terms with his superstardom. These BTS promo reels were created at the same time of shooting the series, so the crew had no way of knowing how the show would affected audiences now a year later.
@@ebdesignplaza1849 I don't think this particular video is featuring Jonathan because he will be a focus in season 2, this video is an old one and they wasn't even sure if there'll be a second season. He is showing the set probably because he is very fun and enthusiastic about the series, same with Nicola Coughlan. No conspiracy here😅
Perhaps someone already pointed it out, but Lady Danbury does have children despite what the actress who plays her is saying at 5:45. They are mentioned in the fourth(?) book.
I love Eloise but I don’t really get why she’s always so angry at Daphne, I get that she’s kind of the personification of the ton and everything Eloise hates about society but she’s also still her sister and I feel like personally she hasn’t done anything wrong towards Eloise? Someone explain pls
She hasn’t done anything wrong towards Eloise, but Eloise doesn’t want to marry and during that time in society, marriage for women was important because that’s all a women was fit for at the time. That’s why Eloise is annoyed because she refuses to marry, she wants to be given other opportunities and equal rights that men have as well as women. Thus, she is compared to her sister because she is ‘perfect woman’ during that time as she married a duke therefore she is the next daughter in line to marry but she doesn’t want to, which explains why she is slightly annoyed at her. But at the end of the series, she says to daphne ‘thank you for being perfect so I don’t not have to be.’ So I don’t think she is mad at her sisters, more at society because of what they expect of her.
I don’t feel like she is angry at Daphne. She loves Daphne to death (which is evident when she wants to stay with her when Lord Berbrooke calls on her). I feel the only thing Eloise is angry at is the inevitable future and life that awaits her. She has no say whatsoever and will never be able to follow her own dreams. She is merely angry at the situation she is subjected to which I feel is an accurate representation of how many women would have felt in that day and age. She would’ve most definitely been a suffragette had she have been born a decade later.
Eloise does want lots of different things, but she is young and immature, also don't know how to express herself yet. And the fact that Daphne wants different conflicts her. She has her time to improve, don't worry.
Eloise wasn't mad at Daphne, she simply cannot understand her. Eloise feels like her sister can be something more than a woman who seeks a husband and it kinda baffles her that Daphne is willingly diving into the married life, or the caged life as she saw it, but in terms of being angry at her, she wasn't. It just happens that they both have different perspectives which usually happens with siblings.

Bridgerton is so damn good! Best show to come out of 2020 and I simply can’t wait for more! They must make haste for season 2 and ENews, you must make haste to share more BTS content 🐝😋
So true can wait for the new season
Hihiii. I love this "must make haste" reference to the show :) Who can forget Eloise shouting.
Lady Danbury is gorgeous..just love her..and Queen Charlotte.
Bailey's transition from season 1 to season 2 😲
This show is so good ngl 😪

I absolutely love this show!!
20000 black people were in d Regency times in england. We were in the period, we just were not in the drama... love #ladydanbury
I was binge watching "Bridgerton" and devoured season one in one evening rest assured I was in bed by 4:00 a.m.
Omg same! Hahaha
Sigh. I would have loved to have a press conference where all of them were dressed up as their characters!! 😍
I just hate this pandemic. Hate it.
So Penelope called herself an overripe citrus fruit 🥺
Jonny's tour commentary is just so funny
cant wait for anthony season 2!!! JB's great!!!
I loved this show! Such beautiful sets & beautiful people. 👍😊😍👏 Looking forward to the next series.
I love and respect all who are involved in this series,,,,thank you very much i am well entertained
I love Jonathan Bailey for his vigor and fun🎉
8 episodes per season is not enough but i bet the production costs are insane
So thorough and love all the behind the scenes by the cast. Please keep doing more reporting like this 😊 I love this show sooo much!💓
I hated penelope so much in the series.
Well, that's on you. Pen is one of the most amazing, sweet and adorable characters.
well if you don't like her because of Marina, plz don't. Because she was kind to Marina when she was alone. But Marina started being a b*tch and ignored Pen's advices and i am sorry but she deserved it. No one have to keep her dirty secret. And she insulted Pen for no reason so...
Actually it’s marina’s fault though.
yess i also noticed that it has a gossip girl vibee
It's time.
History is inclusive... now the way it’s told is not, depending on the source
@@Jujucsc not everything lol.
@@Jujucsc i felt i was traveling in a time where it never excited. IN HISTORY. Lol.
I love how they say "Bridgerton"
Can we get more of Regé!! I swear we just get to see little glimpses in every video. Never enough sigh.......
I thought Regé had more interviews than the rest of the cast. He is the most popular after all.
No conspiracy here😅
The most beautiful thing in 2020 indeeed! Love all of them
Perhaps someone already pointed it out, but Lady Danbury does have children despite what the actress who plays her is saying at 5:45. They are mentioned in the fourth(?) book.
True. She has 4 children but she loves his nephew more 🤣
Loveee the Queen love Penelope !! Ugh love this show
I loved the scene where said he would show her more, and Daphne said, more?
Sorry that was long hope that made sense 😅
Eloise: I'm the rebellious one.
Adult Hyacinth : ya really think so.
Duke of Hastings is sooooooo handsome.
Show and set just gorgeous
Actually Lady Danbury does have children. Her grandson marries Hyacinth in book 7.

Lady Whistledown is Julie Andrews??? I remember seeing her name on the opening credits but completely forgot until now. The narrator voice is completely different than her usual. I just knew it was an older black woman. I have too many former teachers, coworkers, and relatives that sound like her to have ever thought it would be her. Wow! She did a fantastic job!
