@@Manley156have you owned one of these man? The mids, highs, gain and presence all change together in a weird way. And sort of mislabeled. You can get 60 sounds from these amps, but 55 are unusable. On top of that, they want over $3500 for this headache.
This is the only video of this amp that matters, the only one that convinced me I should purchase it. Mesa could've just gotten Ola to demonstrate it, haha. Great job! The Swedish Chug maestro never disappoints!
Gibson is too full of themselves thinking that Dinesh should only be the only one demonstrating this amp. It wasn't until the backlash that they reached out to the proper people to demo it and re-shoot their own channel's content. I loved the video Dinesh did with Doug West. Guess they realized all of us wouldn't jump to buy it based upon the launch content from them.

I like these so much more than the rectifiers idk why it feels wrong being such a metalcore guy but the mark series just has so much more clarity and the same punch with only a tiny less low end.

@@TheCyberMantis Maybe. The jp2c doesn't have switchable pull deep. So the midrange f*"kery they set up in it has to be modified in some ways for people to feel it has the same tonal character. Jp2c and 1984 iic+ circuit are not the same.
Yeah they probably wouldn't have had to do that had they made the pull deep switchable, like I inferred. Tell me what preamp tube compliment is in the original vs what is stock in the jp2c.
Ola can calm down tons of argues on forums with just one tight chug. I wish it worked like that with everything bad on the planet. As always, a great video, detailed explanations, and it is worth noting the classy, stylish room, it fits the amplifier itself. And it also with matching color.
I've not owned a MK amp, but I have the Studio pre amp, and I have to say I was blown away by the manual they give with these amps and also what the amp can do for an '89 model! They even simplify the explanation for dummies like me and tell you to just use the treble knob as a gain knob 👍 Also, Merry Christmas Ola!
This is the first time where I copied amp settings and had my amp sound exactly the same. I’m using a JB-equipped ESP into my IIc+ Reissue with a Mesa Standard 4x12. Thanks for making these videos, Ola.
It took me 5 years and a older brother to teach me how to use this amp. He gave me this amp in 1998. I'm going to college gift/ nightmare for my dorm gift. I never could dial this amp in. Until 6 years later, he flew out to my house and saw the amp was out, plugged it in my cab, (I had a Uberschall I was running at the time) and i can hear him jamming in the house. I recognized that tone from years ago from him playing at home and when he played live. I wrote down the EQ settings and never touched them again. I kept the Uberschall blue but never really used it. What a great amp.
@trevorhirst5096 it's looking like terrible all the way, mids about noon, bass nearly to 0. Gain all the way, the Master turned a 3rd of the way. I use a boss T.A.E. the graphic eq is pretty much in a V with the two terrible nearly parallel. I don't think I bumbed anything, putting a side for my Framus cobra. I have an 8x4 amp selector, but sometimes I have employees that move around gear as well. Hopefully, they didn't change anything. Lol. I don't know where my notes are at the moment.
Man, I never thought they'd ever actually reissue the mk 2c+! FINALLY! Probably the first amp I actually dreamed of owning, ever since I heard the justice album all those years ago :D
Thanks for the explanation on how to dial the tone. I own an old Mesa 50 Caliber + since the 90s. Always had a hard time dialling in a proper tone. Your explanation will help a lot since the Mark II and 50 Cal seem to be configured the same way. Happy Christmas!
Have had my single rect for almost 20 years now. Still can remember the first time i hit a power chord on that thing. Mesa user for life here. Now with all the mark iic buzz i bought the vst and am on an absolute tone journey and loving every bit of it.
FINALLY! An actual good high gain demo. Now I don't have to rely on Mesa's half ass attempts at playing the heavy music to see what this amp can really do.

Best demo done on this amp. All the other demos are pretty bad at getting the tone we all want to hear. I was disappointed with the sound of the amp until now. Wow, you dialed things exactly how I would.
This is the real thing. That intro is the best you’ve ever sounded. I don’t care how much people use sims, they are not the same. And as much as people want to chug with it, it’s really lead where it is unbeatable. That’s what it was made for. The only question now is IIC+, Mark VII, or JP-2C? I know you have all three. An in-depth comparison would be really helpful for people who are trying to decide.
Who said anything about amp sims? Also, why does it have to be a competition? Amp sims are fantastic and many people prefer them, so maybe stop with the gatekeeping and just enjoy what you like best.
Such minor difference that can get EQ'd out pretty easily whether an actual EQ, boosting, etc. I'd go with the JP-2C if for no other reason than the separate EQs. I don't mean to diminish either the Mark 7 or reissue, you could make ANY of them work I'm sure.
You're hardwood version is just like mine. It has a savage 3D gain and thump compared to what I been hearing in the videos of the reissue. Kudos on your Solar Brand too. On the reissue I think they are going off the schematics online but there are differences in the old MKIIC+ especially in the first resistors. Same with the MarkV attempts. Nothing but midz. These new MKIIC+ reiisues reminds me of the mKIII blue stripes. Sold those because they just weren't 'it". Hope you do a comparison video. Really interested on your thoughts because Im sure you know the bouncy feel of the OG and you set the amps just like I do. Hope U have a Great New Year and same for all the other Guitar Lovers out there.
The problem with quick comparisons is that they're just a snapshot. All of those amps can be dialed in to sound extremely close to each other, as seen in his other comparison between the OG 2C+, JP2C and VII. That doesn't mean they're not completely different amps for different people or have different features that the others can't emulate.
@ oh I’m just teasing. I’ve just seen so many posts on the various groups that the folks to have the originals feel that the new version will lower the value of the originals. I personally don’t think it will, but I am glad they did a full re-issue.

@@texastumbleweed4165 The originals should never be priced over 1800 or so, because by the time an amp is that old , you're talking about needing to know about every component in that amp. Including how much it's been used. Never buy a used mesa until you've seen inside the chassis , and you know the age of the amp and the resistors and capacitors that are in it.
I have a theory that you can basically make a Mark sound more like a 5150 if you dial down the treble knob slightly and use more of that mid knob, and get a more rectifier sound if you crank that bass knob on top of it and use the deep too :D
They can do 5150. The only thing mark can't do is the specific wooly midrange thing like slo, unless you add a tube screamer to the mix. I had my iicp dialed in that way a few times, used to also slave it to a mark iii no stripe. Most of the iic+ nuts from the 80's would put them through the squishy speakers , softens the ceramic midrange kinda sounds like that overdriven 5150 sound.

Something you may try for a comparison: if you have a stereo cabinet, put the reissue on the left and the OG on the right (or vice versa) and switch between with an A/B switch. May save some time on remixing and splicing videos
Making me miss my mark III simulclass… these mark amps are really special. To be able to get tight modern tones with no overdrive boost (pedal) in front of the amp is basically unheard of with any other amp.
@@snapascrew That's one of the top reasons I loved the Mark series heads. But when it comes to the older one's sometimes you an OD up front to get it 'just right' because the old one's don't all chug exactly the same. At least in my experience.
It will still sound more modern with an OD in front, and there are other amps that are tighter and more modern sounding than this, tbh. Also, you can replicate this style of EQing just by using an EQ pedal in front on other amps.

The tolerances on most parts in it are going to be +/-10%, including the pots. So there can actually be quite a bit of variance unit to unit
