Yeah hopefully he will find out that libertarianism doesn't want the government to solve problems because makes things worse, so citing one of the most statist cities in Commiefornia is definitely not a good way to criticize Libertarianism which predicates the opposite. Kirk is either ignorant or hypocritical.
It's disingenuous for people like Charlie Kirk, Ben Shapiro, and Stephen Crowder to debate college students who don't know the talking points. I would love for Charlie to use that same exact argument against someone educated. It falls apart so fast. Like for example, drugs are decriminalized, not legal. That means it's safer for drug users to seek medical attention as there's little to no fear of prosecution. In the year 2024 for SF, overdose deaths have decreased by 20%. In a country facing a massive fentanyl crisis, SF fentanyl deaths have decreased by 32%. The issue isn't drug legality but access to resources like housing, jobs, and real drug rehabilitation.
Charlie Kirk is wrong on this. Now ofcourse you shouldn't be handing out black market fentanyl, its deadly poison. But we have been taking safe versions of the same drug for centuries and never had cities like Portland. The fentanyl epidemic is government caused by not allowing legal opiates. Portland Oregon's issues aren't with legal drugs, its with legal homelessness, stealing and squatting and just exaggerated by access to only the hardest of drugs. Instead of having less powerful ones available. It's pretty much just a city ran by woke morons that has destroyed most of the west coast.

@christinewhite6879 California's Prop 47 did not technically all decriminalize drugs, leaving possession as a misdemeanor. But the police do not stop or otherwise intervene with drug users, even as they use in public view, and prosecutors rarely file charges for drug possession or use - NY times investigation on this. So technically they're not all drugs are legal but Charlie is right about being able to freely use it.
The problem isn't the drugs, the problem in San Francisco is that Americans are not allowed to defend themselves from the rug users and the illegals that bring in their drugs. If everyone was allowed self-defense, there would be a bit of a mess at first, but Darwinism would fix the drug issue in less than four years. Those people statistically never become productive members of society. Just pointing that out.
Decriminalizing actually works better. This is just a rare example of how not to handle it... So they are comparing apples and pears and everyone is equally as dumb
Charlie literally equated decriminalisation with the State supplying the drugs. Charlie is the one who needs to be educated, the kid just needs to learn how to better present his argument.
The problem is he isn‘t really educating them. He takes a bad example and thinks it would look the same if the whole country would handle it that way. We have sort of that system in Switzerland, drugs are illegal but if you are a junkie you will get clear heroin and a place for taking it by the state and it works pretty good. If only one state in a country does it, it‘s obvious that it will attract thousands of junkies and there will be more problems in that state than before. He does politics not science, he doesn‘t educate these kids he influences these kids. There are thousands studies on this topic, to take a bad example as the golden Standard isn‘t „educating“

Not all drugs are legal in San Francisco.
Kids are the only ones he can beat in a debate. There is nuance you learn in life. Kids don’t get it. Hyper partisans don’t either.
The problem isn't the drugs, the problem in San Francisco is that Americans are not allowed to defend themselves from the rug users and the illegals that bring in their drugs. You could legalize drugs that's not the problem. I don't think someone could win that argument. The problem is that they are not prosecuting the crime. You commit a crime on drugs you can't use drugs as the excuse. California isn't doing that. You also have to provide people with a strong defense of their right to self-defense.
Peaceful and affordable?
I have been to Amsterdam 5 times and it is the best place I’ve been outside of the uk.
@FatLoisGriffin - I went there over 30 years ago. It may have changed quite a bit since then, or maybe we missed seeing the best places to visit in Amsterdam.
What's wrong with Amsterdam? Although it's quite different when you are mostly white and homogeneous and you don't have to pay for an army to protect you.

His expressions from listening to him and the crowds makes me think he changed his views in that moment. Just guessing

It's not thier fault. The education system and media. Is designed to mislead. People are coming around as you can see in this video. Thanks to this man. Hopefully it's not too late.

No... none of those are decriminalized in europe.
Exactly, only weed is decriminilized on some parts of Europe.
For somebody struggling with addiction, making zero obstacles to obtain them is a death sentence for most. Think in the grand scheme of things
Good riddence
But that's the goal. De population at its finest.
That's the point
IMHO, elites and politicians that support it know the end results and are okay with it. They make money on the misery of others, and there will always be more lost souls buying into the idea of a utopia.

The way that this guy is responding to Charlie gives me hope for his future. Seems like he was listening 👍
Libertarianism isn't about destroying society and the rule of law. It's reducing government control (& agencies) and having individual freedoms. Legalizing some drugs is warranted, but not all. Also, legalizing and subsidizing are not the same.
Liberal literally destroy so many states and nations
There is a difference between reducing the size of government control and legalized drugs and there is a fine line that needs to be walked on that, but the war on drugs quite evidently was not the way to go. Possibly decriminalize the use but make selling a capital offense? But first there has to be a field test, like the alcohol breathalyzer, for any mood altering drugs legalized. The roads are dangerous enough as it is.
@cbmech2563 Agreed. But it's a chicken/egg situation. Do the laws lead the technology (drug breathalyzer) or vice-versa? Legalize so it can be taxed. Spend the taxes on research instead of on LE manpower searching for criminals and on legal system expenses to indict & imprison.
State funded drugs and needle is as socialist as it gets
Agreed.
Personally, I make the distinction on which by what I call the "rate of conversion." That is to say, how readily recreational users are converted to addicts.
Same thing in Oregon and I think Seattle
Yuuuuuup
no way they’re legal here in seattle? does it touch yakima at all?
Seattle for sure ! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I'm from Oregon. It completely destroyed our state. They are reversing the law and going back to how it was before.
Props to the kid for admitting that he was unaware of how bad the situation was.
Both cities mentioned were already awful before this policy. There was not even an argument here just blaming on a single policy for some of the worst local governments in history😂
Same in British Columbia, Canada 🇨🇦 😢
There have been examples of European countries ending drug epidemics by legalizing and regulating them. Problem is, in states where they attempt this, the govt is too incompetent to properly regulate the drug use, education and rehabilitation.
They used to pass out new needles right in front of my apartment in Hamilton, Ohio. Neighborhood was terrible.
I lived there back in the 90s.
Thank you Charlie for education these young people.
It looks like you may need a little educating yourself.

I remember several years ago San Francisco was ONE VOTE away from lawfully letting their citizens walk around absolutely naked. The only thought that stopped them from voting this in was visualizing citizens sitting on public transportation seats.
Can you imagine? 😡
And the fact that passing legislation that would allow people to walk around naked is eye sicking and insane. The people of SF grew a pair and stopped it.
Talk about sheltered.
Talk about ignorance!
Your sheltered. Do you have experience with this? Cause I do and I'll tell you nothing about locking up addicts and dealers has helped 1 thing.
@@joshlasky8138Right, it's completely exacerbated the issue into the one it is today, it stems from an economic issue, creating a culture issue, and then THAT radicalizes the opposition to be against the people that indulged in that culture, even though they're the victim of something greater, it's not the drug that's the core issue
Charlie Kirk is doing a wonderful service to humanity. God bless Charlie forever.
Legalize and regulate it would be an interesting concept
That’s called Walgreens. I wonder how much of the problem wasn’t the drugs and mostly the homelessness. Lots of programs exist for temporary homelessness, but not the long term homeless. 2 completely different problems. Some people need help getting back on their feet and some just don’t want to work. I’m sure that the long term homeless flock to anywhere that legalizes drugs and has help programs they can take advantage of.
But, if you want to address a problem then at least offer a solution, right? Use remote federal land to create homeless camps that require the homeless to homestead in order to survive. No handouts, you contribute or you don’t eat.
Decriminalized and giving drugs are two separate subjects.
Thank you, exactly! I like Charlie but he strawmanned libertarianism and it isn't the best look for his argument
Not really as far as the target audience is concerned. The junkies get for free and aren't punished.
We tried it in BC. OD's and crime got so bad in 3 months that they reverted it and now they have a major problem on our hands
Who could have guessed?
@DontSlamCoke shocker, right?
That’s just crazy and they complain about so many people being addicted
America should watch Portugal how they handled drugs.
The problem with prohibition is the cost skyrockets and so do the number of addicts. They gotta find a better way.
It's called decriminalization, it's not given out or endorsed by the government, because the government isn't involved, that's the libertarian argument, and if this were the case, these problems would be MUCH less so
So good, increase in costs serves as a deterrent for the non-addicted young users.. If heroin is legalized & available everywhere (say like weed is now) imagine the chaos/effect it will have in college campuses as peer pressure inability at that age to make informed decision etc.. will to exponential rise in number of addicts.. and hard drugs are different than weed as people can't shake it - heroin is like 3 times more addictive than weed!
@nishantthaccker1173 That's not really how prohibition works. It creates more addicts. The age of the average user goes down. Legalization is not a great idea either with heavy opiates. But if the government is taking care of the legit addicts for free, no one would want to continue selling it anyway. And growing up I was always able to get weed or other prohibited substances but it was damn near impossible to find an adult willing to buy us beer.
To be fair they didn't enforce any laws about being intoxicated in public or a public nuisance.
You notice that part too huh? I have been telling folks the increase in crime is because the police intentionally made the citizens pay for decriminalization by not enforcing the law just enough to make sure citizens feel the pain of their poor bruised ego's.
I love these videos and I found myself in the kids shoes for this vid. Things to think about. Discourse is EVERYTHING
Love they way charlie educates these college students
With misinformation. Drugs are not legal in S.F. They are no longer a felony unless your selling them
He's not lol. He's lying through his teeth for dramatic effect.
Distribution or possession of a controlled substance is still very much illegal.
Being under the influence of the drug is still illegal.
However, being under the influence of the drug is not criminalized. Meaning if a heroin addict walked into a police station and said "I'm an addict I want to get help" they can't be imprisoned.
Charlie Kirk is a grown ass man who argues with kids so he feels smart.
He lies any chance he can.
Do you also love that he’s making this up?
Man only debates students and you praise him for it? He should try debating people over the age of 20 if he wants respect
@ThePseudologist exactly. Grown man arguing with kids so he can feel smart
Libertarians would not provide any paraphernalia or drugs. They don't want government involvement 🤷🏻
Charlie is so graceful ❤
This method was tried in Portugal. But it worked… overdose deaths decreased by 10 fold. The difference is, Portugal set up mass rehabilitation centres and drug users got good quality care if they were caught shooting up/handed themselves in.
But but, but..I DIDN'T KNOW THAT!
I mean Charlie Kirk is lying to a kid so he sounds smart.
Look up the law skipper.
It's still very much illegal lol.
@@DJK9445 So that's why all drugs are available on the streets. In practice its virtually legal.

Charlie Kirk is a lying dirt bag.
I believe he meant to say "That is liberalism at play", not libertarianism.
libertarians don't wants the government giving out free anything, let alone drugs and needles. A libertarian viewpoint is if you want to do drugs that's your choice but you pay for it.
@@aceholesandidiots4274 Charlie Cuck was just being bad faith as usual, He really should be ignored
@@aceholesandidiots4274Exactly, and if people want solutions, the free market will make it, heck the government did a great job just selling masks during Covid!
I usually agree with Charie, but not in this case. The drug policy in SF is NOT libertarianism! Libertarianism would not endorse government taking money (taxes) from some to provide anything to others.
I’m 100% with your. I love what Charlie has to say most of the time and agree with a lot of it. But I consider myself a libertarian and disagree entirely with what he’s saying here. I believe everything should be brought back to the states. that my money should be my money, and that my taxes go to my community
Charlie is just a right wing communist because even if he have nice conservative ideas (what I fully endorse and like him because of that) he can't get free of the idea to use the state to solve problems that were first created by state intervention. Libertarianism (private propriety) vs Communism (state): Choose only one and even if there is fifty shades of communism, for private propriety there is only one color. Cheers!
