You have to buy the Yamaha FL512M or FL1024M expansion flash memory board and install it inside the keyboard in order to load samples and .wav files. My new 512 Mb card was $150.14 from Sweetwater on 4/29/21. UPDATE: After my Yamaha expansion arrived (quickly - thanks, Sweetwater, and thanks for the candy!), I found out that Mutec also makes expansion flash memory boards that are less expensive.
Is there any way to trigger the sample somewhere in the middle? For example on C3 play the sample from the beginning, and on D3 start the sample in the middle? Without editing and saving a second sample...
I loved you book it was very helpful getting started with my new Yamaha MOXF8. Is there a way to put one sample on a range of keys. Or put multiple samples on one Element?
I just figured it out myself , when you load the sample as he show you have to use the knob and go from c3 to all then save , fat as mutiple samples on different keys , I think in performance mode you have to do the same steps and layer them and switch the key note the save
Only if they give all the information we need. I couldn't find anywhere, having searched for several hours, that the expansion card (FL512M or FL1024M) is required in order to load .WAV files into my MOXF8. I think it was about 6 hours into searching and searching that I found a thread in a forum that FINALLY said you need the expansion card. This lack of information SUCKS!!! The keyboard just says, "Illegal File" when I tried to load the .WAV files. What the F does Illegal File mean? Why doesn't it say, "Install expansion card"? Come on, Yamaha.
Hello! How to download the wave forms of the drums are all samples from one wave form? Make of drum kit ? To the oscillator was a single drum, not a not alone multisample - how to do? Show about this video!
Is it possible to load in multiple drum shots for a whole kit for example and use the arpeggiator to play the rhythms in the mofx6 and not deleting more than one user sound ?
From the tiny hints of information I can find, you need the Motif Editor software on a computer in order to edit, or upgrade your synth to a Motif XF to be able to make modifications within the keyboard. I don't know about the newer Motif units, such as the MODX, I'm stuck with my MOXF8 for today 4/30/21
Yes, you can take a clip in Ableton, or free sound effects, or any .WAV file - just be sure to download it as a .WAV file. I made a folder for my MOXF FILES, and put them on a flash drive. Load it into your Yamaha as he shows, and assign each sound to a key on the keyboard. It's a lengthy process.... but worth it. I put farm animal sounds on my MOXF8, then bought a MIDI foot pedal unit, which automatically maps to 17 of the lower bass keys. I play bass, and trigger the sounds for my new country band. It's funny as hell to play donkeys, roosters, and horses during a show when nobody can tell who's doing it! I bought all this stuff new, with no recording knowledge... It took me 50 hours, and hiring an Ableton guy on Craigslist, to get from figuring out recording into Ableton to finally figure out the entire process. Just make sure you've expanded your MOXF with a flash board first.
Hello guys, l did a firmware update on my Motif XF8 and after it was done, l lost all my master, performance and User modes, l only have the voices, all are empty, when I power it on now it brings this message ' Initiallize Master, please please can anyone help me?
You need either the FL512M (512 Megabytes) or FL1024M (1024 Megabytes) to store samples or .wav files. I paid $150.14 on 4/29/21 for the 512 Mb unit new from Sweetwater
Jim Pittman you can make your own files in fl studio.. save it as wav, put it on any thumb-drive, plug it in the follow his step.. you can legit do that with any instrument on do studio, logic pro
@kingstumble: Yeah, in this regard, one gets the sense that Yamaha doesn't realize we're in the 21st century AND that not all musicians think like engineers.

Hello! Where can you write to communicate?
Is it possible to say, load drum one shot samples all over the keys in the same preset, similar to the predefined but oh-so-dated kits?
Did you ever learn the answer? I have old MO6 but I'm looking for a workstation that would allow me to load one shot drum sounds...
Am i able to load sounds from a laptop DAW? like Ableton, Logic, or Garageband?

Which website should I use for these downloads?
Hi, How load samples to Yamaha Motif XS6 please help me.
Can this be done without installing flash card?
No, believe me it took many many hours to finally figure that out.
I have massage "illegal file" what to do?
Michał Dzierlatka I know this is extremely late, but the file might be 24 bit. It needs to be 16 bit.

Hopefully you were able to contact Yamaha . . .
So how much memory does Moxf have that I can load samples and create voices ?
You're gonna need to buy the flash chip for a few hundred bucks
