This is a wonderful Workstation Synth. I find it best for music production or for producing backing tracks. Takes a little bit of work to begin with but once you get started it becomes worthwhile.
I hate that !!! Absolutely impossible to record an instrument (voice) on a single (and empty) track, we are always obliged to record on already pre-recorded tracks, songs of patterns !!! Why moxf8 videos never shows recording a single voice on a simple empty track ? I could do that with a 5 pounds Casio keyboard !!! SHIT
1:50 that went too quickly, might forgot to tell that you need to select a 5th channel (like he did at 1:50) to put the sax sound on, because a performance uses 4 channels (4 voices) already. This means that channels (-button) 1,2,3 and 4 get taken automaticly when we use a performance. Just a little attempt to help..
Bert does a terrific job of demonstrating the MOX and all Yamaha synths. I could buy one after just watching his videos and not even having tried the instrument. His demos are inspirational and exciting!

It's kind of backwards. Record function only seems to work in Performance mode. They want you to play/record the song first, then you can use Song mode to add drums, bass, lead, etc. I'd prefer to start with say, a drum beat and jam from there. If there is a way to do this I'd sure like to know. The instruction manual does not give enough examples.
@ThePukkadj Really? I think Yamaha pianos and orchestral sounds are far superior to Korgs. Korg has an edge in the pad department though. The M50, which is the obvious contender to the MOX8 is more solidly built. I like the touch screen and RH3 keybed. Neither one has aftertouch which is a bummer. I played the MOX8 and the keybed was quite nice. In the end I think Yamaha has Korg beat as far as overall sound quality. Just warmer and richer in my opinion. Too bad no one makes a Yamakorg.....
This quick tut makes me want to figure it out and redo the demo - so you can let people know exactly how to connect the chords, to your devices, then record on your apps or hard drives... just saying... nobody has got time for this, if it goes that quickly by. So then you have to Layer up more than one Voice before you can record, and I don't want this! Nothing in the Instruction book either. Yamaha, have we missed something ??

This guy makes it look really easy. Unfortunately, when I hit Record, nothing happens. There are apparently a number of modes that must first be selected before it works. And all of the buttons to set those modes seem to make me lose my current voice settings. :(
Hello Yamaha. I have an MOXF6, and I have a question. How do I add effects after recording? I want to add effects to a piano part I've recorded on track 2, but I can't find any way to do this. Thank you.
Select "Overdub" and just adjust the mixers, don't play any keys. That adds to whatever you've already recorded. Don't select "Replace" as that will erase everything.
I'm with you on that one. I've used a PC1X as my main controller and sound source for years. If I ever sold it it would be to upgrade to a PC3X. Kurzweil and Yamaha are the leaders in realistic sounds hands down. But to my ears Kurzweil still has the edge. You're right. Not as processed.
Great keyboard,I have had to give up performing can no longer carry all the heavy equip,only want to play piano maybe bit of organ or EP.No wonder most choose guitar

LCD screen on MOXF is too bright, and there is not the adjustment menu for the brightness. I regret hving bought this MOXF8. Simple. Isn't it disgusting when products are deceiving with this kindof small details, which consumers take for granted, but very big inconvenience?? The morality of this company is very wrong. Even in this particular video, they put some effect on video so the lcd brightness defect is not shown by youtube viewers.
Yes, indeed. I've done it already. Many people have wrong idea about brightness. I don't understand why people want to hide the information about not having the brightness adjustment for MOXF.
It's the older MOX which was watered down from Motif-XS. About 3 years later MOXF came which was watered down from Motif-XF. You can differentiate them by the red color side panels on the newer MOXF. This one in the video is MOX so it has grey side panels. The MOXF also added a flash expansion slot.
Am I missing something? Is there a "Foot Speed Control Pedal" for the Lesley Sound when I'm in the Organ Mode? Hard to adjust Vol & Lesley at the same time while playing. BTW = It's my 1st Really Good Keybrd and I Love my MO8 :) Thanks

@fourbarposer He talks over almost every moment of the playback but there is not any noticeable difference between the live and recorded performance.
You can adjust the brightness Koreamedia. Just hold utility and press the increment and decrement buttons.

to record a performance in a song , you select first a performance , push the record button, then follow this video from 0:54 to 1:30
You also have to push "Play" to start the actual recording.

Did you record SysEx data also? If not, then 1st instrument, the GrandPaino is used as the program changes have not been recorded.

To delete a song, select Edit, then Job, then option 3 (Clear Song). Then Enter, Enter again, and you're done.
