Doc has an unbelieveable ear. I saw him backstage at a bluegrass festival in Alabama back in the early 70's. Some guy brought over an old Martin D-28 and told Doc that he he'd had a problem with the guitar sounding "numb", even with new strings. Doc played the guitar for maybe 5 minutes and asked the fellow if he'd had the guitar near 'heat'. The guy told him that he normally kept the guitar right beside his bedroom heater at home. Doc told him to store it somewhere else cuz that was the problem
No love button, so I'll settle for like. That guitar's tone is magical. Mister Hernderson, you are simply the man, thanks for bringing this guitar alive.
There's only one Doc Watson - speaking personally, I am grateful for the chance to have heard him performance in person twice in my life. Highlights of my musical life, that's for sure. There are gifted people carrying on his legacy, though. My pick to be the heir of his tradition would be someone like Ricky Skaggs - who is himself a master vocalist, player on multiple instruments in country, old-time mountain music, bluegrass, and related styles. He's also a terrific writer and band-leader and an all-around good man, too. But yeah, I know what you mean - there will never be another Doc Watson. Like the America he came from, he is now a part of the past.
Wayne Henderson is like a little child sitting there watching his hero play I would be doing the same thing I know doc and Wayne Henderson were good friends and doc always hung out at his guitar workshop but truly one of my favorite songs by doc I don't know if he wrote it but I know he sang the hell out of it
I have been privileged to hear Doc twice in concert, and both times were among the musical highlights of my life. Those of you who do not know his music, please check into his 1960s recordings for the old Vanguard folk label. Especially wonderful is "Live on Stage," with his late son Merle. Well, what can be said about this treasure of a man? His taste, time and technique are inpeccable. There ain't too many folks who can yodel well, either!
Wow great to see him in this format. The guitar sounds great. But Doc is playing it. He could make any guitar sound great. Thanks for putting this on here!
Beautiful !!! it's nice to see Doc in a pair of jeans, being a jeans fan myself, playing a different guitar is not always easily done (it just feels weird)but he's a master go Doc go !!!!
This is 'Telling My Troubles To My Old Guitar', from a Chet Atkins single released when Chet was singing, I guess in the '40s or early '50s. Doc is right on it.
the A part is E,G#7,C#7,F#7,B7,E and the B part(the part where he sings "darlin I love you..." is E,E7,A,F#7,B7 and then repeats the A part one time. Of course as most travis pickers like doc do to play in E he capos at the 4th fret and plays in C so the chords go C,E7,A7,D7,and G7 and then C,C7,F,D7,G7 respectively
the book Clapton's Guitar is an amazing book with so many little peripheral stories. check it out if you haven't yet. it brings wayne henderson's shop to life. a great read!
One of the greatest musicians ever period.
💯
The song was written in 1945 by my father Don Weston. Doc did a great job on it. Brings back a lot of memories.
I really love this song, played it once for my 86 year old grandfather on his Martin D-28!
Amazing song!!
Name of this number?
@@Flatpickmastery tellin' my troubles to my old guitar
How lucky Wayne to have Doc Watson in his shop a private concert.
A national treasure.
there's just something so damn magical about doc's playing and singing.

Amazing how Doc and Wayne's artwork can merge and complement each other so perfectly. I'm in awe of both of these craftsmen!
Who could possibly give anything by doc a dislike
Exactly
Maybe they were rappers or just ignorant. Forgive them for their ignorance and listen.
Two legends together RIP Doc
after all these years he's still tight and fantastic with his playing...
The song Tell'in My Troubles to my old Guitar was written by my father Don Weston in 1945. Doc did a great job. Brings back a lot of memorys.
Goosebump material. A master guitarist playing a masterfully built guitar. Such sweet sounds.
And Wayne is just kneeling on the floor... really great 🎶🎵🎶 video!!
No love button, so I'll settle for like.
That guitar's tone is magical. Mister Hernderson, you are simply the man, thanks for bringing this guitar alive.
I was fortunate/blessed to see and hear Doc perform twice. Those were wonderful pure musical experiences. Sure miss him.
at my very first guitar lesson, my teacher and i just sat there and listened to doc
i hope there will be others that someday can keep on the simple country traditions of mountain music, but there will never be anyone like Doc!

Yes. RIP Doc. You brought us so much more than music. When Doc spoke, it seemed to garner respect. Yet, he was forever humble.
This guy should be recognized for the national treasure that he is!
Doc was/is a National Treasure. I was so fortunate to see him perform live twice at Rockefellers in Houston in the early 1980's. RIP Doc.
What a delight to hear a true master at his craft. I've always marvelled at and appreciated the simplicity and beauty in Doc's playing.

Went to the "Walnut Valley Festival," in Winfield, Kansas a few years ago, all the great guitar contestants had Henderson's.

Pretty standard Travis style picking, or something very similar. As for all the rolls and flourishes, they don't follow a pattern. Pure Doc magic
I checked out the prices on them there Henderson guitars.....YIKES ! Doc makes em sing.
Beautiful !!! it's nice to see Doc in a pair of jeans, being a jeans fan myself, playing a different guitar is not always easily done (it just feels weird)but he's a master go Doc go !!!!

the A part is E,G#7,C#7,F#7,B7,E and the B part(the part where he sings "darlin I love you..." is E,E7,A,F#7,B7 and then repeats the A part one time.
