I married very young in 1984. We're still married and just celebrated our 40th anniversary. I remember back then we all felt like time would stand still. We felt carefree on Sundays. Back in the 80s, Alabama didn't sell alcohol, so we'd all ride to the state line to Mississippi and get draft beer. I thank God for praying mothers because nothing ever happened to any of us. I'm wondering if he felt carefree like us back then. My husband and I finally grew up around 24 and built our first home. God is the head of our lives.
No one will ever know what was going through that young man's head that night. Sometimes doing crazy stuff ends in tragedy,my husband name is John Wesley as well. I pray God gives his family peace that surpasses all understanding. SHALOM

@@coreym162 yeah, I have to agree with you brother… although I was born in the late 70s I remember the 80s very well… the biggest shame is people have no idea what they vote on and will do zero research and rely on the news to tell them how to think… then insane laws are passed, freedoms lost etc. I’m behind the blue wall of commiefornia but that’s changing… especially after this past election.. people need to take responsibility and do their own research and not be an npc.

Live 4 miles away from ki. It was indeed grad night, it was packed, my girlfriend at the time decided not to go because of that, but a lot of people we knew did.
He didn't jump, he tried to ride the top of the elevator up and got killed either trying to get on top or was crushed when it got to the top.
There was a 50 ft level you could take stairs to back then, he got creative and attempted to get on top. That's it. It's only been haunted since the Internet stories began. Been there more times than I can count.

Likely would've given my late Mom even more premature gray hairs had she ever known of some of it.🤣 I very well remember the '80's. Probably A LOT of wouldn't be smoking or have been drinking beer, etc. had most municipalities been more strict about age restrictions. Back in those days, legal age for beer or cigarettes used to be 18. We all figured out ways around that. And, if that didn't work, well, just steal it from your addicted parents!! I’ve never heard of this legend. Poor Johnny!! Drinking too much makes a person make foolish decisions. All he wanted to do is have a great time and it cost him his life. My heart goes out to his family and friends!! As a mother and grandmother my heart breaks for his parents!! Rest in peace Johnny!!

2:28 it's tragic that he passed, but he really didn't miss anything by not being on the box of Wheaties lol he missed a bullet with that one. It's a shame he was young and had his whole life ahead of him. May he rest in peace.

One of the strangest series of deaths was when two maintenance workers got electrocuted in the Viking Ship pond on the same day. There was an exposed electrical wire in the pond. A worker went in the pond for some reason and was fried, then someone tried to help that guy and got electrocuted. Also, on the same day, a wmn died on one of the rides. This was back in 1991.

I also graduated high school in 1983. I went to school in Golden, Colorado, which is not an experience I'd recommend to anybody. Despite school being a miserable experience, I had a few friends and a lot of high times. I'm kind of amazed I didn't end up dead with some of the stupid crap I did.
We had a silly local legend about Molly the Hatchet Lady that went a little bit something like this. If you went to Red Rocks Amphitheatre when the night of the full moon fell on the 13th of the month and sat in the 13th row at midnight, Molly would come and chop off your head. I didn't believe there was a Molly, but I never sat in the 13th row at midnight on a full moon either.
There are a lot of great old graveyards near some of the mountain and prairie towns in Colorado. Unfortunately I'm no longer physically capable of exploring some of them, but if you ever plan to come out this way, I will try to get in touch with you so I can show you some of them and maybe also the marker at the spot where Colorado, Wyoming, and Nebraska touch, and I'll treat you to a Beau Jo's pizza.

Being from Ohio i went to Kings Island many times. I know of 4 other deaths that happened there other then John. They used to have an animal park there and one of the keeper's mistakenly was left in enclosure and killed by a Lion shortly after it was closed, in the late 80s 2 people were electrocuted in the same water area when one stuck his hand in the water not knowing the light in the water had bad wiring and the water was electrified and the 2nd guy died trying to help the first guy jumping in the water after him. The final death in the 90s happened when someone fell out of the ride Flight Commander. They recently had a death at Kings Island when a man jumped a guard rail trying to get his phone or wallet and was hit by a roller coaster rider.

I went to Devry in Columbus in 1984. The drinking age was 19. I was only 17, any bar, convenience or liquor store never once ID'd me for beer, but ALWAYS for cigarettes, which you had to be 21 to buy cigarettes, so I had to get my older roommate to buy them for me. Going to a bar was literally like going to a "party" in someones basement filled with drunken teenagers. I moved there from Kentucky where only 2 or 3 years before raised the drinking age from 16 to 21. I remember buying beer from a fake beer barrel and tap on the wall you would fill up a gallon plastic milk jug in from Convenient stores (back when the "Hey Verne" Jim Varney commercials originated from, and around the same time. We would take them to the local drive in and get drunk every weekend. Everyone did. If you got caught driving drunk with a carload of kids, the cops would just follow you home to make sure you made it ok. Until the Carrolton KY bus crash of course, then they began to crack down on drunk driving all across the country.
