Your transparency and honesty always make me feel less alone in my own struggles. Thank you for being you! Also olive and her spins made my heart flutter she is truly a precious baby angel ❤️❤️
For cantaloupe in the south of France what we do is we smell the top or bottom of the melon and if it smells sweet it’s a good one :) (if it doesn’t smell anything then it might be a shitty one) might seem weird doing this at the grocery store but trust me it works :) lots of love xx
Thank you for showing the realities of the ups and downs of what it’s like living alone, rather than presenting the “perfect life” narrative. Makes me (and I’m sure a lot of others) feel less alone. I remember I heard once a quote that was something like “everyone is always only doing their best”. Sometimes that “best” is not as great as other times, and that’s ok! I also recently had to do a big clear out and clean of the fridge, and my first instinct was to be like “ugh this is disgusting you’re a failure for letting it get like this” but then I checked myself and was like would I speak to someone else that way? It’s ok that things sometimes get messy or dirty. The key is being kind to yourself when you finally get around to cleaning it up lol
Wow its bright out for 8:45! 💫 Nice cleaning/restock motivation! 🌱 Finding beauty and comfort and joy in the mundane is the secret to a happy/healthy life is what I find, the older I get. 🌱 Where I live, we call that dinosaur kale:)
I don’t know why because I’m not English but they say Wuster sauce even though it’s written Worcestershire. I used to say it like you apparently it’s said like Wuster. I love your vlogs, they are my favourite.
I buy about half organic and I spend about $300 for two weeks of food for my boyfriend and I! I also place extra emphasis on buying healthier options plus a few snacks of course! I will always spend the extra $4 for organic things unless of course I’m hurting that month financially. I actually really appreciate you telling us how much you spend! Do you use your veggie scraps at all? I use mine to to make broths!🥰🤩
I would love it if you made a video talking about all your favourite vegan staples. Vegan cheese, milk, yogurt, cream cheese. I’m new to all of this and want to know the best of the best! Love your videos btw❤️
My house has 3 floors, I loved it at first. I hate it now. So many times I need something and it's upstairs or downstairs. I have chronic pain so it feels like climbing Mount Everest. I buy multiples of the same item to keep on each floor so I don't have to be up-and-down all day.I want our next house to be 1 floor or if it has multiples it must be a floor I don't need to go to, like a basement or my spouse's office.
Hello Fern from Puerto Rico!!! That looks like my groceries. I am vegi. But soon to be vegan. I am fully aware on what I eat…it is so important!!! Blessings!!! 🙋🏼♀️🪴💚🐩
Ouch, yes that does seem a lot. I cook whole foods from scratch too, as my husband and I have food allergies. It costs around that for 2 of us, for 3 weeks' worth in the UK. With you on the two grocery store thing. Posh supermarket for the veggies, el cheapo for the cupboard staples 😁.
Your kale is fine! It’s a menace. Mine just haunts me. I leave it in the garden all winter and just when you think it’s dead it’ll give you fresh kale in the spring.
I do the same with my grocery shopping. I get my fresh stuff from a store here in San Diego county called Frazier Farms that I love. Then I go to a chain grocery for basic stuff. Sometimes it's a hassle but the fresh stuff is so much better. Oh. And I'm watching your video as I procrastinate going to the grocery lol.
Random but I live in Queensland, Australia... And fruit outside of the fridge lasts a couple of days before it goes mouldy because it is so humid where I am 🥺 I wish I could have a cute ass fruit basket. AHHHH Just discovered your plant channel and I loooove that you're vegan too how cool ,❤️❤️🌿
When I first discovered your main channel, I really liked your ✨planty videos✨and your general vibe and personality, but when I found out that you were canadian AND vegan… girl, you LOCKED ME IN 😍
I absolutely must do the same thing, my fridge is currently a wasteland - been putting grocery runs off in hopes prices would 📉 Alas…😒 *Olive🫒 under that blanket tho!🥰
Food is so expensive now. I'm in Ontario and I get fruit, vegetables, cheese and other fresh things at Farm Boy. Buy the staples at No Frills. Healthy food is important for sure but it's getting tough out there
@@cozyplantlady11 I am inspired to do meal prep for the week now. Even bought a couple of notebooks and post its. Meal prep and plant chores. Lists, organization, and routine
YAY!! I love your vlogsss as you already know😊 I also love learning about what other ppl eat/ how they prepare meals, there is just so much information to be exchanged so I appreciate it all. Looking forward to more vlogs with you and olive! xx
I bought that cookbook so fast! This was fun to watch. I wonder if you have a store where you can buy food in bulk & save money plus less plastic. They're often a little more work but I like going to them about monthly.
It's safe to say I'm shocked about the prices. I live in the north of Italy and for a whole week for two people (3 meals a day plus snacks) we spend 100 euros which are more or less 128 Canadian dollars..I think it's far more expensive living where you live compared to Italy.
300 Canadian would be about 232 in the US... my husband and I spend about 300 for just us two. We tend to eat more salads in the summer when it gets hotter, which is even cheaper. Organic foods do cost more though! Plus, you eat healthier than we do hehe. 🤗❤️
I’m thinking about going back to vegetarian / vegan, about how long is the amount you food spent get you… 2 weeks, 1 month? I’ll have to triple that amount; me, my husband and teen son (although he’s about 85% vegetarian anyway). This time I wanna incorporate more organic, even natural products for toothpaste, shampoo, etc. And is that a good book to get recipes? Do you recommend any other books or even websites for good vegetarian or vegan recipes? PS my husband is gonna love for us to go back to plant based. He’s been on me for about a year about it!
This is awesome content! I have been using my new airfryer lately.. impulse buyfrom costco 😉 Tonight its chicken wings for hubby but I have just made myself some tomato soup.. and I just LOVE Olive.. makes me miss my jacks.. They used to do the spin before snuggling too 💞
Lol my partner and I share your stairs fantasy! At one point our “big dream” was to have an interior door that wasn’t a bathroom, aka more than one room haha. We have that now but with less square footage than our bachelor did? And we technically have stairs but it’s because we live above a garage so the front door opens to steep narrow stairs. We joke that we have to get more specific with our manifesting!!
Thats close to what we spend for a family of 5 every 2 weeks However we don't buy organic all the time. Also dont eat as healthy as you do haha. I love seeing what you get and make.
That seemed like a lot for groceries until I remembered the conversion rate. I also forgot that I’m a weekly grocery shopper because I have a teeny tiny little fridge, so spending three times what I spend in a week for nearly two weeks isn’t all that bad in C$. I love your vlogs like this, BTW. They’re so chill and soothing.
Yes exact same with me, I will sometimes choose the non-organic things if I'm broke lol. But usually I try to go for organic. And yes I freeze my veggie scraps for broth :)
Hey Fern, I watched this before bed last night and had a dream you moved to a two story antique house, and you vlogged yourself knitting by a river with some organic yarn 😅
I’m about to steal that black bean and avocado snack, lol! That’s so simple but yummy, idk how I haven’t thought of that, that sounds like a great lunch. I’m vegan but I deeeefinitely need to stray away from processed foods 😅 I’d prob add some rice/quinoa to it and maybe some tofu or soy curls too!
As someone from the UK it is quite expensive, I’d spend between £10-50 on a weekly shop depending on what I need. I do not eat as healthy as you though 😊
I'm sorry, did you say Superstore was a CHEAP store for groceries!? I'm in Windsor, Ontario and that is considered expensive here haha. Stores like Food Basics and FreshCo are considered the cheap stores here. Not sure if you have those where you are. Also, how long will all of that food last you?
Really!! That's wild. Superstore is definitely one of the cheapest here. We don't have the other ones you mentioned 👀 . Walmart is probably cheaper but not nearly as many options, especially when it comes to organic etc.
Hey Fern! You probably already know but if you can’t find the recipe online you can take a photo of it and your phone should recognise it is text and you can’t copy and paste from the photo! ❤
if anyone else is european and wondering how much is 300$ canadian in euro, it’s 220€ roughly. which to me is the price that we would shop for our family of 4 for a week or 10 days. wow canadian prices are insane! in germany people give you weird looks if your grocery bill is over 100€, even at the bio (or expensive) stores 🍀🐸 i guess it’s more of a lifestyle to go grocery shopping often here, instead of stocking up..
Interesting! I definitely prefer to make more frequent shopping trips because it gets so overwhelming doing a big one, so I can agree with that lifestyle haha. And yes so expensive here 😩
I guess you would pay half the price for this haul in Germany. Groceries are generally less expensive than in Canada or the US and there are organic options even in the cheaper shops :) great video!
I’m sorry but I am DYING at your pronunciation of Worcestershire 😂💀 It’s pronounced wuh-ster-sher 😉😘 I apologise on behalf of the UK for our place names making no sense 😂
Hi fern I'm a commission artist but I would love to be able to work on a piece of art for you for the new vlog channel ? If you would be into that I'd love to chat with u about it 😊
That's about $235 US dollars, I agree it's expensive, but when it comes to what you put in your body it's smart to make an investment like that, you'll save yourself a lot of pain in the long run by being healthy now!
Would love to see a “what I eat in a day” from you. I’m 2 weeks plant based, so I’ve been watching for inspo lol ❤️
Your transparency and honesty always make me feel less alone in my own struggles. Thank you for being you! Also olive and her spins made my heart flutter she is truly a precious baby angel ❤️❤️

The same in Belguim ;-)
Great tip! My mom taught me this also.
Same in Colorado. Lol
Best is Rocky ford cantaloupe grown in Co.
This is excellent - thank you!!

Yup, can confirm this, am from the UK and it's one of our weird little pronunciation things!
Ha, I just added the same comment - I’m from Worcester, Worcestershire, UK and you’re correct ☺️🙃
so glad i found you! i love your what i eat in a day/week vids (:
thank you so much :)

Ouch, yes that does seem a lot. I cook whole foods from scratch too, as my husband and I have food allergies. It costs around that for 2 of us, for 3 weeks' worth in the UK.
With you on the two grocery store thing. Posh supermarket for the veggies, el cheapo for the cupboard staples 😁.
yessss love a food vlog! so motivating for me :) I like seeing the vegan/natural brands you buy (including the toothpaste haha)
Omg Olive’s little twirls for her food. So stinking cute. ❤
Your kale is fine! It’s a menace. Mine just haunts me. I leave it in the garden all winter and just when you think it’s dead it’ll give you fresh kale in the spring.
haunts you haha 😂 yes I'm growing winterbor so hoping for it to hold up all year! ❄️

Yeah good point, I should check out a bulk store!
Does your housecoat have bear ears ?! 🐻😊❤ pink Lady apples are my fave , as well as cantaloupe. Yum
Yes it does hehe :) 🐻
Glad you're feeling better!! 🤗
How funny, I also bought dried apricots on a whim the other day to snack on! They’re so yummy

300-350 is about average for my boyfriend and i. we arent able to buy a lot of organic stuff often but we stock up on produce a lot

Oh my gosh I love love love food hauls. That Sheese is the best vegan cheese I have ever tasted enjoy
It was SO good! My favourite so far now, too!
Have not started watching video yet, but I am already happy and excited ❤

I love how people from other countries pronounce worcestershire! We literally say "woostershire" in the UK.
lmao yeah I was just winging it 😂

I need “unwell” Fern merch 🥰
Great video! Food is so expensive. We are a family of 3 and spend no less than $200 a week. It’s a struggle.
Thank you for highlighting your vegan eats! Fellow vegan here, almost 7 years 💚
Amazing! My 7 years is in September 🌿💓

Love this foodie content!
The organic food in Belgium is a lot cheaper.
Thanks for reminding me i have to clean my fridge aswell 😂
I hope you might do a vidoe/s focused on your relationship with Olive and how you care for her. ^_^
Love this suggestion!
Do you have a link to share to download the app?
Makes me want to go grocery shopping 😂
I feel like the first grocery haul after depression weeks is always a large one 😅
i love your hair

What you bought in Canada, ORGANIC! That would be easily $600+USD IN MIDWEST USA.
You mean cleaning up your mind and not your fridge?
Yesssss this is the content I want to see
