- To whom is the book of James written? To Christians only, or to unbelievers, or to both?
And what should we make of James 4 when it addresses sinners who need to be cleansed and have their hearts purified and draw near to God?

Just when I start to slip out of grace and into my having to make something happen and getting discouraged, I listen to Andrew and I immediately get my identity and relationship righted with God. He is NEVER mad yt you, not matter what you might think, God is doing everything He can to get you back flowing in His peace, abiding in His joy, and resting in HIS way of grace. Thankful every single second Jesus loves me like He does.. Amen! Yeah God!

Saving faith - is Calvinist lingo
ok so vs. 26 of James two says " for as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also" so does that mean faith without the work of belief is dead?
Hi Tina, I came across your comment, I guess it's 2 years back already? So you might not see this. But John 6:28-29, and they asked, what shall we do, to accomplish The works of God?Jesus says, this is the work of God, that you believe in Him, the one who He had sent. Andrew also has other call and videos that answer this question, maybe in a clearer way. 🎶
A few thoughts. Just because an epistle talks about how to get saved, doesn't mean it is evangelistic. Paul's goal is to explain the theology of salvation to those who are saved.
Next, James 1 defines what double mindedness is, and it's not doubting if Jesus is the Messiah.
Next, James 4 calls the target audience adulterers. Don't you need to be married to someone to be called an adulterer? IE: saved.
Lastly, why would James tell an unsaved person they need to wash their hands and purify their heart? You can't purify your heart if you are unsaved. James should just say: come to Christ and you will get washed
The first example James gives of saving faith is helping those in need. Why didn't you try to cram your analogy of getting saved into that example of works?

Isn't the entire bible written to humans? I am reading James and I don't see any non-humans there. James calls them brethren throughout his epistle.
Matthew mark Luke John written to Jews.... Paul.... apostle to the gentiles.

Although Christ did comes for the Jews FIRST, and as a JEW in likeness and nationality, he ultimately came for ALL.
