  • Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel! With the success of my recent PixInsight tutorial showing how I processed Comet C/2022 E3 (ZTF) I continued the series and am now showing you how I processed a recent image of M101 the Pinwheel Galaxy that I took recently. Hopefully this shows you how to process a galaxy with a OSC camera.
    This image is is a combination of 38x600" exposures to create the final image.
    The full resolution image can be found here: astrob.in/l9cg...

    What a great video, I have learnt many new techniques from this that have really helped me improve my astro images. Thanks bro!!

    I am subscribing due to recent events 🙂 Seriously, I absolutely love your easy going teaching style, your attention to detail and how you are using the more up to date PixInsight tools for post processing galaxies. My only minor disappointment was that you didn't fully process in PixInsight, but your result when completing in PixInsight would make me quite happy as is. I am just learning PixInsight and so far when I try something (galaxies) on my own it flops. Before you mentioned who some of your influences were I remarked to myself that your work order reminds me a little of Lukomatico's approach. So far my only 2 successful PixInsight projects were based off of specific processing techniques of a couple of my captured data of Pleiades and the Rosette Nebula from Lukomatico's videos. I was looking for a recent video for processing galaxies in PixInsight and I am glad to have found your video! I see that you also have a video on processing Comet C/2022 E3. I am anxious to give this a try as I have some unprocessed data of this comet captured.

    Just a quick tip. Dynamic Crop removes your registered embedded astrometric data. Do SPCC first, then crop later since it makes no difference, really, you should save cropping until your basically done. Then you can skip the step of re-plate solving your data. Not a big deal of course, just a little more efficient.

    Since I use a Nikon D7500 and a Sigma 150-600 lens, this kind of easy info really appeals to me. Thanks for making this video about using Pixinsight. You mentioned Bill Blanchett and Luke Matico, maybe I am blind but did you put a link above and I am just looking past it ?
    Thanks

    Looking for the masks by Bill Blanchette, I do not see a link in the description. In fact, the description is for another video on processing comet C/2022 E3. Any help would be appreciated...

    Just curious because I am also processing my M101 data and decided to give your tutorial guide a try to assist me: why SPCC over PCC?

    • @nebulositymeda
      @nebulositymeda  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      To my understanding SPCC is a bit more robust and color accurate

    Small galaxy in huge field. Maybe some cropping needs. Do you see intricate details clearly, when image is magnified 4-6 times? Thanks

      @nebulositymeda  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’m currently lacking a larger focal length telescope (hopefully getting one soon for galaxy season) but I do like the wide field on some galaxies to give perspective. But when cropped it does some show detail still. I have a link to the Astrobin full res photo in the video description

      @@nebulositymeda Thanks! I will look at it. I have ask this question, since I am getting details more with Vixen ED103SS douplet than C8. Probably, my mount (AVX) cannot handle C8.

    Can u use BlurXTerminor before spcc ?

      To my understanding yes. But I also don’t think it would make any difference.
