Yeah, I'm here researching tillers AGAIN, because Earthquake is GARBAGE. Don't buy them. I've had the Pioneer tiller for about 3 years. So far I've had to replace all the belts (and still loose), replace the ignition coil (I know that isn't the right name, but it IS the same thing, can't think of the proper name at the moment), replace all the filter housings because they are cheap plastic that breaks when you remove for cleaning. . . and IT WON'T START. . even the small engine repair guy is telling me to just throw it away. GARBAGE!! and it never really had power of a decent tiller.

I have a RT65 from Cub Cadet. It's a great tiller. However; there's no grease fittings;;; my tine shaft and bearings went out after around 15 years of use on terribly hard soil. Parts are a bit pricey. Can't wait to get it going again.

The RT65 and Troy Bilt Mustang seem to be the exact same tiller and I’m wondering if the Mustang has the same issue.

I agree with the bad reviews given to the Yardmax YT4564. Forget about ordering replacement tines. Last spring (2023) me and my brother in law on seperate emails requested info on tines, and both times Yardmax says they're all out and they would contact us when they restalked. Its now fall of 2024. Still no contact. Were looking into making our own before the spring of 2025. And now we cant get the coil shipped to us because of California prop 65 hazardous material blah blah blah. Not Yardmax fault but sheesh. I dont plan on eating the coil. Sheesh!

I have a 1980 Troybuilt 6.5HP rear counter-rotating Pony model that is still going strong as death! Although the 14” times are worn down to 10”….it still fires on second pull of the Tecumseh engine. It is the best tiller I own. My back up tiller is a strong Cub Cadet RT 65. It’s as close to the old Troybuilt I can get!

The Yardmax is the exact same tiller as the DR dual rotating time model and the tines are the worst I’ve ever seen. Watch how they flop when rotating. They’re not spaced correctly from row to row. It’s puzzling how they do not know this. You just can’t beat Troy Bilt tines whether they’re the BOLO or the ones on the Mustang.

Also, the video was very sloppy. It frequently cut between rear tine and front tine when showing the tillers. At least I didn't notice it switch brands inside a segment. I feel slightly less informed that I would if I had gone to each manufacturers web site to watch their promo footage.

I have the earthquake pioneer and it has been a very efficient tiller until the carburetor went out on it. I have been waiting for six months to get one because it’s an offbrand motor. Of course the parts come from China and they’re still waiting for the carburetor which makes the tiller, absolutely worthless, so now I’m looking for a Rototiller that has a common motor that I can get parts for. The carburetor only lasted three years and the company informed me that that’s about the lifespan whether you do everything right or not.

@@donnastormer9652 That is why I got a yardmax 4565. I haven't used it yet so I can't say anything about the quality but it has an off the shelf motor. My main concern was that I wanted the option to buy an aftermarket electric start if the pull start gets to be too much.

I've been using a front tine arm breaking tiller while I search for a new one, thinking of buying a Troy-Built horse but I found an ecnohorse (same size as the horse, belt driven, but no pto) that's really clean and cheap. I grew up using an electric start horse and miss it.
This front tine tiller is killing me, it works better than the average size rear tine tiller (digs better, deeper and quicker) but it destroys your arms in the process.
