This guy can make mistakes and both of the girls and their country had already forgiven him. And I know what you mean. But I don't see a similarities of killing and mispoken. But forget the similarities it is still comes down that he made a mistake and he did take responsibility and have apologised about it for a lot of times. I feel disappointed because I am a filipino, it took pia's big moment. But it is all in the past. And I don't see any reason that we shouldn't start over. We shouldn't forget about it but learn from it.

It's actually his fault. On the card it wrote "first runner up Miss Colombia". He could've been more careful when reading what wrote on that card. But yeah, he's an honest man nevertheless. He accepted his mistake and took full responsibility.

What people don't realize is that it wasn't even steves fault. It was the producers. They told him in his earpiece what name to say on the card, he said it, they told him good job. Then 4 minutes later they realized they screwed up so Steve, like a man, took the blame for everything. I admire him for it
I am an anchor...and the same happened to me...earlier this year.. I was hosting Mrs India...I was told to announce a particular name as a winner and then told to apologize because the guys at the backend mixed up the winner and runner-up...I was embarrassed to death...having to apologize every though it actually wasn't my fault...relate with Steve's predicament completely.

+Ciera Weisel Certainly, but just imagine yourself in that situation: You think you have achieved what you so dearly longed for, only to suddenly be told "Oops, we said the wrong winner". That goes beyond just hurt feelings, it was indeed very embarrassing for her and in front of an audience of millions no less too. I think if I had been her at that moment, I would have died from humiliation.
Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but that doesn't change what it must have felt like for her in that very moment.

Yeah, it seemed like she was throwing a ton of shade at him with her response to Matt laur in the end where she said Steve Harvey’s explanation was that “his eyes went to the left of the card” but he ACTUALLY said he was reading the TelePrompTer while listening to his ear-piece (both stated Columbia as the winner according to him, whom I trust) and kept the card low so no one could see the answer before the reveal. She twisted that a quiet a bit...

Talk about next year's card? It's simple one name should be on the card and one name only, and that name is the winners name. No other name is needed on that card.
True, and if they do need to have all three names on the card, then "Winner" and the Winner's name should be at the very top in bold, large fonts. First and second runner up should be at the bottom in smaller fonts. Side by side the way they had it was ridiculous.....they really know how to over-complicated a simple task.

Talk about a silver lining! Its funny how out of some of the worst situations, the best things can come out of it. I cant imagine what Steve Harvey felt like in that moment, and getting death threats! Crazy but good to see all is well.
I don't really think those threats were real, probably they were just trying to scare him. But in case they were colombian people, I'm going to have to apologize for them. We colombians are family oriented human beings that know how painful is dead for all the conflicts out country has been trough in the past. May peace come into Harvey family's home.

I don’t really like Steve’s humor but he was raised right. Hardly anyone these days can take responsibility like that. Good there’s someone like him on tv and in the public eye that can be looked up to. It’s so hard for people, myself included, to take a hit to the ego and own up to something, especially enormously embarrassing like that.
Honestly this guy doesnt deserve any hate at all, he did an honest misstake and he is honestly open and regretful about it. Misstakes happens.
I have Colombian friends. They are a very proud people and they love their country, even emigrants. They are also very warm and friendly. It's going to take some time to get over the anger but they will. Colombia isn't nearly as bad as the western press makes it out to be.

As a stage manager myself, it makes me very angry that they used different cards in rehearsal. That’s one of the biggest no-nos in all of theater(especially if they’re reading something). Practice exactly how the show will be. Once it’s showtime, the actors are running on habit, not conscious analysis. That’s the nature of learning their part. It’s an adrenaline rush, so they need to know their part without having to think. It needs to be second nature. The fact that Steve was put in that situation is a disgrace.
"Hey Miss Columbia finally recovered. How do we interview her?"
"HEY CAN YOU GO THROUGH ALL YOUR FEELINGS WHEN YOU THOUGHT YOU WON?!"

In beauty pageants it's customary to announce first the runner up, then they announce the winner. So, I think Miss Colombia was in fact the "next name" he was supposed to announce but as the runner up not as the winner.
Since 2011 edition of MISS UNIVERSE, they are announcing the winner instead of the First Runner UP
