Thanks. Travelling in the way you do, in that you want to broaden your perspectives, and experience how other people live, expands one as a person. People who just want to go some place but want that place to be like the place they are familiar with miss that opportunity. What I found is that the American influence is so broad that it covers over other cultures and puts a "sameness" on what use to be diversity. That is the tourist market. To spend time in a place and explore it without that constrainting frame of wanting it to be familiar is the best way to expand one's own life.

Another delightful and charming video for you. For some reason (just based on casual observation of your videos) you seem to be drawn to the Spanish speaking world... but it provides us the opportunity to check it out with you... total bonus! Cheers and adventure on!

You’re right Marcel, I’m very interested in Latin America and Spain and the relationships between these cultures. I’m generally very interested in the effects of colonialism

@@dianawanderlust I originally come from Malaysia... and the peninsular which was then Malaya was colonized by the Portuguese, Dutch and the British starting in the early 1500s mainly because of the spice trade.

@@dathang Yes, I’m aware of what happened in Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines too. I remember I met someone from Philippines in Georgia when I was 15. She told me a little bit about the history of Philippines and I was seriously shocked. Until then I never realized how far the effects of colonialism can go

@@dianawanderlust the fact that we at present complain about European colonialism is a quirk of fate. If a hundred years earlier (in the early 1400s) Zheng He's voyages (there were 7 in all) had not stopped... we might now be complaining about Chinese colonialism... well, at least in that part of the world.

The comparison between Puerto Rico and Georgia was really interesting. Coming from the center of an empire I never really thought about how all countries on the periphery have a similar experience, no matter how different their imperial neighbors might seem on the surface. I wonder how close the parallels are. There is probably a Georgian community in Moscow equivalent to our Nuyoricans?

I agree so much with you about Russians. Not only in Georgia and Ukraine, Venezuela and most countries where Russian Government had any contact they are hating them because of logical reasons.
How can we stand them as Russians can't stand each others.

I am very happy you have made light of the subject. One thing I can tell you is that my mother in law who rents a home in Isabella and I am talking about 3 bedroom 2 bathrooms beautiful and huge spacious home rents it for $290 monthly. You don’t see that in the U.S. and will never see cheap rent like that in the U.S. I am sure a lot of other Boricuas can relate to the very cheap rent. The gringos want to buy Puerto Rico and turn our Island into the U.S. were people will be forced to move or be homeless cause they won’t afford to rent.Sorry but gringos have ruined the U.S. a country were homelessness is a big problem and I will dare say is the only country where you see more homeless people than any other country because of greedy heartless gringos.

Hello! It's just a recommendation. When traveling you cannot take as the feeling or thinking of an entire town just because you see negative propaganda on the streets because normally that type of propaganda is from a minority. Therefore they tend to be more vocal than most in getting noticed. That happens in all countries. I bet you the treatment you received was with open arms.
