Happy you enjoy the island so much. I don’t think any Puerto Rican currently living has not had Chocolate Cortés, and the more mature ones definitely remember fighting over being the first to get the little book as soon as the wrapping was opened. Definitely a huge part of the culture and history of the archipelago.
Thank you so much! We have been to San Juan and OSJ several times prior to a cruise and will be going again in January 2025 and this time I will be bringing my mom. Want to show her a lot and considering whether we should stay in an Airbnb in the city prior to our cruise. This is convincing me to book that city OSJ Airbnb. Never have I taken a walking food tour. I should.
Thank you Liz and Dennis for putting so much work into this video. I appreciate you taking the time to research and share the history, food and beauty of my island! It’s an amazing video. I have never stayed in old San Juan but it’s the first time I hear about this water issue. Loosing power is common but water not so much. Has to be an old San Juan thing.
Losing water is actually common all over the island, especially during certain seasons. It’s really unfortunate, but I’m fully expecting it to happen when we visit family this summer. A lot of the bigger hotels have extra reserves, so it’s usually a quick fix.
When the water goes off is because of the rain, the cruises don have anything to do with the problem, it's because we have lakes thar are small than other places and when they get full we need to close all the compartments that receive water to wait and get sanitized. But most or almost everyone can drink safley water withouth getting sick, but the problem is that is takes some time and maybe 3 to 5 hours to give the people healthy water.
I appreciate your video and information! I did want to note that Panama is the birthplace of reggaeton but Puerto Rico popularized it for mainstream America
I’ve always found puerto rico beautiful and I hope I can live there one day. I love the culture and traditions so much, the only thing I’m scared of is how vulnerable PR is to tsunamis 💔 I’m deathly scared of them
Great Vid, extremely informative & adding the QR codes, nice touch and U didn't even touch the center of the island or the west coast. U might wanna look at adding a Part 2 BUT Old San Juan is hard to beat. I have been to PR maybe 35-40 times, yes I love to travel, and I never get tired of it. It truly has something for everyone, U just have to look and be patient especially with the weather and the water & electrical infrastructure. BUT I will say this....the food & drinks are on a worldly level. Puerto Ricans got game with cooking because they season EVERYTHING. YES you have to know where to go but that's everywhere on the planet BUT use the QR codes in this video, that's a huge plus and of course ask the locals or the uber/lift/taxi drivers. Last thing....Puerto Rico for me, is beyond special. It's romantic smh wtf wow that was awesome & RUFK ME all in 1. Like everywhere else that's touristy, keep your eyes peeled and your head on a swivel, stay away when locals say stay away. English is widely spoken so don't be shy to use it and or test your Spanish. It is truly The Shining Star of the Caribbean
Great video and very informative! I have to check out some of those spots you visited. I'm from PR so I usually stay away from tourist areas when I go visit but this video changed my mind. I'll be a tourist next time. 😂
Just to correct a fact. Puerto Rico was spanish for more than 400 years not 250. And before the USA invasion was a spanish province with all the duties and rights, now just an colony of the USA. Like the video. Thanks.
I enjoy your video. Among the best ones I watched. Next time in 🇵🇷 look for " grekiandopr ". Private tours to amazing places around the island. Thanks for visiting PR!
Bacardí is not the best rum of Puerto Rico, is made here but its not Puerto Rican, if you want the best rum of Puerto Rico and the World is (Don Q Serralles) you can make a tour in El Castillo Serralles in Ponce, Puerto Rico ( The Serralles Castle) the best experience and views you could have with the best rum of the World is there.
I was once in the Dominican Republic, and right in the middle of my shower, the water went out. It was an awful experience. I did not know it was also an issue in San Juan, PR.
The incident when the water went out, was a rare incident that normaly doesnt occur in San Juan. It was in the old San Juan, maybe because there was a rain storm on that moment, that could affected the water service of the old San Juan. Puerto Rico has more rivers than any other island in the caribbean, and there is no lack of water, like other islands in the caribbean.
We only pay for the pass if we know we'll be visiting enough National Parks that year. If not we pay the 1 time entrance fee. We explain how and when to know if it's worth it here eatseerv.com/annual-national-park-pass-is-it-worth-the-money/
03:40 The Spanish never considered their possessions on the American continent as colonies. That is the responsibility of the British and French. For Spain, its overseas territories had the same status as any region of European Spain, and its citizens were Spanish. The British colonies or French did have their inhabitants in a lower status than the British or French metropolis.
To correct everyone Puerto Rico was Boriken and was discovered by Christopher Columbus 530 year ago , it was spaniel island for 400 years before USA 🇺🇸 took possession of our island 130 years ago, No 350 that was incorrect

Yay so glad you liked it! Yes the Airbnb rental agreement actually stated how big of an issue it can be 😔.
Losing water is actually common all over the island, especially during certain seasons. It’s really unfortunate, but I’m fully expecting it to happen when we visit family this summer. A lot of the bigger hotels have extra reserves, so it’s usually a quick fix.
