Great list. You hit my favorite park that often gets overlooked. Not saying which one because I am bummed you listed my favorite park and now others will know about it. :)
San Luis Obispo County in California, has a couple great beach camping locations: Oceano Dunes and Pirate's Cove, to name two. No amenities, but cheaper than a campground.
Hi Dan! We'd love for your to share your experiences at these places by leaving a review on the appropriate Campendium pages for these spots! (www.campendium.com) Happy camping - Liz
Dear liz, i'm from hawaii and there's alot of beaches you can go camping at the beach but the only thing is that now you have to get a permit and you never had to do that before and i miss camping)
Should mention where on California coast these campgrounds are. I live on California coast and don’t recognize some of these campgrounds. Also would be nice to state if these camping spots can accommodate tents.
Hi Me Me! All of the campgrounds mentioned in the video are listed in the description. You can also check out all of camping in California here: www.campendium.com/california
Thanks for the great list of must-sees. It was great to see Camano Island make the list. I guess that's why we've been having a hard time nabbing our favorite spot!
Great video but I really would have loved to see a map with these locations...I'm planning this route and I'll be googling each of these to figure out where they are. Thanks!
Great content and thanks a million for including links. Happy holidays! Edit to say I just visited your nice website. I just wanted to suggest you might want to add a newsletter to stay front of mind.
You can search for free camping where you want to be by heading over to www.campendium.com and utilizing the 'Show Free' filter after you search for a location. Happy (free) camping! 🌊 - Liz
Everything is owned by somebody. In my region everything below the high tide reach is state owned and open for public use. The state also owns more than 700 vessels that were abandoned where found when the tide retreated. Reader can own any of them by contacting the state. Free if reader provides proof of paid insurance and an address where the hull would be moved to. While waiting to do all that feel free to go camp on your selected hull. Which may range from sport rides to working types. Big or small.
Thank you Jared for not mentioning the best campround on the entire west cost. Its already hard enough to get a spot there, and I'm glad you didn't tell everyone about it.
Great video guys! I'm subbed now. I enjoyed this a lot as it made me start looking up these places and dreaming about if we could pull off a trip to some of these places. We just got back from a trip to Cannon Beach, OR and we were so impressed - we want to go back and explore the coast!
Hey Jared 😃I’m in Southern California thinking about taking a drive alone the beautiful Southern Cal coast line, up to Washington✅Thanks for sharing what looks like some of the most Awesome camp grounds along the way.🇺🇸
good resource but leapfrogging from Sonoma all the way to Oregon misses some of the best beach camping on the west coast in Mendocino and Humboldt Counties.
Most of these camping locations have fees associated with them. To see up-to-date info on pricing, click on the link to each campground above. Happy beach camping! 🏖 -Liz
Nice list! We live close to Rincon so have camped there several times. Wright’s Beach looked like our style! Oregon has amazing campgrounds everywhere - our old Lab loved cooking off in the lake at Fort Stevens.
Hi April, Campendium was started by a couple of full-time RVers who are in an Airstream and many of their friends who are also Airstreamers have contributed to the site. Since then, the Airstream community has been an active part of the site. That said, it is certainly not limited to Airstreams, but explains why there happen to be so many Airstream pics. :)
Another great spot! www.campendium.com/patricks-point-state-park We should revisit beach camping in the future, there are so many more great locations to cover.
No offense, but this video is basically useless without a more detailed explanation of the spots you are pointing out to us. Are they free, do they have hook ups, are they accessible to large trailers?
Been to all these places. They all suck. You're packed in like sardines with loud obnoxious RVers on a crowded dirty beach and usually right next to the PCH so you get to enjoy the highway noise. In addition, good luck finding a spot in the summer if you haven't booked well in advance. There is only one spot on the west coast where you can truly camp on the beach and enjoy nature in solitude and quiet and I aint gonna divulge it less it starts overflowing with van bums. Leave the coast, camp in the woods
If you're looking for differently priced options, head over to www.campendium.com and use the price filter tool to see what's available where you want to be. Happy camping - Liz
Ya know- Instead of laying them all out on a blanket and insuring a crowded or 'Campground Full' experience why not encourage ways people can find their own awesome experiences? AAA ruined Kirk Creek CG years ago when they put it on the cover of Via. Go check the reservations (I did). They are booked up for 6 months and you can't reserve more than 6 months out. Same for Wright's Beach. enjoy.
None of these videos are any use to the average American we can't afford to pay for any camping we're looking for free camping somewhere near the beach I've seen a street and I don't know what street it is in Northern California well Southern it's a road that runs runs alongside 101 and you're allowed to park on that road and as far as I can see it's free because there's a bunch of people Park their right off the exit right next to the beach I don't know what it's called I don't know what county it's in but as far as I can tell it's free and that's what I'm trying to find
Can't believe Rincon made the list. It's all asphalt, rip rap beach, loud as heck freeway and trains. The neighbors are on top of you. Not peaceful or private. Yuck
Rincon in Ventura is the Best!!!!❤️❤️❤️
South Beach, my very favorite Washington campground!!
Thank you for giving so many choices with beautiful pictures.
I have camped at the beach in California for years. I never heard of any of these, great list for future camping.
Very cool! If you note that we're missing a spot over on www.campendium.com that you enjoy, do be sure to let us know!
We yelled CuhMayNo!!! Hahahaha! Fort Flagler, Fort Warden are both amazing and worth a visit! Thank you for coming to Washington!!
Great video to re watch! Thank you!
Thanks for the great content of beach camping along the west coast video.
You're welcome 🌸
Harris Beach is epic! I loved it there.
🏖😌
Great list. You hit my favorite park that often gets overlooked. Not saying which one because I am bummed you listed my favorite park and now others will know about it. :)

Do we need to make reservations for tent only camping at Crystal Cove State Park? Or is this video only referring to RV sites?
Should mention where on California coast these campgrounds are. I live on California coast and don’t recognize some of these campgrounds. Also would be nice to state if these camping spots can accommodate tents.
Hi Me Me! All of the campgrounds mentioned in the video are listed in the description. You can also check out all of camping in California here: www.campendium.com/california
Half moon bay is amazing!! We camped there a few years back and definitely look forward to going back!

Hi Ami! We have a weekly email you can subscribe to from our homepage! www.campendium.com
Another great video! Thanks Jared! Those are really hard campgrounds to get reservations at. Any tips on getting reservations?
Thanks Karen! Research opening day/hour of the reservation window, and check frequently for cancelations! Happy camping - Liz
Is there any free camping on the roadside of the pch?
You can search for free camping where you want to be by heading over to www.campendium.com and utilizing the 'Show Free' filter after you search for a location. Happy (free) camping! 🌊 - Liz
I do not drive but my brother does but i love camping😁
We love camping too! Happy camping! - Liz
Wrights Beach CG was off the charts ! Just wish California wasn't so far from Georgia :-(

Hi, you should tell us the Names of the towns where these campgrounds are.
Hey Kevin - there are links below the video to details of all of the campgrounds mentioned!
Thank you Jared for not mentioning the best campround on the entire west cost. Its already hard enough to get a spot there, and I'm glad you didn't tell everyone about it.
I agree. He missed a few great spots for sure.
We are just about to make the trip from Monterey Bay to Washington, this might be helpful
Only got 1 questions.
Are dogs allowed? If not on the beach, then bear the beach
Depends on the beach! You'll have to check with the particular beach you're interested in. 😊
Great video guys! I'm subbed now. I enjoyed this a lot as it made me start looking up these places and dreaming about if we could pull off a trip to some of these places. We just got back from a trip to Cannon Beach, OR and we were so impressed - we want to go back and explore the coast!
All the campgrounds near the Bay Area Coast are booked for the winter.. Is it because people can't afford rent they're camping?
@Campendium 360 it's so frustrating.. I remember back in the 80s it was all about first come first serve and there was always a campsites.
The only way I can make reservations at these campsites is if someone cancels. That happens if I am lucky.
Love your webpage!!!!!
Hey Jared 😃I’m in Southern California thinking about taking a drive alone the beautiful Southern Cal coast line, up to Washington✅Thanks for sharing what looks like some of the most Awesome camp grounds along the way.🇺🇸
oregon coast ftw
good resource but leapfrogging from Sonoma all the way to Oregon misses some of the best beach camping on the west coast in Mendocino and Humboldt Counties.
What is the approximate cost per night with no hookups
That completely depends on the campground or campsite. You can view the most recent reported costs for each campsite over on www.campendium.com 📝
Are these all free?
Most of these camping locations have fees associated with them. To see up-to-date info on pricing, click on the link to each campground above. Happy beach camping! 🏖 -Liz
and how much do these camping spots cost per night
We link to each location in the description where you'll find the most recent price paid. Hope that helps!

"Cah-May-No" Island... Just sayin' ;) Nice video Jared!
😂You can count on Jared!
How come there are so many airstreams in the pictures?

Camping with 100 Geocaches? Count me in.
Great stuff! I added you to one of my playlists :-) Just subbed too!
You missed Patrick's Point State Park in Trinidad, California. It beats all those you mentioned hands down. What an obvious blunder for Campendium!
Another great spot! www.campendium.com/patricks-point-state-park We should revisit beach camping in the future, there are so many more great locations to cover.
Cam-a-no state park!
ca May no
Cape Disappointment 👍🇺🇸
That's a good one!! ❤️
Goddamn I want to go. I want to go so bad.
Well damn, throw it down son. GO!
No offense, but this video is basically useless without a more detailed explanation of the spots you are pointing out to us. Are they free, do they have hook ups, are they accessible to large trailers?
Dude, you better check how to pronounce Camano. Yeah it doesn't follow the English rules but if you actually spent time there? I do enjoy your videos!

You want to be aware of Fukushima radiation from Japan on our west coast not to mention valley fever in land of ca.
