When Rusty says “So buddy. Who needs you?” I don’t think it’s intended as an insult or anything but rather a genuine question. He did just say that Rubicon still needs him, he’s basically like “so what are YOU fighting for?” God I love Rusty.
Regarding how you move fron AC to AC, an augmented human isn’t necessarily bedridden. C4-621 was kept in a comatose storage state in the story trailer, but augmented humans are in fact more physically capable than normal ones. To pilot an AC at that level, most normal humans would be crushed ubder the g forces and even if not, they’d really struggle to keep up with an augmented pilot. What it does damage, is your mental ability. You don’t talk and you don’t feel - that is untill you have another personality shoved into your head. The Hounds of Walter were pretty much meat robots with no will of their own, but working with you and unknowingly, Ayre, Walter has seen you grow into a person from a product. Notice how he gradually goes from treating you as just a sold service to defending you when corp members badmouth you. The writing here is subtle, but so damn good
Dude, I forgot how fucking hype this game is, and your phenomenal playthrough continues to reignite (ha) that feeling. Also, really good job on the Ibis Cel fight; that's one fight that took me a while.
@@NewSeraphim I'd rather not downplay Mapo beating it second try with the typical "pre-nerf" talk; rather just celebrate him, than indirectly put him down
I swear fromsofts writers came up with a heap of sick one-liners first, then built the rest of the story and characters around them lol. But it is honestly a great way of making characters feel memorable and distinct, without having a ton of dialoge or even physical appearance to go off of.
How mobile and functional C4-621 actually is as a human being is still discussed. We see them in the story trailer in a bag on an operating table being woken up for Walter. However their home for most of the game is a self contained garage inside some kind of container in which they can freely move around and do things in. So assumedly they can still stand and walk about at the very least.
621 is fully functional. It's never implied otherwise in the game. He's in a bag in the trailer because he's recovering from some sort of operation. Remember the "seller" says to walter that he's "helping him clear out his inventory". The trailer heavily implies that 621 has been "in storage" for a while (cryogenics?), and is being "brought back online" to be sold to walter. That's also what them having numbers instead of names indicates, that these pilots are treated like items that can be stored and traded.
PEAK CINEMA. You did absolutely fantastic against Ibis Cel. And dude, Walter's briefing got me too. It's amazing what this game can do to make you care for faceless characters
I didn't plan on playing through this 3 times when I started either but it didn't take long for that to change and it was completely worth it. This and Lies of P were the only games that year I beat 3 times before I put them down.
It's really impressive how they've managed to make us like characters like Walter with only his voice. Also I would like to point out his words "Feed the fire. Let the last cinders burn" were the first words we've seen on the reveal trailer of AC6
Oh and how you get to your AC. During the message from Walter you can see yourself crawling through the water towards the mech. Easy to miss when such an awesome briefing is playing
Not really, actually. It never has been stated wether we even have any control of out main body at all. The closest hint we can get is from the story trailer (the one where we lie on the table while Walter speaking) and it did not seem as we're in a good condition to crawl anywhere. And it seems strange that there is no ripple on water while we "crawl" through it. Anyhow, if we think of the scale ratio from AC to a human size, it seems quite odd for us to be able to get into one by ourselfs (The average sizo of our AC is 10 meters, the size of a 5 five-story building basically). Plus, we did not know that Walter even kept this old AC hidden somewhere, meaning we dont know where to crawl to begin with. (if you remember the locations, the distance is just unbelievable for a human to crawl through) This situation is pretty strange anyway, there is too much information absent, maybe developers even hidden it on purpose. The one thing we really need to know in this scene, is that we somehow did get into the AC that was prepeared for us. Either way, the focus was intended to be on the lore monologue, not on these insignificant details. Anyway, did not mean any negativity, it just irritates me (i know that's my problem) that too many of players present this information as a fact.
@@skrimerps It is never implied that you cannot move, that's like thinking someone can't move after being operated on in a clinic because they laid on a table. Let's take G5 Iguazu for example. It is never implied that he cannot move or has any trouble in that regard. You can even see him in one of the stv sketches fully functional and especially with how many times his AC fails he should be stuck in it by that logic and just die, but he doesn't. Same for characters that are an earlier gen than you. And if even Sulla has nothing in his bio about that being a thing, why would a be a problem for later gens that just continued improving?
It really is funny how much they carry over from souls despite the massive shift in setting. I laughed out loud when I got to phase 2 of Balteus and he started using a fire sword.
and missiles too. if anything they're even worse. At least you just hit the skeletons and they take damage. These wheels on the other hand are just absolute menaces lol.
They really do combo the most Souls-feeling boss so far with the bone wheel skeleton mechs before it, I definitely went through this part like "yep, it sure does say FromSoftware on the front cover." It was fun trying to deal with them with my crippling addiction to the pile bunker. The red of the coral makes that boss fight look absolutely beautiful, btw, just absolutely insane visuals as it kicks your ass. Mine a fair bit more than yours.
You're not a bedridden vegetable, the trailer just shows you coming out of the freezer and needed to be woken up. You're a functional human just as much as the other pilots in the game who have undergone surgery. It's why when you're in your garage, you can see a view of your own AC. The main thing that has been shot by the surgery is your emotions, and possibly your speech too, among other side effects. But, you can walk, eat, drink, and poop just as much as the other augmented humans.
I'm really glad to see someone actually appreciating the story of the game. I genuinely find it a very engaging one with very active characters (Walter's my fave by far)
Man, from being forced to fight our buddy, to the discovery of Institute City, to fighting the ibis series, and to that whole ordeal with Walter, what an absolute PEAK of an episode! I love this game
Trust me, if you'll be doing NG+ and NG++ playthroughs to unlock the true ending, you'll spend some more time fighting the Ibis mech with the added NG+ health and damage :D
I’m really sad they nerfed Balteus and Cel 240. They used to be major progression walls. Admittedly, they were way too strong, but now it hardly feels like the same fight. His experience will never be the same as mine was on release :(
You're way overblowing this nerf (On Balty at least) all that was nerfed was a slight missile tracking decrease, I have literally tried out the mod that makes Balteus 1.0 level and the difficulty increase was maybe like 5%, 10% if you use a really slow AC. You simply got better at the game and probably also use much better AC designs which now gives you an illusion that release day fight were these HUGE walls, they are still hard fights man and Mapo is just genuinely good at this game and also has decent AC desings.
You did so well against CEL-240 that you didn't even get to see its most ridiculous move where it turns itself into a turbo missile and deletes your hopes and dreams. It's wild how quickly you pick up these games.

I'm not going to take your victory over the ibis, but this is post patch difficulty. This thing was a nightmare in the first month after release. So was every boss actually.
Oh nooo, you kind of missed the big claw attack, it's so cool. It actually did it to you for a second but was barely on screen, maybe you saw it while editing. Ibis is such a cool boss, AC Malenia is what it felt to me too haha.
Mapo, great job against Mech-laneia, blade of Rubicon! That thing took me a long time (even post-nerf I guess). The right setup can make such a big difference.
