One thing I've been asking around about - do you know a way to do this work with the car battery negative post disconnected? All the moving of the shift lever will not be possible without the power on (I guess I could use shift lock release, but I have yet to learn where exactly it is on my car). I want to do the radio removal and installation this way just to make sure there won't be any accidental shorting or anything else that could end up being un-fun.

Ok for the ashtray why did u just completely skip over what needed to be done to get it to come out. Removing that screw is only half the step.
