Cracking video as per usual, for me, the standout game that you have picked up. Is this cool too. I have a lot of fun memories of playing Discworld and disco to back in the 90s. Sadly I no longer have them but they are on my list of games that I’m constantly on the lookout for.
@KohighMathy strangely pricey the discworld games. I haven't played them for at least 22 years but now I've got the second one and all 3, I'll be playing them back to back
Hello Yorkie mate. After my stream, I watched most of your videos. You have an unrivalled PS1 collection. That really is frustrating about overboard. I've had the same problems with ordering from CEX's website. It definitely is a gamble. Your videos have made me remember so many great PS1 games that are now on my list. Great videos, mate. looking forward to your next one. Thanks so much for catching my stream yesterday. I really appreciate it.
@AnotherNormalYorkshireman I have a small collection myself. However, I'm only buying games that I had growing up. I was 10 years old when I got a PS1 fot Christmas back in 1996. Awesome console. Loads of memories there. Good luck in that full set. It's going to be rough. Especially with the amount of toss you're going to have buy and the expensive stuff, too. 😅
@command-and-console yep there's quite a few really expensive games that are utter trash. It seems like the good games are way cheaper than the bad ones. My biggest issue so far is that ps1 games just aren't as plentiful as they used to be in shops.
@Rocko_onionprince the old ps1 era of jrpgs was amazing. I'm still finding more as I collect more games. There's another jrpg title coming in my next video 😁
@tazmo2237 I do intend on playing every single game at some point. Even the rubbish ones. I cant get away with using my daughter to play them forever. 🤣
I’m guessing that’s a result with Overblood2. Once again, nice additions…highlight is Little Mermaid 😂 gotta love fullsetting-rough with the smooth. I cannot put the non full black label games in the collection now, found it frustrating way back when I went through my collection and found loads of them, now strictly stay away from them. Nice subset completed 😉👍
@RetroHulkster nope, overblood 2 was only £12. I got a refund and bought number 2 anyway. Reordered the first one so that will be a subset finished again. I don't like the value stuff either, it was super cheap so I will just replace them as I go. I've been doing that with a few games, whenever I see them I buy them, then just sell on the value version. I'm trying to just get them all first then upgrade as I go. Hope that makes sense. Haha. I was gutted about overblood being wrong as I was keen to play it and don't want to play 2 before 1.
Reselling is all a part of the game mate, all collectors buy bundles and shift off spares to put the money back into the collection, it’s part and parcel of the hobby! Some more nice additions there, I used to really like the discworld games but they always used to end up frustrating me as I never had the patience to figure them out 😂!
35 quid for overblood one is crazy money i used to buy and resell a few years ago and could buy silent hill ps1 for 10 quid a pop etc , still have about 30 to 50 sealed ps1 games upstairs rarest being team buddies mint
I think Overblood 1 and 2 are similarly priced, either way UK copies of both are rare. Online sellers usually sell italian/german versions, if you care about that stuff. I’d keep it tbh
@borizzle1 I took it back as the second one sells for £12. I got a refund, bought the first one again and then paid separately for this copy of 2 as its in excellent condition. I'm trying to keep all the games to English versions.
I always fancied trying Micro Maniacs but never did Seems to be a few incorrect titles being sent out by CEX lately, you'd think 2 was rarer, I don't ever remember seeing that back in the day but saw the original lots👍
@retroimportgamer513 I thought that too. It turns out number 2 is only £12. It's ok as i got a refund, then bought 2 anyway. Micro maniacs is ok, just don't go into it expecting a game like micro machines like I did.
I'm surprised i didn't buy Spyro back in the day as i thought it looked good & i played the demo a lot i think to(but Crash Bandicoot had my full attention/obsession then) :D I got the Trilogy on PS4 tho & really enjoyed that. Cool pick ups to & way to fund it to 👍
@Carl-G yeah spyro is great. Crash was really hard, a bit too hard for me. Haha. Thank you, I'm trying to make collecting ps1 less expensive as there's a lot of pricey ps1 games.
@AnotherNormalYorkshireman On the day of the 30th Anniversary of PlayStation I played the original Crash + Tomb Raider(on PS1 discs) on my PS3 & the control's were soooo difficult & I thought how the hell did I complete them back in the PS1 days :D Crash 1 was really difficult yeah. I played FIFA 98 to(with David Beckham on that to) :D (those were my first 3 games I played at my friend's house & I thought I NEED a PlayStation NOW) ;)
@AnotherNormalYorkshireman Yeah I tried the Abe games & they were to hard so that put me off them(well I always tried the demos of them) + FIFA 98 was amazing for it's time 👍 But I tried it on my PS3 & when you started a match the screen just goes all strange & it was unplayable(it's like WipeOut 3 doesn't work on a PS3 to. It gets stuck when trying to start a race) Crash & Tomb Raider works ok tho. Shame that :(
Overblood 2 is not worth 35 pounds, BUT if it is the 2001 press, then it might be worth keeping it. That's because the 1999 edition is bugged and you won't be able to play it after the first 20% of the game
@@zenion-1 I'm not sure which version I have, I think it may be the original release. I will just have to play it and find out. I did take it back for a refund, and I ordered the first one again. Decided to buy it anyway.
@@AnotherNormalYorkshireman the year is written on the back cover, under the Playstation logo. If you read 1999 Evolution Entertainment srl, you are doomed forever. Permanent freeze of the game because four robot spiders fall from the ceiling when you open a certain door, no way to get through it. PS the first Overblood has no issues, I have played it last year. It's a "so bad it's good" game, I can say
@zenion-1 yep it's the 1999 version then. I guess I'll just have to keep a look out for the 2001 version. What a pain in the backside that is. Thank you for the heads up on that. Just another variant of a game I need to find. Haha. I will give the first one a play once it finally arrives. Let's hope it's the right one this time. 🤞
@@AnotherNormalYorkshireman it's difficult to find it, I have never seen one. I guess, emulating in this case is the key (and of course, no one prevents you from keeping a physical bugged copy)
Typical CEX. Not really into retro gaming and modern games they just give a pittance for and then over price, but what I do buy from them still is blu rays. A while back they had the first of the Abrams Star Trek films in steelbook for a decent price. Ordered it and got sent the non steelbook version which was even cheaper. When I contacted them they tried claiming it was a listing error and the price I paid was the price of the standard version. I had to point out they have the standard version listed and it isn't that price. After much arguing they finally admitted their mistake and gave me two options, send it back for a full refund or a partial refund and keep what I had. I went for the latter as sending back would have cost me as they would not pay postage. Unsurprisingly they put the price of the steelbook up afterwards, which is obviously the real reason they would not send it to me.
@caphowdy666 yeah they've done that sort of thing to a few others on here. Donald mackerel had ordered some games, cex cancelled the order even though the game was in stock and when he went to reorder the game it had gone up in price. I think this sort of way they do business is disgusting considering if you order something and get the order confirmed email, surely there's a legality to that being a "contract"? I'm not legal minded but it's seems off to me.
@@AnotherNormalYorkshireman The company has some seriously shady business practices. Buying phones from people saying they are grade B and offering less money, then sell them as grade A is just one thing I have seen them do. Hell, about 12 years or so ago I got a brand new phone as part of an upgrade but as it was the same model I already owned I took it to CEX to trade for blu rays and games. The phone had never even been out of the box and they told me it was grade B. Never bothered trading tech with them since. Sold it on eBay for twice the price they offered. Retro games has to be one of the biggest risks buying from them I would guess.
@caphowdy666 I bought tombi 2 from them a few weeks ago. It was in shockingly bad condition, it cost £120 by the way. I have a short of it on my page somewhere. The disc was scratched really badly, the manual was a mess and the case was in pieces. I got my money back but it definitely soured my experiences with them. I ordered a game months ago that they sent me wrong 3 times and I had to take it back, then this recent overblood issue. I just don't get how they mess up as its not hard to read and pack correct items.
@@AnotherNormalYorkshireman Part of the biggest problem is some of the stores are franchises so you will get different treatment depending on the store. When you order, your items can come from stores all over the country, which is why they have the ridiculous postage costs and you cannot get a combined cost. I think if you deal with a corporate owned store you will get better service, but the franchise owners as with many franchise businesses will do anything to make money. Sadly, unless you are picking up in person, you have no idea which store the items come from. I was going to order a bunch of blu rays a few months ago that came to something like £120, but they were all fairly cheap. The postage was around £50. I asked why they do not offer combined postage on bigger price sales, and they just give you the same cut and paste answers they give on all their socials. There is a reason that you cannot get hold of a phone number for individual stores, and that is because they really want to make things as difficult as possible when it comes to customer complaints, and feel that if you make it hard to contact people, you will just give up instead.
@caphowdy666 yep. The crappy customer service is definitely accurate. The reason for the postage situation from what I was told by an area manager is that certain youtubers would place large orders for "cex lottery" content then take them all back to a single store for refunds. Which then cost them more to have to send each item back to the stores. No idea if that's genuine or not but it seems reasonable.
