Longest Train Of The Year On This Short Line + Canadian Pacific Ry Steam Train In Iowa, Empress 2816

- Short Line Railroad Cincinnati Eastern Railroad Getting Busy On The Peavine Line. 2 Locomotives Working Hard To Move The Longest Train Of The Year So Far. This Is A Rock Train With Storage Cars, Grain Cars & Orange Gondolas. Includes Epic Shot Of Canadian Pacific Railway Steam Train On Tight Curves Next To Flooded Mississippi River In Iowa. The Empress Steam Locomotive Is On Its Way Back To Canada After Running All The Way To Mexico And Setting Distance Records. I chased the steam train from Davenport, Iowa almost to Minnesota. Then I drove through Wisconsin and filmed trains in a couple of towns in Illinois that I have never visited.
I was at home working on an Iowa train video when I heard the CCET train on my scanner say that they were entering Sardinia. The new owners took over just two days earlier so I decided to film the first eastbound train under new ownership. I caught up to the train as it was leaving Sardinia.
The first scene is Macon, Ohio. The train is cresting the slight grade and crossing the highway railroad crossing with the old N&W color position lights near the road. This train is one of the longest ever on this line under CCET and I decided to chase it to film the other side also.
The next scene is on the western edge of Winchester, Ohio. The train is coming under Rt32 and crossing the cross buck protected railroad crossing on Dorsey Road. Right after it passed me the train did some switching in Winchester for the grain elevator.
Next we see the Canadian Pacific Railway steam train on its way back to Canada after touring their rails in Mexico. The steam engine is 94 years old and is an oil burner. I have a lot of video of it so keep checking my channel because I will post the videos as soon as I can. Listen to the steam locomotive as it blows the whistle for the railroad crossing in Buena Vista, Iowa. To me it sounds like something in the movie Jurassic Park.

Now, JT as long as you’ve been filming trains, you know that Freddy don’t blink until it gets dark it does not blink during the day. lol with this new company, take over that railroad that they will spend some money on the tracks and put some new ties down and some new ballast and re-tamp and a line that track so those trains can run faster and they most probably could make their round-trip in one day instead of running 10 to 15 miles an hour on that bad track. And I bet the engineer and conductor hopes that they fix the air conditioners and those locomotives because I’m here to tell you those babies are hot during the summer without air conditioners, and I see they finally turned that SD-40 around so they can run cab forward both ways but anyway, my friend another great video and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and happy Fourth of July to you

CCET 3512 P3 horn display @1:49 was extraordinary!! Good look at that train's SOO covered hopper @9:27. Hopefully the new CCET owner will address the weed growth in between the rails, visible in many of your videos.👍👍

This Cincinnati Eastern train was a long empty train. If the covered hopper cars, the rock hoppers, and the gondola cars on the train were loaded, I wonder if Cincinnati Eastern Railroad would have had to use all their available locomotives to move this train over the Williamsburg Hill. That was a lot of "flat" cars going into storage at the eastern end of the Cincinnati Eastern. Thank you for adding the short video of CPKC #2816 coming around that curve in Iowa. Now that two class I railroads are putting an iconic steam locomotive on tour, I wonder how many more will follow suit. NS needs to revive the steam program and put the 611 on tour.

I count 51 cars on ur train . Next time you are with Jason, have him check on the railroad that hauls iron ore in Marquette and maybe you can see them loading a ore ship!!!!!!!!!!

Have Jason find out if the Lake Superior & Ishpeming railroad is still loading the ore dock in Marquette, MI. If they are u can get 2 for 1 meaning u might be able 2 see them load an iron ore carrying ship.

I know I'm not the brightest signal on the mainline, but for the life of me, I cannot figure out why CET shuffles those 'storage' classified flatbeds (the stripped down auto racks) around so much.
Is it that there's not enough siding space?
From an uneducated onlooker such as myself, it looks like it's just a waste of fuel (more weight/more cars = more fuel consumed) since I can't recall ever seeing any freight on any of those flatcars. I'm NOT being critical or anything, just sincerely curious.

There is just something about being back home where everything is familiar. That certainly was a CCET mega train with 51 cars and with all those tie gons the lumber yard is having a banner year. You mentioned new owners this week. Is it still going to be localized ownership or will they be part of a short line Consortium? Trusting that most of the employees will stay it's another important step for its future and success. A safe and Happy 4th of July to all
