Bump In The Night is another fantastic RL that you can craft if you were able to get the 5 patterns last year during Season of the Haunted and beyond. Personally, I would say Hothead and Blowout are the two RLs newer players should focus on. Whether you prefer PvE or PvP, you can focus both of these weapons in the Tower and get access to some tremendous perk combinations as you outlined in the video.
Frames are definitely bit but but honestly the primary reason I didn't outline on that point really is because of players that are lacking perks are already missing insane amounts of damage anyway and at least getting a launcher that can do some decent damage is a good start. But in the future I will for sure touch on frames a little more.
@@alphaskys0129 Makes no Sense to me, you say vorpal is "extremely good" because of a 10% dmg buff and then u recommend crafting a Rocket that does 20% less than adaptives or aggressives.

Yeah I probably should have but didn't purely because I didn't want to info dump onto new players too badly plus in the current state of d2 it still does good enough dps
@@alphaskys0129 If you’re gonna make vids like this there’s no such thing as an info dump. That info was important enough to not leave out. If you can mention ensemble and impulse (both bad perks on rockets) I think you can fit that in
Like there’s no inherent problem in telling people Palmyra is a good rocket to start off with, but leaving that info out makes it seem like there’s no downsides to using it
@Jake Fielder it's technically 10% less damage to base rockets as the frame that blowout uses actually has 10% increased. So when comparing those two yeah it's 20% less by default but if people just don't have the time to farm godrolls of those launchers palmyra is just a last resort.
Red Herring is actually a super underrated choice that’s also craftable. It’s an adaptive frame so it doesn’t do reduced damage, and you can get field prep and frenzy or lasting. Palmyra is only better with izanagi due to alh.
Vorpal weapon is currently bugged. If you switch from your rocket to a different weapon that doesn't have vorpal before the rocket hits the target and explodes, you will not get the 10% damage bonus. This will happen lots if you are using ALH. Lots of people want demo on their rocket launchers right now but just remember that this is mostly because of starfire protocol and bungie is nerfing it next season (it will take 4x longer to get your grenade charge back after the nerf according to leaks). After that happens, demo on rocket launchers will be far less desirable since there will be no way to spam grenades over an extended period of time. I personally wouldn't want to farm for something that is only going to be useful for the next month.
Yeah I have a god roll blow out and I don’t play a lot of pvp but another option that’s a lot easier to get is the two tailed fox, it’s exotic but with the catalyst ( which is easy to get ) literally from any playlist activity, it puts in a lot of work and stuns champions with a couple of rockets if needed. It’s one downfall is very slow reload but marksmen dodge hunter grapple etc makes it less painful.
Lmaooo as soon as these people see that you don't have many subs, they're trying to give you advice 😂😂😂 Great video. I think the editing and content is great
This is great. I came back from a 4 month break and asked my clan what the heavy dps meta is and not one knew. I was taken back by the answer. One of them said osteo and a machine gun with reconstruction. He was doing by far the most dps but most of these guys are stuck on same loadouts for years.
@@swarlly Yup. That's why I have frenzy on mine. Though it really only matters in dungeon/raid boss encounters early on when damage matters, or master runs.
I mean, it's easy to get as a hold-over, but I wouldn't recommend Palmyra over any other option as anything other than a temporary choice. The Agressive and Adaptive frames intrinsically deal enough extra damage for it to matter. I would advise people to go all out on farming for the Blowout, with the addendum that you should play as much Iron Banner as possible to focus either a Demo or Field Prep, Lasting Impression roll.
@@MrNuclearz I mean not gonna lie it was definitely a tough hit but people also dont want to admit that if you have 1 or 2 people on your team using it it isnt really that big of a deal. So many gatekeepers nowadays.
How does Frenzy compare to some of the perks you mentioned? Thanks for informative video btw, it was really helpful for knowing what to look for on rocket launchers.
If you wanna use auto loading rockets best pair it with witherhoard as it also has auto loading so you can shoot witherhoard or rocket switch to witch ever weapon you havent shot with yet (rocket or witherhoard) then use primary and shoot till you hear your guns reloaded and repeat. You can also use Izanagis if you want, also since nades are also kinda crack you can spam nades in the downtime.
Code deullo and hothead are my favorites. Got fp and vw on hothead and fp and cluster on the deullo. The deullo puts off a lovely show when I got a gally homie making it even more crazy. Deullo will always be my #1 because it was the launcher that turned me onto using them.
Great guide! I think the background music is a little too loud and distracting though so may be worth noting for future vids. Really great info, thank you!
This question has nothing to do with the video, but do you happen to know if the Riptide still drops from crucible, i never obtained one so im unable to Focus it, and even though i played a bunch of pvp it still didnt drop yet. I really hate destiny pvp so it would be cool to know if in waisting my time or if im just unlucky.
It's very good I just don't anticipate many new players having izanagis yet. I'll do a video in the future talking more about the damage ceiling for rockets. :)
try and grind for an autoloading hothead with explosive light or hezen with lasting impression, palmryas frame does less damage than adaptives and aggressives
Honestly I advise people to pick a rocket to go for based on what they like to do in the game. If you really hate PvP, maybe just farm for Hothead, or if you don’t mind short and intense grinds, you might want to go for Roar of the Bear in IB. If you are someone who likes to do all the ritual activities, it might be better to go for hothead if you don’t already have a good Riptide. If you’re new to raiding and want more experience, you can get that from farming Hezen Vengeance. If you’re short on time and happen to have Two Tailed Fox in your vault, a trip to Shuro Chi might really be all you need.
Definitely prioritize what you want buy realistically if you don't have a ton of materials or time taking the alternative route would still be a recommended.
I farmed nfs last week and did like 2 vanguard resets. I got Field Prep/Explosive Light, Demo/Clown, Demo/Explosive light, autoloading/explosive light, not a single one of those rolled with impact casing. sadge
Well if it makes you feel any better impact casing isn't really that much better. It grants 10% impact damage but thats actually only a 2.2% increase in total damage before other damage perks anyway.
Just a heads up on vorpal rockets. You don't get the damage bonus unless you have the rocket launcher out as it hits the enemy, so it's bad for swapping builds
@AlphaSkys yeah, not sure if it's always been that way or not. But definitely has been since witch queen if I remember. It's why lots of people now recommend frenzy. Also the hakke precision frames do 10% less damage as of a couple seasons ago. Which isn't huge amounts but adds up compared to the aggressive frames
@Trousersnske yeah I'm pretty sure frenzy just does more damage outright too. And the actual perk criteria is super easy to proc and can proc even when the weapon is stowed. They kinda butchered vorpal weapon.
You forgot heretic aggressive frame that’s arc from altar of sorrows on the moon, you can get demo and lasting impression with impact casing, I got a demo/cluster roll
i have a vorpal impulse roar of the bear, my mates say not to use it and get a hothead instead but i dont have the time to grind for a new weapon, is my current rocket bad
In the current state of d2 you can get by with just about anything currently. In the future when we inevitably get harder content you unfortunately will need a better launcher. Blowout is best option to farm in my opinion but hothead is still good. Hezen vengeance from vault of glass is still a viable option.
Is field prep with explosive light good I been farming for this week because of the bonus rank and i got like 20 hothead but no demo , explosive nor field prep and clown
Anybody else kinda loose their shit cuz they thought a ghost baby was in their room and didn't expect it to be coming from the destiny video??... No?? Just me.... 😐
If I reset my rank a bunch in vanguard, will I still get the extra perks in the perk slot for hothead or will that not happen because they are in the legacy tab?
Not sure if it's intended or a bug but as it currently stands no matter how many times you reset you won't get any additional perks for hothead even after resets.
I'm not too sure? I haven't tested it personally but really there are too many other damage perks that are just better so it isn't a huge issue if it isn't working.
Hothead is the best rocket launcher in the game and its not even a debate. For one its easily farmable as well you just need 2 engrams you can get rolls like auto loading+explosive, auto loading+lasting impression, demo+explosive, demo+lasting and my personal favorite field prep+clown
Ampulse amplifier ITS really bad from a really optimal dps also a really good advise ITS autoloading with another special, thatll give you huge chunks of dps, demo Rockets mainly aré right now for Starfire warlocks, but auto loading ITS an sss perk dont sleep on it
no impulse is very good its underrated, +10 reload speed and 0.8x reload animation is, and extra velocity aswell, it's very similar to field prep and is amazing to pair with Clown Cartridge.
@@alphaskys0129 thanks, I just got back to playing destiny been since Garden, I have no dps launchers currently farming VG engrams for hothead but I need 5 so taking a little.
Since every player has access to izanagi and witherhoard everyone should be going for auto loading since in solo or group play, respectively, those 2 weapons give you the best damage possible --- used in conjunction with rockets Save for the case you are on Solar Warlock
I would definitely recommend them for more situational type content but the primary reason I didn't was to not overwhelm new players with also trying to explain optimal dps rotations and just keep it simple. Sure they provide great dps but in current d2 it isn't needed.
This is the weirdest choice of music for this video. You didn't mention that different frames to various amounts of damage. Precision frames do less damage than others, for example.
„Auto loading holster struggling in longer dps phases in raids and dungeons“ ????? That’s just incorrect, auto loading holster begins to shine in longer dps phases where u are trying to maximize your total damage by using a special while ur rocket is reloading. Alh is by far the best perk overall on a rocket (unless u are utilizing clown cartridge), but it also requires some sort of skill to utilize, since u can’t just stand there and braindead spam ur rocket.
It can be good for those but this video is directed towards newer players who may not have the specific specials in question or have time to practice optimal DPS rotations. Autoloading is good but even in modern meta theres a very good reason most top players go with other perks for DPS phases now anyway.
@@alphaskys0129 smh. Show me those top players, that are not utilizing alh in a dps rotation, where is matters. As someone myself that is competing for placements in day ones and doing lowmans. I can tell u that we value alh a lot (only demo is currently better, if u are a starfire warlock). If top players don’t utilize alh, I’m telling u, with 100% certainty, they are just lazy. I do aswell don’t use my alh rocket launcher in regular raids, where I know from the start, that we won’t be able to one-phase a boss. But on contest raids/master raids or lowmans, where u need to hit max dps (exclude RoN here, since there wasn’t a single dps Check in that raid) every single top player would tell u, that a rocket with alh in combination with a special is the best thing u can do. And yes, if the video is targeted for newer players, you should have still mentioned that the skill ceiling is higher for an alh rocket, but also its reward is higher. There are indeed newer players that are willing to learn good damage rotations. And a lot of the good dps specials are fairly easy to get (I can’t think of a single unobtainable one rn)
Most relevant low man content and day 1s were using demo/field prep with explosive :/ not saying auto loading isn't good saying for new players that don't know how to weapon swap for dps isn't new player friendly. Not bad lol.
@Nico489 and maybe it's a situational thing. I'm a dad of destiny so I don't get a TON of time to play not like other players. But the primary purpose if the video is to be a starting line for newer players not the finish. I want the players that watch this to start clearing find groups to play with and if they commit to the game more and invest that time then they now are more involved with a community that can teach that to them directly. And sure mindlessly blasting rockets over and over isn't flashy or the absolute best dps possible but it gets the job done and current raid content cleared and that's what I'm trying to implement. If I'm able to make more in depth videos about absolute PEAK dps in the future I'll definitely make sure to talk about auto loading more but with my current target audience being individuals that probably don't have a launcher or a weapon like izzis nor a catalyst for izzis and don't have the time to get everything I don't feel like covering something that isn't actually all that necessary at the current moment in the game. I do appreciate the insight though and hope you have a good evening!
@@alphaskys0129 whatever. Guess you won’t change your opinion on that. Just saying that both worlds first team and saltagreppos team used izi or cloudstrike rocket for both 3rd and boss encounter. Also currently the lowman strat for most raids (if u don’t play warlocks) is to pair an alh hothead with either a gl/fusion or izi, depending on the boss. But also if u plan on doing another video on rls, I suggest u mention the archetype of rockets. U mentioned the palmyra-b, which when wq came out was considered the best rocket launcher in the game. But since got changed is now dealing 20% less damage than a hothead or any other adaptive/aggressive frame rl. Not many people using this rocket launcher anymore since even an average hothead/blowout outdps that thing by a lot (unless u need the intrinsic tracking I advise against using it, if u literally own any other okayish adaptive/aggressive frame). Anyways have a good night aswell
Just wanted to pin a comment here to recommend one last perk for you guys! If you're a dad of destiny like me and have zero time to grind frenzy is a GREAT option since it gives damage AND reload all in one perk! Edit: Several people have pointed out that the palmyra b does less damage than other rocket launcher frames as they were nerfed in WQ. Yes I'm aware they were nerfed I just recommend the palmyra for people that have next to no time to spend on farming launchers so they at least have something to get into raids with.
Basically : FP + Clown for bursting all ur rockets as fast as possible (very good on any class and build) ALH + EL for izanagi's/high burst special weapon swap Demo + EL for starfire/high recharge grenade build And just don't use palmyra it's just bad in dmg, yeah it's easy to get and craftable, but just playing some strikes or pvp can reward u with the best rockets in the game (hothead/blow out)
Well the first 2:30 is to let people know this video is more directed towards either newer or returning players. I'll add timestamps in the future but to be fair just because it's not useful to you doesn't mean it isn't to other people.

That's the roll I'm trying to get my hands on lol
This is great. I came back from a 4 month break and asked my clan what the heavy dps meta is and not one knew. I was taken back by the answer. One of them said osteo and a machine gun with reconstruction. He was doing by far the most dps but most of these guys are stuck on same loadouts for years.
Time to find a new clan 😂
@@fgfallout right!
Ain’t no way bro thinks a heavy machine gun is a dps meta 💀
Gonna sub the video was helpful
As far as launchers that can be crafted, I think bump in the night is great as well.
It's fantastic only reason I didn't mention it is there's no way to farm it right now
Downside is if someone else is running chill clip too you are losing out on damage between the two of you.
For sure I just recommend Palmyra if they just don't have the time.
What they did to Palmyra was a crime against humanity.
@@MrNuclearz I mean not gonna lie it was definitely a tough hit but people also dont want to admit that if you have 1 or 2 people on your team using it it isnt really that big of a deal. So many gatekeepers nowadays.
@AlphaSkys you didnt mention how palmyra does like 30% less damage
How does Frenzy compare to some of the perks you mentioned? Thanks for informative video btw, it was really helpful for knowing what to look for on rocket launchers.
Frenzy is a really good choice and it's very easy to proc! I would say explosive light is stronger but frenzy is more consistent.
I actually have a code duello and I'm genuinely sad the only way to farm it now is dares. It's design is just so damn clean.
@AlphaSkys a big shame too.
Banshee 44 might be able to show up with it some day as well. Who knows!
Great guide! I think the background music is a little too loud and distracting though so may be worth noting for future vids. Really great info, thank you!
I thought the music was dope
@@LaMaquina17 same, but I was also vibing to the music more than I was actually playing attention to the video
This question has nothing to do with the video, but do you happen to know if the Riptide still drops from crucible, i never obtained one so im unable to Focus it, and even though i played a bunch of pvp it still didnt drop yet. I really hate destiny pvp so it would be cool to know if in waisting my time or if im just unlucky.
ten out of ten because of the luigi's mansion music
Thanks for the vid. Which titan build r u using?
I have a video posted with dim link
very good video my friend thanks!!!!
For something like a raid, I use a enhanced auto loading Palmara-B with Izanagi’s Burden. It works wonders IMO.
It's very good I just don't anticipate many new players having izanagis yet. I'll do a video in the future talking more about the damage ceiling for rockets. :)
palmyra is worse than most other rockets though
@@lmotekh it is but it's still not terrible
try and grind for an autoloading hothead with explosive light or hezen with lasting impression, palmryas frame does less damage than adaptives and aggressives
the halloween music in the background xD
I can't help it I love luigis mansion :D
@@alphaskys0129 I’m also used to my gf who has lots of RNG bc she got field prep/clown after 4 rolls of hothead lol
Is a field prep+frenzy “Bump in the night” good?
I don’t have a good hothead yet but I can craft a bump in the night right now.
Yes that one's good only reason I didn't mention it in the video is you can't obtain the craftable version in the current season
Nice! Keep in mind that, the Palmyra has a 0.9 damage multiplier ;)
Thank you!! This answered a very important question of mine. Which RL does the most damage, precision, adaptive or aggressive frame.
great vid
Just a heads up on vorpal rockets. You don't get the damage bonus unless you have the rocket launcher out as it hits the enemy, so it's bad for swapping builds
That's actually very interesting I didn't know that!
@AlphaSkys true, I'm a big fan of frenzy especially on heavy weapons
You forgot heretic aggressive frame that’s arc from altar of sorrows on the moon, you can get demo and lasting impression with impact casing, I got a demo/cluster roll
For that solar titan you are using in the intro. Recraft that SMG with grave robber + incandescent. It works super well with baby hammer.
i have a vorpal impulse roar of the bear, my mates say not to use it and get a hothead instead but i dont have the time to grind for a new weapon, is my current rocket bad
In the current state of d2 you can get by with just about anything currently. In the future when we inevitably get harder content you unfortunately will need a better launcher. Blowout is best option to farm in my opinion but hothead is still good. Hezen vengeance from vault of glass is still a viable option.
I’ve been holding on to a tracking/cluster for years now. Am I wrong?
Tracking is good but cluster isn't great and it actually gets worse the more blast radius your launcher has.
What is this song in the background?
Good video. I'll help ya. Subbed
Is field prep with explosive light good I been farming for this week because of the bonus rank and i got like 20 hothead but no demo , explosive nor field prep and clown
Extremely good
Impact casing is what you want in mag otherwise max out your velocity stat for best dps
Anybody else kinda loose their shit cuz they thought a ghost baby was in their room and didn't expect it to be coming from the destiny video??...
No?? Just me.... 😐
I hear that ghost baby every day lmfao
Sweet I got demolitionist and vorpal
I have a bump in the night just dont know if its good it has steady hands and chill clip
It's decent. But collect a few to get the craftable if you want it. You can demolitionist with either chill clip or frenzy
@@alphaskys0129 alright appreciate it
If I reset my rank a bunch in vanguard, will I still get the extra perks in the perk slot for hothead or will that not happen because they are in the legacy tab?
Not sure if it's intended or a bug but as it currently stands no matter how many times you reset you won't get any additional perks for hothead even after resets.
Saw somewhere that vorpal on rockets don’t proc, is this true ?
I'm not too sure? I haven't tested it personally but really there are too many other damage perks that are just better so it isn't a huge issue if it isn't working.
Can you give me link to the Solar Titan build ,you are using in the video?
I actually plan on making a video on it tonight so just keep on the lookout for it! :)
@@alphaskys0129 Thank you. I will be waiting for it.
@Miroslav Mavrodiev well maybe my wife is potentially going into labor so we will see LMFAO
Hothead is the best rocket launcher in the game and its not even a debate. For one its easily farmable as well you just need 2 engrams you can get rolls like auto loading+explosive, auto loading+lasting impression, demo+explosive, demo+lasting and my personal favorite field prep+clown
Ampulse amplifier ITS really bad from a really optimal dps also a really good advise ITS autoloading with another special, thatll give you huge chunks of dps, demo Rockets mainly aré right now for Starfire warlocks, but auto loading ITS an sss perk dont sleep on it
no impulse is very good its underrated, +10 reload speed and 0.8x reload animation is, and extra velocity aswell, it's very similar to field prep and is amazing to pair with Clown Cartridge.
my guy litterally just disregarded the best damage in the game besides nade spam at 4:01
You forgot bump in the night chill clip
Didn't include it purely because newer players don't have access to the launcher saddly
People sleep on red herring for DPS. It has proven to be top 3. Field prep frenzy or lasting impression can’t put out top DPS.
I actually haven't used red herring I'll give it a try!
What about the ascendency rocket launcher
It would work just can't get enhanced perks.
@@alphaskys0129 thanks, I just got back to playing destiny been since Garden, I have no dps launchers currently farming VG engrams for hothead but I need 5 so taking a little.
@@slimjimmy_v I'd HIGHLY recommend going for blowout instead but if you want hothead I don't blame you either.
@@alphaskys0129 is that the crucible one ? Same as hothead Or better? And thanks for helping me
@Slimjimmy it's a little worse but not that different it only costs 1 engram per focus
Since every player has access to izanagi and witherhoard everyone should be going for auto loading since in solo or group play, respectively, those 2 weapons give you the best damage possible --- used in conjunction with rockets
Save for the case you are on Solar Warlock
I would definitely recommend them for more situational type content but the primary reason I didn't was to not overwhelm new players with also trying to explain optimal dps rotations and just keep it simple. Sure they provide great dps but in current d2 it isn't needed.
Vault space
This is the weirdest choice of music for this video.
You didn't mention that different frames to various amounts of damage. Precision frames do less damage than others, for example.
I just choose music from other games I love. And it's mentioned in a pinned comment as I didn't touch on it specifically in the video.
Is that your kid at 4:36?
Yeah sorry lol
Basically :
FP + Clown for bursting all ur rockets as fast as possible (very good on any class and build)
ALH + EL for izanagi's/high burst special weapon swap
Demo + EL for starfire/high recharge grenade build
And just don't use palmyra it's just bad in dmg, yeah it's easy to get and craftable, but just playing some strikes or pvp can reward u with the best rockets in the game (hothead/blow out)
