Dear Fearless Leader, please check your facts on the dates concerning the buses. Although I'm not an expert in Seattle transit history, I am an expert on myself and where I was on a given date. I personally recorded this video and I can most assuredly state that I have only been in Seattle once in my entire life, and that was from May 19-24, 1991. I just re-checked my handwritten journal from 1991 and read all kinds of details about being in Seattle on those days. I was not in Seattle ever again - not in 2001 or any other year. Since I am the one who recorded the video, the one fact I can assert is the date when it was recorded. Furthermore, you see the date stamp on the video showing May 22, 1991. I recorded it on a Panasonic PV-320 camcorder purchased in 1987. The camera stopped recording tapes in 1992 but I kept it for sentimental reasons. I just plugged it in to verify that its date stamps available are 1.1.1986 - 12.31.1999. As you know, video cameras don't offer retroactive date stamps prior to their manufacture. In 2001 I was shooting with a VHS-C camcorder purchased in 1998. Maybe it might have shown 1997 or even 1996 date if I bought one of the older models for sale in 1998. But If I took that 1998 camera to Seattle in 2001, there was no way that I could make it stamp a 1991 date on the screen even if I wanted to. I assure you that time images on the screen were recorded on exactly the date specified. It might demand that you do some more research to interpret why the bus in the video is different from the rounded buses you refer to. Perhaps the type of bus shown here was put in service earlier than you think. Or perhaps what you are seeing was not something in regular service system-wide but rather part of a smaller order that came ahead of a system-wide change. There might have been an overlap when rounded buses still ran alongside the equipment shown here, and we might both be correct. Regardless, some of the best information comes from research done to resolve discrepancies. For my part, I can attest to the 1991 date - the rest of the resolution of the mystery I will put in your hands. Or perhaps another viewer wants to shed light on this mystery? Not really. The rails weren't properly insulated, and had to be ripped out and replaced when the tunnel was renovated for light rail.
