It is such a pleasure to watch experts define their mission (low vacuum on #2) then set about dismantling the top end with zero wasted motion or words. Sure enough, the problem is as they suspected, and their methodical work method ensures that putting the engine back together will be a straightforward process. It takes a lot of years and a steady temperament to get to this level.

I remember this episode with every detail. Especially towards the end.... It was the first time in my life that the emotional factor striked on a TV show

It has taken me years to get a mechanic who uses my rule of never mixing bolts or camshaft caps when handling an engine. Wonderful team

We need more of this in the show itself, proper in-depth interesting mechanical stuff. No offence to Tim, but the contrived “give me a deal on the parts” pieces aren’t what I tune in for.

The lampredi twincams (both 8v & 16v) all have low readings (near zero) on oil pressure, on tick-over. The actual internal pressure is usually ok. No worries
Also - it’s really a Fiat engine. Lancia hadn’t made an engine since early 60’s before Fiat bought them in ’69.

    One day in the future
They should make a retro version of it, keeping close to its original shapes

Fiat 20v turbo engine In the fiat coupe is alot tighter to do a timing belt on with engine In the car.....

It is possible, but I always take the engine out

@@timdegroot4159 i know its possible.... I have done several over the years. The tensioner is the tightest bit in my opinion.. getting it off the stud. I guess everyone has their preferred way... but unless it needed a clutch too I'm not sure I could be bothered to pull engine out just for cam belt.... the 16v integrale is spacious by comparison though. Even with AC fitted as my delta has.
