    There's something about your mannerisms combined with your upbeat attitude and the way you explain things that makes me believe in myself again. I'm 8 years out from my stroke and I'm on a better road to recovery thanks to you and your methods. Thank you.

      @johnspisak, I can't tell you what joy your words brought to my heart. I'm so, so happy to hear that your belief in yourself is being restored. Mindset is such a huge part of a recovery, but it's not always easy to be positive. I'm so grateful to have played any role in that. You keep doing what you're doing. I know you got this! :)

    Thank you Elise. I had a bad stroke in October and I was 4 months in hospital. God himself saved me and I depend on Him to get better. My NHS physio has stopped so I am grateful for all your ideas. Recovery is slow but each baby step is reason to celibrate. I am an impatient patient... 😀

    I just joined this group and I love how you explain and demonstrate in such a calming voice. I’ve had a small stroke 2 months. I push myself but find how much it hurts me when i do. Typically how long does the tingling, burning and numbness last? So all these stretching exercises should help speed my recovery. Thank you in advance 😊

    Many thanks for the useful exercises. I was doing some of these, as I had an existing shoulder injury. Thanks again, you have a very pleasant disposition, which helps greatly. Some of the videos I've seen are either too patronising or they have forgotten they have left the Marines, you pitch the information just right. Hope you had a great Christmas and have a wonderful New year. PEACE AND LOVE TO EVERYONE ❤❤.

      Hi Frank! The exercises vary person to person, and depend on whether you have pain or any underlying shoulder issues. Repetition is key with stroke recovery. So do what you can but back off if pain becomes an issues. Consult with a doctor or therapist if you can for more specifics!

    • @PostStrokeOrg
      @PostStrokeOrg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi @Kennethscarborough! Thanks so much for commenting. It's hard for me to say without personally working with you and seeing what you're going through. Generally, we know that stroke recovery tends to take a long time. Our brains have to work really hard to reconnect with our body after an injury. It takes lots and lots and lots of repetition. I would say that if it's something you're worried about, make sure you bring it up to your doctor at your next appointment!

      @PostStrokeOrg  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey there! I'm sorry that you're having trouble with those exercise. It's still worth doing them even if you can't produce the movement. The goal with these exercises isn't just to produce movement but to start helping the brain reconnect to the body! I often tell survivors, "it's not an arm thing, it's a brain thing."

      @ThelPHONE39 Absolutely! If you want to learn more about what spasticity actually is, check out this video I made (th-cam.com/video/ZgS3-lu6_4w/w-d-xo.html). And you can go through this video (th-cam.com/video/_ELCjpovYTk/w-d-xo.html) to do some daily stretches for upper body spasticity. There's good evidence in the literature that a daily stretching routine can be helpful for managing spasticity! I'm getting ready to work on a video for lower body stretching as well. • @PostStrokeOrg
      @PostStrokeOrg  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @asubodhapte, This is a good question! This may or may not be the right answer to your question, as I haven't worked with you directly. It may be that you are experiencing spasticity. This is high muscle tone that causes constant contractions of the muscles due to a disruption in the way the brain talks to the muscles. I'd recommend reaching out to your physician about this issue!
