    One thing I want to see in the next movie is Peter Pan - first in Neverland, then in Auradon, then in Wonderland. Different brands of mischief, different worlds, three different kinds of fun he can have. I think he'd get along well with Red at least.

    Ending felt a little rushed (wondering if this story would be better as a miniseries) but I can't say they didn't leave us wanting more and wanting to know when the fifth movie will a) be announced and b) be released. Interesting to see who's going to be the next villain.

    12:59 People criticise Cinderella for staying and just being when she could have run away or could have stood up for herself but.......sometimes when you fight back against your attackers it makes it worse not better (and how much confidence can you have to stand up to them when you're verbally attacked and diminished everyday?) and where is she supposed to go if she leaves? With no money of her own, no other relatives, no job and no one to recommend her, where is she supposed to go?

    14:22 Where my brain went after seeing this:
    - Ella and Red are somehow sent back into that future
    - Ella and Red manage to grab Charming and escape
    - They get Chad because they know The Queen of Hearts will be after all of them (and maybe Dizzy as well).
    - They manage to find a safe house good enough distance away so that they can take the time to stay and work out a new plan and to just catch their breath.
    - Charming is so grief stricken that he can hardly get out of bed.
    - Chloe is panicking but trying not to show it because of what happened to Cinderella and how she's seeing her dad now, so she's trying to distract herself by doing just about everything around the place (keeping it clean, cooking, finding something to keep her active when it's obvious to everyone that she's on the breaking point).
    - Red is mostly watching, tries to give some advice when she can but it mostly falls on deaf ears and either knows on instinct not to push it too much or was advised by Dizzy (who saw the original VKS go through grief when Carlos died) to give Chloe some time till she's ready to listen and to just be there for her.
    - Chad is also panicking through grief but mostly seems to just be acting the way he does whenever anything unpleasant or unexpected happened int he original franchise happened, telling other people to fix it, refusing to do things, complaining that he doesn't know how to do something and is basically just standing there and comes of as complaining and whining all the time.
    - Chloe finally snaps at Chad (I'm seeing it as a case of her asking him to help with the dishes, him saying he doesn't know how to or refusing to), telling him that she's sick of hearing him complain and whine all the time, that all his life he's gotten other people to do things for him, using either his title as Prince to get things for him or using his charm to get girls to do his homework for him while mocking others all the time, that she used to think he was cool because he seemed confident and then she found out about how he treated other students at Auraodon Prep and became embarrassed to be related to him and that that was one of the reasons she tried her best at everything was because she didn't want people to think that they were alike (and could fit in her worldview, she could theorise to herself 'Chad was mean to others so he got locked up that time') and that the only thing he's accomplished on his own was when he radically changed his hair (from the straighter brown in Descendants 1 to the curlier blonde in Descendants 2 and 3) and that the worst thing that had ever happened to him was when Audrey had locked him in the cupboard for a few hours after he had allied himself with her despite knowing that she was trying to hurt people. Finally telling him that their mum is dead and their dad is broken and that no one is going to fix anything for them this time so for once in his life he needs to stop thinking about himself and work - all said in what was supposed to be a forced/harsh whisper because she didn't want their dad to hear them argue but getting more upset every second till it sounds like she's nearly jsut stopping herself from yelling at him.
    - Things are quiet the next day - though we actually do see Chad trying to help out a bit (though not very good at it).
    - In the evening Chloe is sitting by herself, Chad comes out with some tea, saying that he knows that she likes hot chocolate better but he burned the milk on the stove but he was able too igure out how to make tea with a teabag, Chloe says it's got too much sugar in it and Chad said he heard that sugar was good when people are feeling a shock, and they end up talking more than they have in the last few years about everything, including Chloe telling him about how she went back in time and saw how difficult their mum's childhood was and how even though they knew the basic facts of her story they never stopped to really think about it.
    - the next morning they wake up to find charming making breakfast, knowing how Chad, Chloe and Dizzy like their eggs, being perhaps a little withdrawn around Red but still polite even though he can only guess how she likes her eggs (I'm torn between her never having tried eggs or not liking them but both ways a little flattered that even though she can guess how he feels about her mum and about herself he's still trying to be nice or at least civil to her), telling them a story about the time Cinderella taught him how to make coffee one early morning, and then apologising to his children for not being able to be there when they needed him.
    Haven't gotten much further than that, am guessing they'd ask him about exactly what happened that night that Bridget got pranked and why she's still hurting from it and making a plan from there but I haven't got anything concrete yet.

  • @zvimur

    Ehmm... cultural history question:
    When heard "Red Queen" what came to mind was the red chess Queen from "Through the Looking Glass".
    Always wondered was there a pieces colour switch from White vs Red to White vs Black?

    • @alexachipman
      @alexachipman  หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think they combined her - Red Queen + Queen of Hearts to bridge the stories. Red was because of cochenille dye (made of insects) that used to be popular in Britain.

    • @agenttheater5
      @agenttheater5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@alexachipman so it changed with the times or was it to demonstrate who was fashionable or richer - was the cochenille dye more expensive than black?
      Maybe if Bridget stays as Queen of Hearts, Red will become the red Queen in her own right, a 'build her own kingdom seperate from her mother's' (which could work in her being who she wants to be rather than who her mother wants her to be), wonder who'd be the white queen then?

    • @zvimur
      @zvimur หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@alexachipman read a possible quote of Lewis Carroll that same bridging of characters caused him to have the Chess Queen red. Both Queens very prone to fury.

    11:33 So all of this happened because Uliana wouldn't listen to instructions or warnings like "that's too many"......
    I know that sounds like "Your Fault' from 'Into the Woods'....but yes, this whole problem started because Uliana ate all the feathers inspire of being warned, and then got mad at Bridget because she'd made the cupcake even though she was the one who hadn't listened.

  • @agenttheater5

    14:49 They're teenagers, we can't expect them to think of everything. As we saw in the ending - I guess half of us were thinking "for crying out loud, just think!"

    • @alexachipman
      @alexachipman  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I actually said that in my reaction and edited it out because I realized I was way smarter as a teen than I am now, and therefore they should not get a pass for that!

  • @agenttheater5
    @agenttheater5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    12:09 And the tricky thing about that situation is - did she know what Bridget was going through, did she turn away or was she in a different part of the school when it happened so she didn't see anything until it was too late? Was she tricked into giving Bridget that cupcake? And also.....we see her life so we can't judge her for trying to stay in a moment when she's happy, when she's the one who's beautifully dressed and where no one is mocking her or belittling her or ordering her around, but we know if she did ignore Bridget she'd feel awful about it but would it be enough if Bridget was that humiliated and unhappy through the whole night - meaning would an "I'm sorry" be enough?
    And then going back to something someone else said: "1 bad thing happened to Bridget and she turned out horrible, bad things happened all the time to Ella and she turned out sweet" because then we're wondering "we don't know what Bridget's home life was like, just that Ella is her only friend", or "everyone has a breaking point and some have different breaking points than others", or "being publicly humiliated, constantly bullied and only having one friend who may or may not have betrayed/ignored her (since we don't know what happened yet) is awful and no one should have to go through it, but does that justifying throwing coups and executing people and making your daughter feeling being herself is a disappointment even if it's done with a 'tough love' justification and is 'tough love' actually a good reason for verbally diminishing your daughter like that"?
    Sorry I went on a little bit and I think I got lost, but do you get what I mean?
    Hoping in the next movie we'll actually go to the dance and see what happened the first time, what happened int he timeline Ella and Red created and what happens when they manage to fix it properly.

    The movie didn’t make sense to me. If Uliana and her friends were petrified by the spell on the book, obviously it means they did NOT pull the prank. Someone “GOOD” did it, because apparently only people that are good can open the book.
    The scene showed that uliana and her friends couldn’t have accessed the book even if they wanted to. So who actually pranked Bridget?

    I think that ending was not the end, the second one is going to bring the castlecoming and it's gonna reveal the real person who pranked her...look her dress is half red and half pink maybe she's not completely changed...there will be something wrong, they going to come back and fixed it somehow...I think there's more and this one in particular, it would be the part one

    • @bgroyal1714
      @bgroyal1714 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well yeah. They didn’t even reveal who did the prank. Because in BOTH timelines, Uliana and her friends would’ve been frozen. They can’t access the book because only “good” people can unlock the book. So obviously, they couldn’t have possibly done the prank.

    Thank you for having such a positive reaction to this movie 🙏❤️ I loved it, so much! 🥰💕
    I had the same idea of just keeping her away from the cupcakes, but then I realized there are only two of them, versus Uliana's larger gang, many of whom have magic. The VKs could easily keep Chloe and Red away from Bridget while they force feed her a cupcake.
    I do think telling Merlin might have worked, but it's also possible he might've just scolded them for messing with time travel and sent them back to their own time without allowing them to change anything.
    At any rate I'm definitely curious what the repercussions will turn out to be in the next movie! 🥰😍

    I quite enjoyed this film! The songs were bangers, the story was unique, and the actors were amazing in their respective roles!!! I found the ending anticlimactic, but I strongly believe that all that will be explored in the next film!!! Similar to the Back To The Future trilogy, there are some unanswered questions such as that if a VK can’t open the cookbook but an AK can. Also take into account that Morgie was the only one not frozen; it’s possible he found a way to break the gang out or manipulated Ella or Bridget or someone else to open the cookbook and still pulled a prank. We’ll just have to wait and see as only time will tell.
