I’m 70 years old, and don’t hit it far anymore. After my drive I’m still a long way from the green on most par fours, so my 5 wood is a great club to get it close on the second shot, and also great for par fives and long par three’s. The older I get, the more l love the five wood; keeps the game fun for me.
1. Putter - Can save a round w/ this (I have the Touon Las Vegas as well) 2. 4 Hybrid - Great off the tee and around greens 3. Gap Wedge - Reliable approach to plan for, Scoring club 4. Driver - Knowing my shape, takes one side of danger out of play 5. 7 iron - First CB in an MB/CB combo set for extra forgiveness, tee club on short par 4's and approach iron on long par 4's Honourable mention: 60 degree - Very versitile but wouldn't say I rely on it as much anymore
currently using a cobra f7 driver and love it, can’t bring my self to change and would only change it for another cobra driver, 1. Driver, 2. 7 iron, 3. Pitching wedge, 4.putter, 5. Gap wedge
Great thought provoking video! For me it’s Putter, Driver, Wedges, irons, fairway woods and driving iron. I’m using a Callaway Epic LS with an Oban shaft that I was fitted into. Not the longest but I’m finding myself in play more often than not. My putter is a Scotty Cameron Newport 2 same as the one you had which I can’t believe you changed from as you were on fire with that for a long time.
I play backwards. Putter is #1 as it is the most used club in a round by far. Then 56, 48 and 60 degree wedges, driver, then mid irons then long irons. I do play the Stealth Plus driver this year and love it! No loss in distance and fairway percentages increased by 20%
1. Putter - Toulon Las Vegas (I had it first!) 2. Driver - SIM2 MAX 10.5*, VA Slay 65g shaft 3. 7i - JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro, Project X LZ 5.5 4. LW - 60*/6 RTX Zipcore 5. 3H - SIM2 Rescue, VA Slay 85g shaft All fitted
My favourite clubs in my bag are; These are my 'go to' clubs that fill me with confidence and still enjoy using them. Been in my bag for a long time and have no intention of replacing them yet. Srixon ad 19° hybrid Srixon ad 25° hybrid Lynx mmi 48° wedge Taylormade Sldr driver (with 3 wood shaft) Odyssey White Ice #7 putter
1. Driver (upgraded from 915 to Stealth + went from around 280 to confidently 320-330 and much more consistency) 2. 3 wood ( lots of holes on my course that require less than a driver but enough to cut out trees. 3. putter 4. p wedge 5. 52
Current driver is a 2016 M2 now with a Small Batch Evenflow Riptide CB 6.0 shaft. Technological marvel. Bought it off eBay last spring in excellent condition w a senior stock shaft for $170, peanuts compared to todays $550 drivers. Was custom fit last year 2 times for shafts. 10.5 deg loft turned down 2 notches to 9 deg which opens the face 3° and basically eliminates my left hook and also lowers the spin by 300 RPMs. Love the feel and forgiveness is amazing. No need to change. Maybe losing a few yards distance and forgiveness but not worth spending $550 plus for a new driver. My 2nd most fav. club is my new odyssey eleven putter. Custom fit via SamPutt lab 2 months ago at Club Champion. They got my lie angle spot on at 62.5 degrees, length at 33 inches and SW at D1
Driver, 3-wood, putter, wedges. Middle clubs are rarely used - only when driver or 3 wood has not put me where a wanted to be. Driver was Ping G30, then I was offered (for £150 new) a Cobra F9 with a really flexible shaft. Improved performance at first but now gone back to standard senior shaft after fitting.
Interesting topic today, James. I would say, in order they are 54*, 9i, 8i, hybrid and putter. I don't always hit the driver straight (currently have a 2 way miss) but scoring clubs have been my saving grace lately. and to answer your initial question, my driver is 5 years old, was fitted, my Mizuno MP54s are purchased online (very close to my perfect specs) and wedges are updated every 2-3 years depending on use - this year with all the rain, not much golf has been played thus far. but the Scotty Cameron GoLo has been my best purchase over the past 10 years- Bar none !
My Driver was fitted 6 months ago. I love my Ping G le 2 driver. My 5 Hybrid is the favourite in the bag. My 2nd most important is tricky but between 9 Iron.Pitching Wedge or sand Wedge.
Most important clubs in my bag: 1. Driver - Ping G410 SFT with stiff Alta CB 65 gram shaft, Tour Velvet standard size grip. - I was fitted for this driver, and I can hit it really well. 2. 7 Iron - Callaway XR OS, steel Speedstep 80 regular flex shaft, Golf Pride CP2 midsize grip. - Iron Set self fitted, play the best I ever have with these irons. 3. Pitching Wedge - Callaway XR OS, specs match 7 Iron. 4. Putter - Scotty Cameron 2020 Special Select Newport, 35" shaft, standard SC Grip. - stock, not fitted 5. 56 Degree Wedge - Titleist Vokey SM56-10, Dynamic Golf steel shaft, Lamkin grip. - favorite out of the 4 Vokeys in my bag (50, 54, 56, 60), less likely to skull a ball with it than with my 60.
My Callaway MD3 60° is my saving grace. I use the Callaway X460 Driver from 2006, I’ll be testing some new drivers tomorrow, but there will need to be a descent difference for it to be changed.
For me it's 1. Driver (I'm not long and without a solid driving game several par 4s on my home course are at the edge of or even beyond reach). 2. Putter (though the make or model is less important, I tend to bring my own putting idiosyncrasies to any putter shape). 3. Pitching wedge (does a similar job for me as your 50° does for you, I use it anywhere from 100yds and in, often around the green too). 4. Hybrid (I struggle with fairway woods, getting into hybrids has made longer par 4s reachable). 5. 6-iron (my 150yd club, a frequent par 4 approach and par 3 distance for me). My driver is a Taylormade M2 2017 in a 55g s flex (my swing speed is modest but reg shafts just feel too whippy!). Nothing in my bag is fitted. That's a big failing and something that I really should correct.
Driver (cobra ltdx) 4 iron (taylormade rsi 1), 7 iron (taylormade rsi 1), 56° wedge (kirkland), putter (rife) I could get on with just tho clubs in my bag. Although the rest certainly help haha 😄
For me the most important club is the driver, it sets the tone for the round and I enjoy my golf far more when that behaves. 2nd putter a good day vs bad day 6 or 7 shot difference on the card. My 56 degree wedge is 3rd, I play off 13 so often find myself with a chance of par if I get up and down green side or 30/40 yards so like my putter a good day with that really makes a difference to my card. 4th is my 6 iron...... when I'm having a mare this club is like my old slippers just feels so comfortable, 165 yards carry if I ditch the ego can reach most p4s with 2 of these and a flick with a wedge. And 5th the 4 hybrid (probably situational at my home course) perfect distance for the long par 3 200-215 yards pin depending also leaves a great distance on 2 shorter par 4s and Sunday best drives can reach 2 of the par 5s with it.
1. Putter 2. PW 3. Driver 4. 56 5. 2 iron I use a new (this season bought last years model) mavrik head and I’m not fitted but I bought a 6.5 70g project x smoke shaft and it’s a cannon but that’s why the two iron made my top five cuz sometimes I want a little more rollout if there’s a downslope or a little less distance overall. I like your point about every club being important but this video is also important we all have tendencies and clubs we need to accommodate it.
Taylormade Stealth #1, PXG Gen 4 irons, gained 25 yards with LAGolf shafts. So much more fun with these’s shafts. Wedges new Sugar Daddy PXG’s just great around the greens. BGT shaft change on my putter, took away my small misses. Start line is so nice, dropped 4 points on my handy cap! Cheers
1.TM Stealth driver, hitting loads more fairways and good distance 2. Callaway MD4 54 deg, most shots from 75 yards in, round the greens, bunkers etc 3. TM Spider EX putter 4. Callaway Apex 21 gap wedge, great for 90-110 yard shots 5. Callaway Apex DCB 4 iron (matched to my Apex 21 iron set) very straight and forgiving if you need a 200 yard shot
As a 12 Hcap I use my putter the most followed by my driver on at least 14 holes. I use my Taylor Made R9 and I haven’t found anything more forgiving with the new drivers.
1) original red Taylormade Spider putter (rarely 3 putt) from new probably 5 years old. 2) Ping G410 2020 Driver, fitted. 3) TaylorMade RSI pitching wedge fitted about 6 years ago. 4) Taylormade RSI 5 iron, great recovery club, play it low, punch shots and can shape a lovely low draw, 5) Vokey SM7 52 degree wedge in oil can finish, great versatility.
Which clubs I enjoy using the most isn't the same as which ones I find most important to scoring. I enjoy hitting my driver immensely, but it's my short game tools I count as most important. Putter, wedges, irons, hybrids, driver, and fairway wood is the way I would order them where importance is concerned. And I feel confident that I'm correctly ordering them at least for my game and experience. I've played an entire season with no woods in the bag and while I shot no records scores, I still beat my playing partners about as often. I also learned something about course management along the way and believe it made me a better all around golfer.
I have a new Callaway Rogue triple diamond driver. And yes, probably most important. When hit well I get most enjoyment from it and if my driver is off on a day it can turn my round upside down. My Mizuno irons are important as well but they are so easy I don't have to think about them much
Importance in order: Irons, Putter, wedges, driver… I’m an average driver of the ball so I really rely on my approach and short game to score. Driver: TM SIM2 Max Fairway: TM M2 3HL Irons: Mizuno JPX 919 HM Pro 4-PW Wedges: Titleist (50,54,58) Putter: TM Juno hydroblast
I really like this post. Kinda makes you think about what clubs to really warm up on before a round. 1. Driver 10.5° Sim Max D. 3 year's old somewhat fitted put a custom shaft on it. Project X Hzerdous Black extra stiff 75g 48" I put this shaft on to slow my back swing down, 2. 5 Wood Big Bertha steelhead stiff shaft, 3. 8 iron 2020 Maverick stiff, 4. 7 wood Big Bertha warbird regular flex. 5. Cleveland RTX 52.
1.) Driver - Callaway Maverik 10.5° saving grace most of the time 2.) 46° Maverik AW use around 100 yards and bump and runs 3.) Taylormade Ardmore 3 putter is absolutely killing me right now 4.) 41° Maverik PW bump and runs 5.) I don’t have a 5th club that I like or use well.
Hmm I tried to resist the Driver as the primary club but you are right, blaze that smoke wagon round the course and you are king for a day and being in play and long is always beneficial for scoring so my offering would be: 1) Honma XP-1 9.5° Stiff Driver - Just works for me 2) Approach Wedge (SM8 50°) - The scoring club, learn to use it for full, half and 3/4 shots just smooth and less loft gives better results and consistency 3) Putter (Ping Tyne 2) - Has to be as to score you have to hole that little white bugger 4) 2 Hybrid (Ping G410) set to standard position - Pretty much replaced any woods in the bag and a go to for tight fairway tee shots, off the deck, from the rough and the 'Dennis' (chip and runs) 5) 6 Iron (TM P790 2021) just seems to be the club of the moment in my bag. On a long Par 4 or 5 when not going for the green. an awkward lie or need to shape it, just suits the 6 Iron. Not much to choose between the rest of the bag as I have a full range of wedeges and Irons that generally behave
Fitted clubs full bag. Driver LTD X MAX. Callaway fairway woods. 7and9. 6-PW Cobra one length. And the magic club Cleveland putter. Since all this went from 20 HDCP to 12. Liking all your videos James
1) Putter (phantom x 12.5) 2) 50 degree gap wedge (apex pro) 3) 3 wood (rogue st-ls) 4) 55 degree wedge (vokey sm9 10 degree bounce s grind) 5) Driver (Rogue ST Max LS 10.5 @ 9.5 degrees with Tensei AV white stiff shaft)
For reference I'm a senior golfer shoot 85-87 from 6200 yds. #1 Cobra LTDx 10.5 (upgraded from the Cobra F9) fitted with the Ventus Velocore blue 5A stupid long out of the screws (that's 230+ for this old man) but most importantly tighter dispersion (for me), off center still in the 210-220 range. Driver usually sets the tone for the day, good or bad. #2 is the 4hybrid, old M6 but it's my fairway finder on bad driver days I still get 180yds out of it and usually 2nd shot on par 5s since I have 0 chance of reaching in 2 normally. #3 Odyssey EXO Rossie putter, should probably be #1 since it's the most consistent club in the bag. #4 CobraF9 G wedge solid 90yd club(90 yds is my lay up distance when reaching the green isn't happening) and chipping club around the greens, . #5 TM Sim Max 6hybrid (stole this off Ebay for $87) 150-165max, my 'keep it in front of me' club and par 3 center of green finder (that's the plan anyways, doesn't always work out).
My most Important is my driver Cobra F9 set to 9’ because if I mess up with it it’s 3 bad and if it’s a big one it’s saving me shots. 2nd my gap wedge Sm8 52’ simply the course where I play the 100yard is the 2nd shot frequently due to the lay out of holes. 3rd is my 8i because it’s the iron I control the best and can hit constantly replacing a 9i or soft 7i. 4th putter I have only been playing 6 months and my putting is bang average so I have not developed a national swing yet and am not good enough to blame the club yet.
Those are my exact five as well - although I'm torn between my 56 and my 21-degree hybrid as the fifth because I can basically do everything with my 52, which I do almost all my green side chipping and pitching with, and my 62 which is my bunker club and severe short side rescue club - that hybrid, on the other hand, is so valuable in other situations like in rough and to hit high into greens.
Most important for me is my driver - Titleist 915 D2 which I have had for 3 seasons and bought second hand from the club pro, next definitely the putter, followed closely by my 8 iron for those little bump and runs when I miss the green ( quite regularly) with my approach shot
My most important club is my putter Odyssey two ball I had since they came out and I love it. Always feel comfortable standing over any putt. My 3 wood and new 7 wood are close second and third, my pitching wedge is fourth and then 5 iron.
I don't know honestly how to ranks the other aspects of my clubs. Irons and woods But Putter is most important at this point. Followed closely by wedges. You can hit everything else well and screw your score by 3 or even 4 putting You can save rounds with taking 1 extra shot in exchange for a 1 or 2 putt.
My driver is my favourite club, 290 ish average off the tee, it’s a Cobra Speedzone, 10.5* head bumped down to 9.5 but with a slightly closed face, Tensei Blue S-Flex. Bought off the rack but I’ve tampered with it myself to get the most out of it
1. Putter - switching between a wilson blade, and a Nike Method Concept. 2. Driver - 2nd Hand Cobra F7 - O have had for a year and I love it. 3. 54 wedge - So versitle on my round about the green and approach. I can leave my 60 out my half set. But not my 54. 4. 9 Iron - Good for distance and approach play. 5. Hybrid - I am struggling at the moment, but getting oit of the shit and making distance its great. But if i was only taking 5 out on the course.... 3 wood, hybrid, 8 iron, 54 wedge and putter
Clubs used the most are the most important, Putter and Driver. To stay in the fairway, I’ve been using Taylormade Minidriver. To sink the comeback putts, I’ve been using the Ping Sigma 2 Tyne at 36”.
1. Driver, 2. putter, 3. wedge The "Driver", to put yourself in position to attack the pin. The "Putter" because nothing kills your round faster than missing putts and lastly the "Wedge" because it's your all-purpose scoring and saving strokes club.
Great video. For myself first it’s the driver. Good or bad, it starts the day. Next is my putter. It’s saved the day many times. Third is my 64 degree Callaway Sure Out wedge. I get kidded about this club until they see how well it works out of the bunker. Forth is my 7 wood and lastly it my 5 driving iron
FIR's lead to GIR's so for me it is driver/tee shot then putter. I am blazing hot with my wedges right now so it is hard to leave them down the list. 1. Ping G425 Max Driver. 2. Odyssey Triple Track Putter. 3. Titleist AP2 716 Irons. 4. Ping Glide 3.0 Wedges. 5. Foot Wedge.
My most important club in the bag is my Scotty Cameron Select Fast Back I think I got it in 2015 the one with the Red Cross for alignment! I have more one putts than three putts with that putter, and I can’t see ever changing it out! I also had never had a round where I had under 30 putts before I bought it, and now to many to count! Second most important club in my bag is my Callaway Maverick 3 wood, it’s the only club that I have ever hit a hole-one with! 240 yards Par 4 on a short (6000 yards) municipal golf course! Also statistically my most accurate club off the tee, and has found many many par 5s in two for me too! No pun intended!! Third has to be my Vokey 54 s grind 10 degrees of bounce wedge. That is my go to club around the greens for almost any lie, and just about any shot inside of 75 yards (never hit full swings with it). Can’t live or play well without those three clubs!
1. Putter (I switched the the Spider putter and pix balls and shaved a lot of strokes and it’s the club I’m most confident with) 2. Driver (Once I dialed in my driver and even if I’m not striking my irons pure, I’m up and around the green more often) 3. 56 degree wedge (my Vokey SM8 is my money clubs that I chip, pitch, and full swing with and I love it) 4. Hybrid (my hybrid I can hit out of the rough, off the tee, or off the deck 200+ yards and is a club like I feel like I can’t mishit) 5. 8 iron (everyone loves a 7 iron but I love my 8 iron because I can hit it 75% in scoring range or hit a full shot on a par 3 and stop it on a dime)
Driver, putter, wedges. When I hit my driver well, keeping the ball in the fairway, I score well. When I hit it poorly, it costs me multiple strokes (lost balls & OB shots). For me it's about consistency and control...not distance. I use a 20+ year old putter. Putting for me, has very little to do with the club, but I obviously really like the putter I use. I use my PW, GW & 56 a LOT and I'll be replacing them ALL this year for models with more bounce. Based on content by James and other creators, I've come to the conclusion that more bounce will improve my results.
1. Putter - using an old Mizuno solid steel putter. I tried the Kirkland KS1 and I just wasnt happy with it. 2. SandWedge- I switched to the milled grind Taylormade 56°. Bc my approach shots arent the best I probably use this Club 17 holes. 3. Driver: Im gaming a Taylormade M1 set to 10.5° with a high draw setting. 4. Callaway Big Bertha 5 Wood (2018) set to 20°. 5. Callaway Big Bertha 3 wood (2017) set to 17° and lets me tee up and anything over 215 approach to the green.
Been hitting my trusty ping G driver for a while, 2 tour edge ex10 35 degrees and 28 degrees hybrids, the 28 degree hybrid is my favorite club, 150 to 160 yards never let's me down. And finally my ping b60 putter!⛳⛳⛳⛳😁😁
My driver. I've never been consistent with it, until this year. I was "fitted" for the mavrik sub zero when it came out. Never could trust it. I'm not brand biased, at all. So, this year, I tried several. The Rogue ST Max LS ended up on top, and it hasn't disappointed yet! Confidence off of the tee is where it begins. I'm also super happy with my new putter, the Ping Tyne 4.
I'd say #1 for me is my putter. I use it 18-40 times a round, and it needs to be the club I'm most comfortable with. #2 is my irons 3i-9i. If my driver doesn't fit the hole, or I'm not comfortable with it, I can confidently pull out my 3i. Next would be my wedges because if I get close to the green, but start to play tennis around the green, then my score is gone. Finally, my M6 would be my #4. It was the first club I ever bought, and I got it used. It's hit or miss, but if I can get on it, my round is great.
3 wood, 8 iron, sandwedge and putter is all I need. Yet I insist of having the full 14 club bag. Titlest Tsi2 3 wood, callerway b21 8 iron, custom jaws wedge and Toulon Atlanta
2 fittings for drivers over last 10 years. Both times, fitter left scratching his head as none came close to my 30yo G2. Stealth was shortest and least consistent of all recent drivers tested.
That’s the equivalent of sandbagging a fitting. Physics don’t lie and new drivers are substantially farther and straighter than drivers from 30 years ago unless you sabotage a fitting.
Putter, 52 gap wedge, driver, 4 wood, 3 iron. My tee clubs on all par 4/5 are the last 3 clubs. My gap wedge is my primary club near green and, if I putt well, I score well.
Driver king cobra f9 is my most important club, wasn’t fitted for it but tried many! It’s 3 years old and I won’t be changing soon, then my Cleveland putter then wedges (I have 4 45°, 50°, 54° and 58°) then my 5 hybrid and then irons.
I have KC Radspeed driver fitted. My most important club would be driver, Putter, sandwedge, gap wedge, 7 then 8 iron, pitching wedge, 6 iron, 60 degree wedge then 5 and 9 irons then 3 wood.
My 4 hybrid is my most important. It can go off the tee when the woods and driver are off, and I can get some good distance on a second shot when needed. Number 2 is my putter. Consistent puts save me more shots than anything else. the rest are my 120 and less clubs. If I can get it done from 120 in, I can save a lot of shots.
Driver (2017 TM M1 8.5 with fitted Tensei CK White X Stiff) Putter (Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie) 60 deg Callaway Mack Daddy 4 TT DG S400 47 deg PW Callaway Tour Authentic X Prototype Blade PX 6.0 6iron Callaway Tour Authentic X Prototype Blade PX 6.0
1.Driver= Calloway Razr X Black 9.5° (about 11 years old I believe) 2. Old generic Dunlop 56° 3. Taylormade 60° milled grind 2 4. Bombtech 5 iron(love this club) 5. Old Ping g5 Ugly mallet putter.
#1 = Putter, nothing else to say! #2 = Short pitch & chipping wedge as the more up & downs I get, the lower my score.(for me, this is my 54* PXG Sugar Daddy) #2 = Long pitch & 3/4 swing wedge as this is where it's important to get it close for a birdie putt(for me, this is my 50* PXG Gen3 0311-P) #4 = Favorite tee club(might not be driver, but mine is a PXG Gen4 0811-X 9*, Diamana S60 Limited X-Flex, and was fitted at PXG) #5 = Full swing PW as this is where I find myself most often on par 4's after a good drive and need to get it onto the green for a chance at birdie.
Has to be my 22° Hybrid. I assembled the golf head and shaft 15 years ago. I am sure I could replace it with one of the Hybrids that came out this year however I have a lot of confidence when I hit it. About 190 yards with a baby fade.
4 hybrid because I'm always short off the tee for par 5s, 52/pw landing on the green from layups, driver to not put it in the water or bushes off the tee, 3 wood when the driver isn't working, 8 iron for bump&run and approaches then everything else.
My Scotty is the last line of defense, the ts2 driver is a joy when we're in synch, sm8 56 is very versatile, 818 h1 is my fairway finder and my sm8 52 is my go to for general pitch/chip shots.
#1 Driver (Kijiji buy taylormade R5 N) #2 3wood (wilson traditional woods undecided if i like the steel woods yet) #3 irons generally like the odds, but my set with loft I'd take the evens 4'6'8' #4 wedges 50° and want a 56° #5 putter
Having recently cut down the number of clubs I use to seven. Driver, hybrid, 5,7,9,sw & putter. For me I would say they are all of equal importance. I would add that I am not missing any clubs that I have left at home, and the bag is lighter to carry.
I started in September and iv just posted my best score of 104 at Scalm Park, Selby, North Yorkshire. The top 5 clubs in my bag are Driver, 23° Hybrid, 7 Iron, 60° wedge and Putter, tho I could easily swap my 5 Iron for the 7 and my PW for the 60°.
3 wood, hybrid, wedges. Usually only pull driver 3-4 times around so 3 wood has become my go to tee club. Home course is tight and not a lot of par 4s over 400 yds. Hybrid is great off the tee, into par 5's and used on a couple of long par 3s. Wedges...self explanatory. Always scoring clubs.
Driver is #1 because if I hit a good drive, it sets up the hole and the round. My #2 is the putter because if you do not make putts you cannot play your best. Then #3 are the wedges because the closer to the hole you can hit it, the lower your scores will be.
The question depends on how far you hit the ball . As I hit a 230 yrs drive I play a lot of woods or hybrids as my second shot . Irons 6 to 9 are rarely used. Wedges and the putter figure next . So for me after the driver my 3,5,7 woods are key . I need to be able to hit them straight 160 to 200 yards to have any chance of hitting the green in regulation. Assuming I don’t they need to put me around the green where I have a good chance of chipping close . If i drove the ball 270 it would be a different game for me.
#1. Titleist 818 H1 3 hybrid, most versatile club in my bag 220-230. #2. Evnroll ER2 putter, best putter I have ever owned, dependable, it's perfect. #3. PXG 0211ST GAP, PW, 9 and 8 iron 100-160 yard pin seekers. #4. PXG 0211 28degree hybrid, 200yd bullseye, launches high and lands soft. #5. Titleist TS2 3wd, 240-250 yd bullet. #6. PXG 0311 p 7-5 iron, accurate and amazing feel. #7. Titleist SM5 56/10 and 60/08 wedges, decent wedges, due for a replacement. #8. PXG 0211 Driver, long and Straight, great sound and feel, explosive.
I have 4 sets of irons I play about the same with all of them, blades to player distance irons , fairway woods ,hybrids , utility irons ,wedges , but 3 clubs that have to be in my bag are the Taylormade 300 Mini driver It finds way more fairways and probably 5 out of 6 drives are just as long and its better in the wind for me , my putter a Ping Tyne ?? i think but since I got it last year its been awesome and a lefthanded 54 degree Vokey sm7 , when the chipping goes( which is often ) I turn to the darkside and chip and pitch lefty , I would say 90% of all my shots from 80 yards and in and bunker shots I play lefthanded. These 3 for sure the other 11 it really doesn't matter too much .
My Scotty Cameron first, my Vokey wedges 52 second, Mizuno 919 4 iron third, Taylormade Sim 2 max driver fourth. I cannot find a 3 wood i like to hit. Still looking for one.
1. Putter - Can save a round w/ this (I have the Touon Las Vegas as well)
2. 4 Hybrid - Great off the tee and around greens
3. Gap Wedge - Reliable approach to plan for, Scoring club
4. Driver - Knowing my shape, takes one side of danger out of play
5. 7 iron - First CB in an MB/CB combo set for extra forgiveness, tee club on short par 4's and approach iron on long par 4's
Honourable mention: 60 degree - Very versitile but wouldn't say I rely on it as much anymore
I have the Cobra Radspeed which I brought early this year and I was fitted, love it !
currently using a cobra f7 driver and love it, can’t bring my self to change and would only change it for another cobra driver, 1. Driver, 2. 7 iron, 3. Pitching wedge, 4.putter, 5. Gap wedge
I reckon I could score pretty similarly to what I can with my full bag by just using 7w, 30° hybrid, 9iron, 54° wedge and putter
No loss in distance and fairway percentages increased by 20%
Why not 50-52 wedge instead of a 48 if you have a 56 next?
1. Putter - Toulon Las Vegas (I had it first!)
2. Driver - SIM2 MAX 10.5*, VA Slay 65g shaft
3. 7i - JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro, Project X LZ 5.5
4. LW - 60*/6 RTX Zipcore
5. 3H - SIM2 Rescue, VA Slay 85g shaft
All fitted
My favourite clubs in my bag are;
These are my 'go to' clubs that fill me with confidence and still enjoy using them. Been in my bag for a long time and have no intention of replacing them yet.
Srixon ad 19° hybrid
Srixon ad 25° hybrid
Lynx mmi 48° wedge
Taylormade Sldr driver (with 3 wood shaft)
Odyssey White Ice #7 putter
TM SIM2 3W 13.5* definitely my most favorite, Scotty Newport, Cobra Forged Tec 4 and 9 iron then finally my Titleist SM8 60/08*! Great video James!
Most important clubs in my bag:
1. Driver - Ping G410 SFT with stiff Alta CB 65 gram shaft, Tour Velvet standard size grip. - I was fitted for this driver, and I can hit it really well.
2. 7 Iron - Callaway XR OS, steel Speedstep 80 regular flex shaft, Golf Pride CP2 midsize grip. - Iron Set self fitted, play the best I ever have with these irons.
3. Pitching Wedge - Callaway XR OS, specs match 7 Iron.
4. Putter - Scotty Cameron 2020 Special Select Newport, 35" shaft, standard SC Grip. - stock, not fitted
5. 56 Degree Wedge - Titleist Vokey SM56-10, Dynamic Golf steel shaft, Lamkin grip.
James. On a separate subject. Its great to see you coming to norfolk to play our wonderful courses. I never thought i would see that on this channel.
Glad to see the top cameraman is back😁
G410 max
Yonex 7 wood
Odyssey 2 ball
9 iron
SM8 56
In no particular order
1. Putter 2. PW 3. Driver 4. 56 5. 2 iron
I use a new (this season bought last years model) mavrik head and I’m not fitted but I bought a 6.5 70g project x smoke shaft and it’s a cannon but that’s why the two iron made my top five cuz sometimes I want a little more rollout if there’s a downslope or a little less distance overall.
Driver: TM SIM2 Max
Fairway: TM M2 3HL
Irons: Mizuno JPX 919 HM Pro 4-PW
Wedges: Titleist (50,54,58)
Putter: TM Juno hydroblast
I really like this post. Kinda makes you think about what clubs to really warm up on before a round. 1. Driver 10.5° Sim Max D. 3 year's old somewhat fitted put a custom shaft on it. Project X Hzerdous Black extra stiff 75g 48" I put this shaft on to slow my back swing down, 2. 5 Wood Big Bertha steelhead stiff shaft, 3. 8 iron 2020 Maverick stiff, 4. 7 wood Big Bertha warbird regular flex. 5. Cleveland RTX 52.
1.) Driver - Callaway Maverik 10.5° saving grace most of the time
2.) 46° Maverik AW use around 100 yards and bump and runs
3.) Taylormade Ardmore 3 putter is absolutely killing me right now
4.) 41° Maverik PW bump and runs
5.) I don’t have a 5th club that I like or use well.
Hmm I tried to resist the Driver as the primary club but you are right, blaze that smoke wagon round the course and you are king for a day and being in play and long is always beneficial for scoring so my offering would be:
1) Honma XP-1 9.5° Stiff Driver - Just works for me
2) Approach Wedge (SM8 50°) - The scoring club, learn to use it for full, half and 3/4 shots just smooth and less loft gives better results and consistency
3) Putter (Ping Tyne 2) - Has to be as to score you have to hole that little white bugger
4) 2 Hybrid (Ping G410) set to standard position - Pretty much replaced any woods in the bag and a go to for tight fairway tee shots, off the deck, from the rough and the 'Dennis' (chip and runs)
5) 6 Iron (TM P790 2021) just seems to be the club of the moment in my bag.
Chris' thumbs ups in front of the cam were the best.
1) Putter (phantom x 12.5)
2) 50 degree gap wedge (apex pro)
3) 3 wood (rogue st-ls)
4) 55 degree wedge (vokey sm9 10 degree bounce s grind)
5) Driver (Rogue ST Max LS 10.5 @ 9.5 degrees with Tensei AV white stiff shaft)
Irons and woods
But Putter is most important at this point. Followed closely by wedges.
You can hit everything else well and screw your score by 3 or even 4 putting
You can save rounds with taking 1 extra shot in exchange for a 1 or 2 putt.
Driver is a Sim 2 Max set at 9.5° with a Ventus Blue 6S. I was fit for it and love it.
Gap wedge, sand wedge, 8 iron, 3 iron, putter. Everything is fitted, planning to upgrade this summer in a few areas...
Well done James 👏
I played a round a few days ago. My Cobra LTDx driver was the most important. It was the only one I hit consistently. Followed by putter, then 8 iron.
I’ve just bought a Callaway XR driver and 3 wood off eBay and really like them. An upgrade from my 20 year old driver!
Yes I have the best rounds of golf when I'm driving the ball great. I currently have the Titelist tsi 3 driver and I completely love it
If you’re driving is in play and putting great, 100% chance youll have a great score.
1. Putter (I switched the the Spider putter and pix balls and shaved a lot of strokes and it’s the club I’m most confident with)
2. Driver (Once I dialed in my driver and even if I’m not striking my irons pure, I’m up and around the green more often)
3. 56 degree wedge (my Vokey SM8 is my money clubs that I chip, pitch, and full swing with and I love it)
4. Hybrid (my hybrid I can hit out of the rough, off the tee, or off the deck 200+ yards and is a club like I feel like I can’t mishit)
5. 8 iron (everyone loves a 7 iron but I love my 8 iron because I can hit it 75% in scoring range or hit a full shot on a par 3 and stop it on a dime)
I was just fitted by PXG for a full bag, I am excited to see if I hit them as well as on the trackman.
Mizuno STg 220 sold my PXG Proto.... the Mizuno is amazing ...more adjustability than anything.... a Fitters Dream....
Finally bought a new one...Ping 425 lst 9*, love it.... replaced a use Nike Vapor...
Tree wood, 6 iron, 9 iron, 50 w & putter top 5 clubs in my bag, all 2016/2017 clubs
Driver king cobra f9 is my most important club, wasn’t fitted for it but tried many! It’s 3 years old and I won’t be changing soon, then my Cleveland putter then wedges (I have 4 45°, 50°, 54° and 58°) then my 5 hybrid and then irons.
I have an F9 driver too and refitted it with a shaft suited for me and it’s not going anywhere soon.
My five most important golf clubs: 1. Putter - Odyssey Stroke lab black double wide. 2. Driver - Callaway Rogue Max. 3. 3iron - Ping G Crossover. 4. 8iron - PXG 0211. 5. 58 degree wedge - Cleveland CBX2
Driver (2017 TM M1 8.5 with fitted Tensei CK White X Stiff)
Putter (Odyssey White Hot OG Rossie)
60 deg Callaway Mack Daddy 4 TT DG S400
47 deg PW Callaway Tour Authentic X Prototype Blade PX 6.0
6iron Callaway Tour Authentic X Prototype Blade PX 6.0
1.Driver= Calloway Razr X Black 9.5° (about 11 years old I believe)
2. Old generic Dunlop 56°
3. Taylormade 60° milled grind 2
4. Bombtech 5 iron(love this club)
5. Old Ping g5 Ugly mallet putter.
#1 = Putter, nothing else to say!
#2 = Short pitch & chipping wedge as the more up & downs I get, the lower my score.(for me, this is my 54* PXG Sugar Daddy)
#2 = Long pitch & 3/4 swing wedge as this is where it's important to get it close for a birdie putt(for me, this is my 50* PXG Gen3 0311-P)
#4 = Favorite tee club(might not be driver, but mine is a PXG Gen4 0811-X 9*, Diamana S60 Limited X-Flex, and was fitted at PXG)
#5 = Full swing PW as this is where I find myself most often on par 4's after a good drive and need to get it onto the green for a chance at birdie.
Has to be my 22° Hybrid. I assembled the golf head and shaft 15 years ago. I am sure I could replace it with one of the Hybrids that came out this year however I have a lot of confidence when I hit it. About 190 yards with a baby fade.
PW, FW5 and 4 hybrid are the clubs I reach for when in doubt. I've just started and haven't gotten enough practice in with most of my clubs.
You should try Titleist clubs sometime.
@@michaelbarker3749 lol. 716 ap2 in the bag as well
1. Driver
2. Putter
3. 7 hybrid for approach shots
4. 60/52 deg wedges
5. rest
Driver - Ping G410 Plus
3W - Ping G410
3i Utility Iron - Titleist U505
4i thru PW - 2023 TM P770
50, 54, 58 wedges - Vokey SM7
Putter - Bettinardi Queen B #11
All fitted
My Driver is G400 Max (yes I was fitted with Ping Tour shaft, standard settings) and I would say it is my 3rd most important club in my bag.
#1 Driver (Kijiji buy taylormade R5 N)
#2 3wood (wilson traditional woods undecided if i like the steel woods yet)
#3 irons generally like the odds, but my set with loft I'd take the evens 4'6'8'
#4 wedges 50° and want a 56°
#5 putter
The 50 degree is the most consistent club in my bag. Extremely easy to hit.
Putter, driver (fitted SIM2 Max-Paderson Kinetixx IMRT shaft), 7I, PW, 56’ wedge. All are important but these are where I score best.
7 Wood really helped me with more greens in reg.
1- putter
2- driver
3- gw
4- 56°
5- 8 iron
3 wood, hybrid, wedges. Usually only pull driver 3-4 times around so 3 wood has become my go to tee club. Home course is tight and not a lot of par 4s over 400 yds. Hybrid is great off the tee, into par 5's and used on a couple of long par 3s. Wedges...self explanatory. Always scoring clubs.
Driver hybrid 60 wedge putter and 8 iron
Driver just got this year not fitted just off the shelf taylormade m4 Driver and love it
Driver is #1 because if I hit a good drive, it sets up the hole and the round.
If i drove the ball 270 it would be a different game for me.

putter, irons, wedges, hybrids/fairway woods, driver. you use putter the most, driver can be replaced on any hole, and often will result in accuracy.
Which hybrid clubs which you must have in your golf bad - for beginners.
3 wood, 6 iron, 56 degree wedge, putter. They are the 4 most used clubs in my bag.
My top 5 would be 4 iron, 8 iron, 52, 60 (for bunkers) and putter. Could play a round with those only comfortably
