Barring any extremes, I don't think the weight of a shoe is very important. As long as they snug in the right places, they can become one with the foot. What I can't stand is when a boot is too loose, and you can feel your foot move inside of it before the boot moves. That makes me feel like I'm dragging an anchor.
Although these aren’t really waterproof, I think I still made the right decision in picking this as my first pair of boots, and I’m glad that they do fit each and single one of your criteria very well, although the sole may be not be as slip resistant, I think this one is balanced for my everyday needs. They make the exact same boot in a WP version. You do not always want or even need WP. This is for the newer Moab 3 though. So not sure about the 2nd generation Moab.
I would go with Salomon, because Salomon just fits me better than Merrell. They are both fantastic boots, but Salomon has more narrow fit, which I prefer.
@@UltimateSurvivalGear have you noticed decline in quality since the Chinese company took over? Puts me off Salomon a bit, lots of people saying its a noticable drop.

There is GORE TEX variant of these boots, Ventilator option is all about breathability!
