I was decent with my feet, but absolute rubbish with my hands. Of course this didn't let me get out of being the goalie because everyone else enjoyed every shot whistling past or through me 😓
I was a goalie for my local club and school. I was pretty good. My team wasn’t. It lead to me getting man of the match lots of times and I would save crazy shots and I really showed everyone my reflexes. I can remember a couple of shots I saved that still stick in my head even though it was about 8-9 years ago. My coach even got me into the West Ham training ground in Chadwell heath. Anyway, I remember some days I’d wake up and I couldn’t be bothered to play. Then I remember in those matches how I would receive a pass back from one of my defenders and wouldn’t be able to control the ball and I’d concede an own goal. The embarrassment and the disappointment was so strong. I would fumble simple easy shots a bit like Karius did and it was the worst feeling in the world. My mind set would cost me games. Then I got a knee injury whilst training penalties and have never played a game of football since. I can’t imagine what karius felt in this moment. Champions league final and he does this. I really hope he can redeem himself with Newcastle seeing how pope is out now.
I also work as a goalie. I never feel to save anything because of the team defense that are good because of that i have a kinda a bad history about saving because i didnt train stoping shots because i believe on my teammate defense

A goal keeper can save 5 shots, then make one mistake and people jump all over him... A striker can miss 6 chances then score an easy tap in and he is the hero. 2 mistakes don't make a bad goal keeper. Every play makes several mistakes every game, goal keeper is the most difficult position on the field and their efforts are not appreciated. If Liverpool had created more chances and prevented the crosses and shots the goalkeeping errors wouldn't have been an issue.
