Thank you for this jump start! I made good experiences with draining the carb by driving with a closed fuel tap, before I parked the bike for some days. I'm not sure why but even after only few days my DR starts better that way.
Nice idea. Day before recording this video there was a big problem to start both bikes (DR and XR). Both bikes were unused for about 3 weeks. After draining the carbs with a draining screw and filling it with "new" gas both bikes started almost immediately. But your way of draining carb is very smart :D
You should always drain the carbs if it doesn't start easily. I have a f650 bmw. It has electric start, but if fuel tap left on, it floods and takes ages to start. I have to redo the seals in the carbys to fix. It could be that yours is a similar problem. Big Single 4 strokes sometimes have this problem.. Cheers from Auckland
I'm looking at a DR 350 on the weekend and I watched this to not embarass myself when trying to start it. Lets see if it works out, maybe I'll own my first bike in a couple days!
Thanks, it is nice to hear that :) You should definitely fix it, it is a nice bike to ride and to work with. DR is very easy to push start in case of problems with electric start. If adding kicksterter is fast and easy then it's ok. Good luck! Let's save all DR's around the world! :D
Put a battery eliminator on mine lost about seven pounds. Took passenger mounts off. Rental bars. One mirror. Even raced it in a motocross veteran’s class did well and road it to and from. Mini stalk blinkers and minimum license plate mount. Looks far more dirt than street but completely legal. They are excellent dual sports. Will make technical hillclimbs that blazing power is not as helpful as low end grunt. Took heat shielding off pipe and polished for cool blue effect. Aluminum Super Trapp muffler. Though now 30,000 miles she still looks and runs as new. Silverstar Ultra headlight plenty bright. Can hit 90 mph but more common to cruise 60. Will climb any hill within reason wide range six speed transmission. 110 mile range. Plenty far on trails. Very capable suspension have dropped of six foot loading docks just soaks it up. Grease fittings on linkage. Genuine Suzuki.
Yes. You made the video i was asking about..Thank you. First question, in beginning you show where TDC is then bring back up and kick. But when you use Compression release , it doesn't matter ? When you pull Compression release and it pops back out and if it doesn't start do you have to find a position before restarting the procedure over. Oh i had to laugh about kill switch on that one attempt to start. I believe everyone's done that plenty of times
You mean decompression lever? If you press it in, in right place it will stay pressed. If you press it in "wrong prace" it will immediately pop out, so you need to turn engine a little - then try again and this time decompression lever should stay pressed in. In general it always stay pressed in after pressing it when you start feeling resistance on kick starter lever. (I hope it helped :D)
Hello, excellent video!! I am thinking of buy a Suzuki DR 350. I currently have a 225 Yamaha XT Serow, but I need a little more power. What do you think about this? What are the pros and cons of the DR 350? Thanks! Greetings from Argentina 🇦🇷
Fantastic and really helpful . Can you show us a bad morning when you have to work to start it - It would help us to know what to try if the choke and evrything doesn't work
3:47 is cold start at ~50°F (10°C). Day before there was big problem to start, but after draining old gasoline from carburetor it started after 2 kicks. The bike was unused about 3 weeks :(
@@DawidMartasMotoAdventures Thank you for replying :) Maybe you can show us the day when you have to persuade it more - not because it needs a big fix lie yesterday but just because it is slower to start. Do you understand what I'm getting at?
Need to replace the carb on my 370dr any suggestions also I don’t think my bike has a decompression I know if it don’t start you won’t be walking for a few minutes

My decompression lever pops out as soon as I touch the kicker. No prob, it's easy to kick over. Didn't realize the kill switch stays depressed when pushed until watching this video. Wasted a day kicking the bike with the kill switch in the off position.
Just bought one last week. It's a bitch to start cold. I can't do it for some reason so my friend starts it for me but his drz650 electric start doesn't work so I have to pop start his bike in return 🤣
Thank you for this jump start!

Perfect explanation of the correct procedure 👏👏

Nice video. After rebuilding the engine on one of my 650 Dakar I tend to use the de-comp lever to kickstart it from TDC as it allows less force.
I've been loving your vids. It's inspiring me to fix up my old DR350SE. Mine has an electric start but i'm thinking of adding a kickstart as well.
Thanks, it is nice to hear that :)

100% correct. DR is a very well designed motorcycle :D

Nice work! This series helps me with my dr!
Ciao cara. e sempre un piacere rivedere le tue imprese e ho sempre il mio dr 350 de 91 .
