    Someone who made it here looking for what kind of vacuum I had. Turns out it was a blue moon (lol). Had all these issues, it was my parents vacuum and they threw a lot of money into it. Now its mine and it may still not work some times but I love it just the same.

    We still have a few Blue Moon lovers that occasionally bring them in for service. I think it's an awesome machine after you convince them to get the new hose. I love the fingertip controls.

    Nice work. I noticed you're in the Miele group on Facebook. I have the S626 Big Cat and Dog 1600w equivalent and a 2100w Miele S858 Plus. It was me who also had the issue with the cord rewind which is going to get replaced shortly!

    I still have and use a Red Velvet, it's a great machine and does the job. Hard to justify replacing it. Sure, the C3 Brilliant is way better and more modern looking, but I might as well keep replacing bags and filters on this one until it dies.

    So 2004 and it has a new motor. Is this like my old Mercedes where they tell you that it lasts for decades but you have to replace every single part to do it?

    Now I know. I bought the Silver Moon new back in 2002-ish (I think) and it was a failure. I loved that it had adjustable power settings and they told me it was quieter. My experience with the motorized carpet attachment was poor because it would get too low and stop spinning even with height adjustment. The vacuum still works even after using it during a remodel! So the motor is a champ. The hose is the worst part of the vacuum, it crapped out 12 years ago. Naturally I spent more to purchase the worst vacuum after trying to buy the best vacuum at the time in Hawaii. I learned something and I appreciate your video. P.S. Where is their cordless canister version that was released in Europe years ago? Thank you.

    So I have the hose with no wattage values like you show for the updated hose, just Max and Min with dots in between, but the handle still swivels. The tag on the handle says it is an SES125-3. There must have been two update and I have the intermediate one?
    I used to take the original hose ends apart and clean them. I know Miele says the hose isn't serviceable but it is. Clean up the contacts, a little silicone grease and put it back together. Fingers crossed this hose gives me better results :/

    I've got a UK model S556. Its hose control panel doesn't have the numbers but the hose does swivel at both ends, I know because I've had it apart twice..

    It may be the worst designed Miele ever, but in my opinion, this body style is the best looking

    • @Letshaveafewbeers
      @Letshaveafewbeers 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Definitely the best looking and the rarest. The blue moon had lots of teething problems with the hose. But there were other models in the S600 and S800 that were also top of the range and better. Look out on the Miele Vacuum Forum of facebook I might post a video

      Paul Hojda The S712 2000w is great. I think this design and era was Miele's best built and best looking. I love how chunky my S800 is. I have an S5 too and even though it's solid you can see how the build quality has decreased

    Thank you for this video. I have exactly the problem with the hose you describe, it cuts the power. I believe the wires to circuit board have detached and need to be re-soldered. Could you please show me how to repair the hose and reattached the wires to the circuit board? Thanks very much!

    • @PerformanceReviews

      The hose cannot be repaired that's the purpose of this video. It must be changed out. if you're having problems with the internal circuit board you need to bring it to a professional and have it checked out.

    Was Silver Moon s558 just as problematic as the Blue Moon? I bought a used one from my local Miele dealer and had no problems. I eventually had no carpet so I gave it to my parents to replace an old upright screamer that qualified as an aural hazmat. i don't recall the brand. Thanks for the video.

    I have a silver moon and the controls on the hose randomly go from suction to standby a lot. You can immediately turn them back on by pushing the (+) button but it's annoying. Is this the issue you were describing at the beginning?

      @@PerformanceReviews thank you. I know you said unless you're on a tight budget and could only get a hose, you'd recommend not repairing the blue moon. Do you recommend cutting my losses and getting a new vacuum with the silver moon or was that comment only talking about the blue moon? It seems to be in good condition other than the hose issue.

    I loved this video. I routinely stop by the local Goodwill and look for vacuums. I picked up this model and it has the newer hose (no numbers), but the display doesn't work. Is there a way to service the hose? I can't figure out how to take it apart to verify if the slip rings and contacts are dirty.

    Is the silver moon just as bad? My grandmother had one of those and it was in the shop every 18 months until she died. So my grandpa threw it out and bought something else. It ruined Miele for everyone in my family actually. We all thought of them as overpriced garbage. It also had the smaller power head that didn’t stand up on itself with the smallest brush bar that barely did anything to clean. It truly was a horrible machine

  • @academos1000

    I'm one of those suckers who bought the Bluemoon thinking I was buying a quality machine. I agree, it is a bad machine. I disagree, the power brush is any good or the new hose is any better. I'm on my 3rd brush, in which the roller ends melted and on the 2nd hose that acts exactly like first one. Is there any way to fix the hose without giving Miele anymore money?

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      My recommendation sadly to everybody who bought one of these who does not want to keep it as part of the vacuum collection. Is to wash your hands of it it's a money pit. Personally I would replace it with a SEBO , another Miele or Nilfisk. the only time I see the end is melted on that power brush is when they've gone without service and the owner did not clean out the hair on a regular basis. Still only really extreme cases. Good luck to you

  • @Bkellyusa
    @Bkellyusa 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Man, we have one of these and this machine is haunted. One of the worse home appliances I have ever seen. Miele wouldn't warranty it either although I originally called them while it was under warranty. They told me they had a fix for it comiing. However by the time they came up with the later hose it was out of warranty and despite the fact that they told me it would be covered while I was waiting when it finally came out they would not cover the cost of the new hose under warranty. So, we bought the hose ourselves in an effort to save our $1,200.00 investment. Guess what. The newer hose isn't noticeably any better.
    Fortunately the local dealer, Edison Vacuum in Nashville, agreed that the machine was basicaly unrepairable and offered to sell us any replacement machine we wanted at cost. So we bought the Titan model which is quite a bit simpler than this machine but is not as nicely featured as the Bkue Moon. Edison offered us this deal even though when we bought it they weren't even a Miele dealer and we had purchased it from another authorized Miele dealer who quickly went out of business.
    Anyhow, my question is if I put the SES 236 Powerbrush and hose on this unit will it fix the problems. I hate throwing out a $1,200.00 machine but if that's the best solution I'll put it in the garbage.

    • @PerformanceReviews
      @PerformanceReviews  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      First of all my condolences that's one of the only bad machines Miele has ever made. glad the dealer did exactly what I have offered customers when these things were out of warranty.
      I would take the SEB236 and use it with your Miele Titan.
      Take your blue moon put it up on eBay and wash your hands of it. I wouldn't trust it even if it was fixed right.

    • @Bkellyusa
      @Bkellyusa 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't plan to do it but I would like new what it take to fix one of the Blue Moon models. I had always thought it was just the hose and handle that were the problem.
      Thanks also for your recommendation. That vacuum is so troubled I could never sell it to anybody with a straight face. We basically haven't used it in years. i sjut thought I'd check on the internet to see if anyone had figured out a repair for it.
