Halo: Reach was my favorite Halo game I've played. I have countless hours just playing forge with my friends. I remember messing around playing prophunt, duckhunt, parkour, that game mode with cars flying down at mach 2, modded game modes that had vehicles that you can't spawn in. Now that we all moved and are out of high school, some in the military and I'm in college, I do miss it. Halo 4 had some good memories, but we didn't play very much on it. One game mode I liked playing was a battleship vs battleship death match. Each team had an aircraft carrier/battleship hybrid and battle rifles.
Forge World is one of the greatest things Halo ever did. Forge World 2.0 maybe one day? Halo 5 canvas' are great, but I think Forge World's mix of blank canvas, but also preset landmarks was perfect for all forgers.
my friends didn't fully understand the game types part of the game, so we would like start a new map and then give each other a grace period of like 30 minutes before we started to hunt each other down while still in forge mode.
I remember watching that Forge World viddoc as a ten year old and just being amazed and eager to get my hands on the game and was immediately sold on it when I learned about fixed and phased physics. I later got the game on my 11th birthday and has become my favorite halo game and in my top 5 games in general. I also love the mcc update to forge on Reach and 3.
I remember the day reach came out so vividly.. It was the first game I ever pre-ordered (legendary edition gang) and my mum let me take a "sick" day from school to go pick it up and play it on launch day. Since all my friends were still at school I had no one to play with so I just loaded into forge world and started making a parkour map, the scale of that map was something I had never seen before in a video game and, and the potential the new forge tools presented absolutely blew my mind into a thousand tiny pieces. SO many possible maps, game types, and hours of fun. I cant remember another game ever giving me feelings of awe and wonder on the same level as that map. When my friends got out of school and picked up their own copies we all jumped in an XBL party chat and I had them try the parkour map I had spent all day building, we then proceeded to spend the next week adding onto it together and that single parkour map became the forge hub for myself and my friends. I have such fond memories of it, we would start our gaming sessions by loading into that map and chatting shit while attempting the most recently built parts and we went on to slowly improve and alter that one map until we all moved onto other games a couple years later. The end of h3 and the first year of halo reach was the golden age of online gaming IMO, and I know this is partially because of my nostalgia-tinted glasses and partially because we all grew up and created complex lives for ourselves outside of gaming, but nothing has come close to giving me the same feeling, nothing I've played has had me feeling giddy and excited to jump on and jam some matchmaking with friends the same way these games did. I don't think it ever will either. It's kinda sad to think about it this way, some of my friends are married with kids now, others just don't keep in contact so it will just never be the same.. But it's nice to be able to look back fondly on those times and say "We were there for these monumental moments in gaming history and we made the most of it while we could". So yeah it's sad but more than anything I'm just really happy I got to experience it. Not to sound like a regretful old man (I'm only 25 lol) but to the younger generation who started this Halo journey with infinite: Cherish these times, when Infinite's forge comes out I implore you to get stuck into it and get creative, make some whacky custom games, laugh with your friends, be in the moment. Sure, the game has issues but so did h3 and reach, that never stopped us from making the most of what we had and it shouldn't stop you either
when i first started playing forge i asked my mom if i could pay $15 for a chopper on snowbound. she said no… i was 8 or 9 at the time and didn’t get that the “budget” was in game currency.
Seeing as how Infinite is doing seasons based on games, I wouldn’t mind each season bringing back 3-5 iconic maps from each game. Forge world needs to be one of those in infinite’s forge
i loved the pre-release hype for Forge World! the reveal during a Red vs Blue video, the fan-made recreation of the objects in an architecture software (Google Sketchup Forge) it had a bunch of us making maps before the game came out, although the pieces didn't end up being 1:1 with the actual game lol
@@michaelandreipalon359 it was!! then also the Season 8 finale aired the day before Reach came out, and the final scene takes place in the Forge World version of Blood Gulch!
I didn't know or forgot that Halo reach had the nudge axis ability or the change colour thing. Thank you, this is gonna make life easier when I get back into forge world.
Being able to colour the Mongooses (google spell check says that's the correct way) was actually really cool and it sucks it didn't spread to more vehicles or games.
I remember playing that one vidoc so many times back when reach came out. Downloaded that vid on my 360 and I was always so excited for forge and loved the mode so much in reach. Thank you for this video, for some reason, this felt nostalgic already just by the title. Maybe cause forge isn’t around yet in infinite lol. Great video RS, keep up the amazing work! :)
Until the MCC came out for PC, my friends and I spent a majority of our hours in Forge World building things, my one friend went above and beyond and I’ll always be impressed by his dedication and craftsmanship
This video brought back memories. I grew up with reach and I still hold great memories of maps like splatter monkey, get out of my house, and speed halo
I made a map that spanned the entire forge world, and my friends and I would snipe each other from the pillar to the canyon. We maxed out the range of most of the weapons. It was so much fun.
ngl most of the time my sister and I spent in forge world was just us messing around and exploring, sorta like the minecraft creative mode of halo if you will
When halo reach was added to MCC and I saw the additions made to it, I was stoked. After re-learning the mechanics of forge, I made a map heavily inspired by one of my favorite maps from halo ce, Chiron Tl-34. Even had a chance to play it with some friends online. MCC revitalized my love for this mode, and I hope it is done justice for infinite.
Forge World really just hit different. I've spent so much time crafting and polishing maps on Forge World for no other reason that to goof around with my friends. We make massive rally style mongoose racetracks and we can just build whatever comes into our heads and the simplicity of the editing keeps you from taking it too seriously. We now have about 10 tracks with about 7 good ones. We recently made a custom game and had 16 players racing at one point. It was so much fun to see these projects I spent hours making being raced competitively by so many other people. A random person even won a race. Halo 5 just went too far and it's too much like a regular map editor. It's like the freedom stifled innovation where Forge World had me thinking of twenty different ways I could use railing long or seastack.
I remember getting like 2-5 friends on weekends and going on forge map and creating bases on the map like making the observatory a fort and flying ships with flying vehicle landing pads and an armory, and towers on top of the island or the cliff side, and in the caves and we’d just battle from our bases and have sniper battles from all over the map. I’m in the process of getting a copy of it for Xbox 360 just to get those back cause I always hosted back then. It was the best.
They should backport Forge World to halo 3. Sandbox isnt big enuf, and its getting a little silly driving on those steep dunes on custom maps. Shit even just a huge flat plane.
Not to rain on your parade guys, but, Far Cry instincts did this and more two years before the release of Halo 3 running on the OG Xbox hardware. Js frfr
I think the reason reach forge is so well-liked is it struck a legit perfect balance- simple yet powerful, user-friendly yet expansive. It's crazy to think about now what halo used to launch with. How above and beyond this series used to go right out the gate on day 1.
I was so addicted to forge years ago I made a lot of custom maps and game modes mini games for me and my cousins to play on system link.. those were the days!
Deadass the first thing I did when I booted up Halo Reach back when it launched was I went into forge and made a little house for myself on the Island out of objects with my favorite weapons mounted on the walls and a little back exit leading to a Revenant
I think forge world would be percect for Infinite's sandbox, imagine entire custom games built around grapple parkour on forge world, it fits perfectly.
When we were kids in our school at the time we'd play a game called forts where all of us got on and went to different parts of the map to build a structure and then we'd just invade each other once we built everything up and honestly for things like that I absolutely adore Reach Forge
Would be nice if 343 took the forge world map and placed it in halo infinite as a campaign DLC location. And then allow us to use that map in forge for Multiplayer.
We used to do wars, we will separate into two teams of 8 and create a hidden base in 10 mins then we will hide a fusion coil in the base, which was the objective. 3 lives each, if you died you become a forge ball and spectate. Games will last hours it was so much fun.
2a forge is my favourite because of its tool but forge world keeps bringing me back to reach solely because how fun it is, even if there’s no duplicating objects
I still remember the first time I loaded into forge world. In the hangar and I assumed the map was just the hangar and the space above it… oh boy was I wrong, my childish joy as I discovered the lack of barriers as I flew further and further into Forge World…
I never used forge alot to make things, mainly just flew around by myself and played with stuff. But this video makes me feel very nostalgic for some reason
Bro ever since they released the thorage update for mcc, multiplayer became a campaign, but in a good way. The transport falcons, and even increased money for creation makes it funner.
Just imagine 64 player forge world, essentially Battlefield 2552. That would just have been amazing. It feels so large and grandscale even now. Amazing map!
Back in the days, when I was 13, forge mode was the best thing I've ever liked. All the fun with new friends creating / discovering maps and game modes... I remember all the jengas, the Indiana jones, the ninja parkours, and all the mangoost races and sooo more ! Since that day, I always wanted to become a game designer, and now, I finished computer studies and watching for a game designer job. Halo reach forge mode litterally changed my life ^^'
Reach was the apex of halo custom games developing and halo 4 and 5 kind of left us desiring more and infinite is a dry desert yet to show a dang thing!
I kinda just realized that forge mode is like a really basic CAD software where you can build stuff with only what is already in the game but you can do a lot with it. Like tinkercad but better
Love to see a fellow halo reach shill here. I loved reach back then but lacked the creativity to do much. Recently I rebuilt 2fort from Team Fortress 2 in this map, using the water for the sewer section. Sadly even MCCs budget doesn't allow for the intel room to be added due to engine limitations. It still is the best FFA map i have ever played on. I had so many gun game sessions on this map. I love this forge alot and I'm really looking forward to what halo infinite will allow us to do.
i always wished that through the content updates halo reach would've expanded the forge world and opened up some of the kill boundaries update by update to let us explore the entirety of it.
I remember picking up forge mode for all of about 8 minutes. Some people have made some pretty cool stuff though, and definitely a cool video. It's pretty low on my list of Halo features though.
Halo reach forge infection was the best. I remember playing the fat kid game mode of infection for hours back in the day! Hope halo infinite can one day be good and have a good forge!
Oh man, this brings me back to when talented artists could create entire set pieces out of Forge objects... Someone made Halo Wars Arbiter out of them... That's bonkers 🤯 I tried my hand at creating entire vehicles back in the day, they were nothing like that modded Supercarrier map but still... I almost wanna do it again to see if what I can build. Also, Speed Halo is a staple for me, personally.
If you think about it halo really started the parkour in gaming scene like without map editor on halo it would’ve been obsolete imo. Mario also was a big key to map editors
My only problem i had with Forge World is that it made all the maps had the same aesthetic since all the geometry had the same texture. Other than that, it truly was perfect
I spent so many hours in forge for halo reach. Why halo 5 is by far the best, it's tricky to use and many of my friends hated halo 5 forge. However reach we use to just build a base randomly so where and then go to battle. Every could use it.
I can remember watching all the halo-reach machinimas like Rise of The Spartans and trying to recreate my own and just building huge bases and stuff... and don't even get me started on custom games
As a kid, I made so many 8v8 BTB maps that nobody would really even get to play. I just liked building lol.

I think that might be impossible thanks to the bungie engine, even if it was possible 343 is focused on halo infinite, the possibility is very low.
Gonna go play halo reach now ty.
I was so addicted to forge years ago I made a lot of custom maps and game modes mini games for me and my cousins to play on system link.. those were the days!
Now we got the Custom game browser in MCC and all the memories come flooding back
Deadass the first thing I did when I booted up Halo Reach back when it launched was I went into forge and made a little house for myself on the Island out of objects with my favorite weapons mounted on the walls and a little back exit leading to a Revenant
This is so nostalgic for me because me and my brother also did that hot air balloon glitch you just have to see the physics to normal
We used to do wars, we will separate into two teams of 8 and create a hidden base in 10 mins then we will hide a fusion coil in the base, which was the objective. 3 lives each, if you died you become a forge ball and spectate. Games will last hours it was so much fun.
I tried making a puzzle/escaperoom map that i was really proud over, but it was probably really difficult and unintuitive :D
2a forge is my favourite because of its tool but forge world keeps bringing me back to reach solely because how fun it is, even if there’s no duplicating objects
Two words: Speed Halo
This is my favorite map in Halo Reach where I create my own materials in Forge World.
The Act Man called and wants his thumbnail back
I spent so much time forging and forge world was perfect in my eyes. The canvas made my creativity flow
Bro ever since they released the thorage update for mcc, multiplayer became a campaign, but in a good way. The transport falcons, and even increased money for creation makes it funner.
Forge world was beautiful! That huge waterfall was amazing!
Just imagine 64 player forge world, essentially Battlefield 2552. That would just have been amazing. It feels so large and grandscale even now. Amazing map!
Man i hope this gets remade again in inf
Back in the days, when I was 13, forge mode was the best thing I've ever liked. All the fun with new friends creating / discovering maps and game modes...
I remember all the jengas, the Indiana jones, the ninja parkours, and all the mangoost races and sooo more !
Since that day, I always wanted to become a game designer, and now, I finished computer studies and watching for a game designer job.
Halo reach forge mode litterally changed my life ^^'
Wow this is so nostalgic! Thanks, RocketSloth, for bringing me back. Time to fire up the 360!
Reach was the apex of halo custom games developing and halo 4 and 5 kind of left us desiring more and infinite is a dry desert yet to show a dang thing!
I still have halo reach system link parties in my theater room with 16 people. So much fun!!!
Didn't even talk about the fact that all the mountains are climbable just on foot, which I think is awesome in itself
Interesting watching you play parkour and see people ik... maybe i'll meet you one day.. just to jump better and be smug ;]
My fav parts were the floating tree and the tiny rock nook in between the hemorrage section and the cave that leads paradiso
i would make a map, play some social slayer and then invite everyone i played with to a custom game on my map. Truly great memories
Proud to say forge world was my most spent times on any halo maps ever
I’m still forging on Reach over a decade later.
I kinda just realized that forge mode is like a really basic CAD software where you can build stuff with only what is already in the game but you can do a lot with it. Like tinkercad but better
Awesome video dude. miss the old apocz days.
As a kid, I never played Minecraft, I played Halo Reach Forge. So damn good
I like Halo reach forge, but goddamn, I feel like Halo 3 is so much more fun
Forge World was great, very large, detailed, and smooth forge editing
Aw, I read Forge World and thought this was about Warhammer. I'm disappointed now.
i always wished that through the content updates halo reach would've expanded the forge world and opened up some of the kill boundaries update by update to let us explore the entirety of it.
shout out to Ducain for building Forge world in HALO 5 all by his damn self and killing it.
I remember how to make ziplines in forge, and how one guy made a bomb mode so that it actually changed the environment after it exploded. Good stuff.
The one way static shield sticked under a structure ! Good memories haha !
I remember picking up forge mode for all of about 8 minutes. Some people have made some pretty cool stuff though, and definitely a cool video. It's pretty low on my list of Halo features though.
I played this game so much but like 5 years after its prime. So sad i missed this whole thing
When I think Forge, I think Forge World. Instantly, they're just connected to me.
Racing and driving maps were my favorite to play
If you think about it halo really started the parkour in gaming scene like without map editor on halo it would’ve been obsolete imo. Mario also was a big key to map editors
Reach forge world just felt right
This sounds like an Act Man title. “Why was Forge World so AWESOME?!”
It really does
Halo reach's forge controls felt almost perfect to me, really hope infinite has similar controlls
My younger brother and I spent tons of time on forge, best thing we ever made was a mongoose racetrack.
Who remembers the file browser spams with “Haunted Helmet hack”
“2,000,000,000 Cr hack”
“Blue and Red flames helmet unlock”
Ill never forget the indiana jones map in halo reach, or the "school" damn very nice times
I always forget about the area on top of the hangar
