Spoiler-free review: Ann Hawthorne struck another success with this lovely Regency tale. Her verbiage and turn of phrase is eloquently Austen-esque, and really immerse you in the time period. Although shorter than most romance novels, I do feel that this story was complete while not being rushed. The heroine had an arc that you don’t typically see among her peers in historical romance, and it was a refreshing change to see it represented. For the audiobook, narrator Mary Jane Wells is the superb choice in this genre, and she does another flawless render for this book. Well done altogether!

I normally steer clear of single narrator audio, preferring full cast productions, however after only a few minutes I can tell this is very well done! The writing & the reading pair perfectly to fill my particular cuppa 😁 I hear Miranda Hart, who I love, at times in Ms Wells representation of one of the characters . 👍🏼👏Cheers & blessings yall😉from a long time attendee of the theater of the mind, listening near Nashville, TN

This is good! So short though. I prefer my book parts all together. Hunting them down and waiting for them leads to forgetting about them.

Dear Ms Wells, the word draught is pronounced "draft", it means a drink.

It means beer from a tap 🍺 served in a large heavy glass with a sturdy handle like in Germany beer stein 🍺

Wanted to listen to the story but the way your characters take the Lords name in vain is too bothersome

Yes, thank you for posting this. I don't care for stories with extensive cursing either.
