two weeks ago I bought the EVH Wolfgang standard in the same color ( chlorine burst).
My little tribute to Eddie Van Halen.
I hope that one day I will learn to play it how it deserves

So, do you buy fender guitar as a tribute to Leo Fender??
Stop being horrible to this brand.
Who buys ibanez as a tribute to Mr Ibanez??
      Nobody.

How safe and polite your comment is.
You can eat a big mac and then a cheese burger 🍔 and then something else.
I play Wolfgang and then I play Fender, then Gibson, then Jimi Hendrix, then Randy Rhoads.
      So what.
      They're nothing like EVH 👍 👌
If you tune yourself, then that's a problem.
That leads to mental illness and such things.

yea man, i’m a pretentious jazz/blues snob. most of my favorite rock players are from earlier era’s. but you really have a great feel man. just really awesome honest playing. give great players a good amp or DAW and an Indonesian guitar all of a sudden seems attractive. 🙏. btw, I love American Peaveys. I bought an American Detonator JX recently that rivals any entry level American Boutique Strat

I absolutely love the look of the roasted maple neck. Way more unique than the standard light maple. I just bought the Standard Exotic in Ziricote, and it is the most beautiful guitar I’ve ever seen. I can’t believe it only cost $649 brand new. Best value out there!

That's not what guys said just a few years ago.
The manufacturers ignored the public and kept on making these things.
There were guys and probably still are around who were prepared to hit guys who bought roasted wood 🪵 guitars.

He doesn't even realise brands can tune guitars different.

I like the baked or roasted maple necks as some others have stated. Not only is it something a little different than the usual but once it’s baked, it actually stabilizes the wood a little more because it cooks out some of the sugars and moisture that is naturally in the wood so it supposedly keeps it from warping and twisting. Kind of a cool little extra.

Its a really nice guitar, very comfortable to play and the pickups are very responsive and versatile. if you want to play some soft rhythm strumming or some Dave Mustaine speed picking, it can do it!! I got a Standard Exotic as they call it with a Splated Maple top. Had my doubts about the Spalted but it is great. That got me hunting another. I seems some guys are parting them out to keep the necks. I have only seen one neck for sale and it brought $250.00. So I have rounded up a second Wolfgang one part at the time. Body and Tremolo for $200.00 and a set of pickups for $105.00. I did round a Music Mann after market Axis 4x2 neck like the Wolfgang had in the beginning. The frets are few thousandths smaller but I'm ok with that. The 4x2 head was Eddie approved and he wanted to keep that but Ernie Ball blocked it when EVH went to Peavey. I think I will be ok with that. In a way its the Wolfgang Eddie wanted. I got to looking for wiring and the EVH manual on the Mexican Special shows they put a 150pf capacitor on the volume pot. New to me! Capacitors on Tone pots of course are standard. Have you seen that?

@@TroyCastellano They have been coming and going on Ebay for two months. Prices seem to have settled down. I must assume since I have only seen one neck the neck is the reason for the part out. I saw one of the base model Bomber blacks complete body go for $507.00 and about a week later the neck brought $250.00. Well now that is above retail.. Somebody made a profit parting it out in two bites. I paid $200 for a body and Floyd Rose. A few days before identical gloss black bare standard body went for almost $300.00. Its a little crazy While i didn't get steal in the current demand level I did ok.

Yeah I got one a black one that somebody painted, I guess it was satin black and they put tape on it to make the stripes and then painted it white but they did a good job looks great. it's an Immaculate condition no dents nor dings nothing. I think I'm going to have to do what you did and put a shim in it because I've done everything I can with the bridge and the neck to get it to the action that I like which is really low and so yeah I'm going to have to put a shim in it. because nothing's working and only that's going to do it. God bless you sir and love that performance very good.

They are super close to each other in tone and neck profiles. The Special is definitely a bit better in overall set up and build detail.

The solid color one you have there is not a 2020 model, must have been a 2019 new old stock because for 2020 EVH transitioned the whole Standard lineup to the baked maple necks... So glad you put this video up because the overall quality control and build quality of the new 2020 Standards sure does seem a lot higher. I've owned one of the made in China EVH Wolfgang models from years past and my new EVH Standard is just a much better guitar out of the box.... I know on sub $1000 guitars sometimes a setup can get kind of involved, but you shouldn't have to shim the neck on a new guitar to get it to play right... I also noticed the pickups on the 2020 EVH Standards sound correct to me, by that I mean identical to the Specials and USA lineup (to my ears) in my older EVH something seemed a bit off with them, still pretty close and I know supposedly identical spec.
